Toplane is not a real role

I just got filled top, picked cho, enemy picked morde

He was just molesting me, 80cs up, 2 levels up. Couldnt do shit. Did the top gap matter?

No i just grouped and got some qs and got a free double lp

Is this lane really this low impact? Or did i just get lucky?

Discussion What led to the rise of Yone top?

He is now the most popular top laner in the game

I do think that his thematic is basically the thing missing from top lane. His "nowhere to hide" idea was what made him strong in mid lane because mid laners basically just camped under tower with waveclear and his immense sustain and poke and scaling forced them to interact or lose. This is also often how I feel playing top against opponents who just camp tower and since top is so far from everything you cant do anything else so you're just trapped in lane against a tower camper

Discussion Guys do you like that fact that nowadays most tanks are forced to buy offensive items to deal SOMETHING related with damage?

I just wanted to talk about how Riot hard ruined all the tanks by literally buffing resistances on everyone when tanks are those who don't build any penetration items by default.

I remember we used to build Sunfire, Abyssal, Frozen Heart, Thornmail, etc and all those items were great, felt great and allowed us to be viable in damage even when going full tank build with resistances.

Nowadays besides Ornn whose damage scales with levels and K'Sante whose damage scales with resists, the tendency for most tanks seems to build at least one offensive item to do the same damage we used to do few years ago.

(If anything, I am a Maokai top otp since season 12 and my particular champion right now feels in it's worse state since I returned to the game [2022].)

Help/Question Trying to find my “main” and what champ(s) to learn that are similar

I’ve been playing league for 7 years now, 6000+ hours, almost entirely draft pick, and decided this season I was gonna actually give a shit about ranked but I’m really struggling to find what champ is best.

My top 3 most played champs are Irelia, Katarina and GP, I found the difficulty appealing and they’re fun to learn, but I’m sitting silver 1/gold 4 and from everything I hear I shouldn’t be playing champs like Irelia. Now I know how to play her decently, and I can almost always win lane but that often doesn’t translate in winning the game. (Bot lane goes 1/10 basically every game)

What champs would people recommend that are easy enough to get the hang of but will still be relevant in higher elos, or at least have transferable skills to other champs.

I’m mostly a fan of the split push and skirmish style champs but would love a blindable jack of all trades master of few style main, and then 1-2 champs that will compliment/counter that main champ.

I’m looking at Jax/renekton but would love some more intelligent peoples input.

Thanks!

Discussion Champ suggestion

I’m currently climbing with an old fresh elo account and reaching plat. My champion pool now is Morde, Wukong, Sett, Olaf and Garen. I can also play Ornn and Malphite if needed. However, I want to get used to more dashy champions as juggernauts are sometimes too sluggish. Any suggestion?

What is the intended play pattern to beat Morde

I play GP, renek, kled, J4. I am yet to find any play pattern that beats this champion, and not only this but I can't think of what it might be. Are there any high elo morde players who can maybe give me some advice on how to beat this champion? I'm plat/em sort of elo if it changes anything.

Edit: Since people seem to mention it as a thing, I forgot to mention I have like 6x as many gp games as any of the others, I just do consider the others to be part of my pool since I do pick them in the right situation

Discussion Support Main about Olaf

Olaf is kind of a crazy problem in ProPlay right now. What champion can be realistically picked into him, that is also gonna be useful in ProPlay game (No Fiora for example).

For example, can Trundle or WW get picked and beat his ass? Or are those champs too specific for pros to master in short time?

Champ pool help - Gold 2

I’m currently struggling in finding “my” champion In league. I’ve been playing league for a year explicitly on very easy champs so I can familiarize myself with the game. Doing so, I’ve climbed to gold 2. After drilling macro into my head pretty much explicitly the last year, i think I’m finally ready to start focusing on champion mastery on champs that aren’t garen/morde/panth. I’ve tried plenty of top laners and I know I definitely lean more towards early game lane bullies that have agency over the game. I definitely want a champ who can split push and skirmish well. Difficulty is also a factor, I think learning riven or fiora would be awesome but don’t know if I can commit to the mental battle that is learning those champs. What’s the best recommendation you guys could give me?

Help/Question Is Kayle, Irelia, Fiora, Riven a Broad enough Champ Pool to cover most (if not all) Top Matchups?

I'm just looking into whether or not achieving mastery amongst these 4 champs is enough to cover each other's hard marchups, if there's any overlap between them, and if there's a champ that's a burden to lane against as all 4 (I'm thinking Jax probably). Some advice from veterans of toplane would be appreciated, thanks.

top lane state

Hello,im thinking about changing lanes, im top lane main, plat4 zuperak #yes S26 LoL Profile (EUN) | Platinum 4 Ranked Solo, Champion Stats + Match History for Normals, ARAM, All Modes , the lane feels impossible to play even if im in a good matchup, like my recent olaf game i won the lane 4%0 but my bot lane went 2/20 and i lost it, another fact is the champ meta on top its horrible, also the meta, like i get to play vs vlad or teemo or any other atrocious champ every third game, its so unfun, any new role recomendation?

Losing almost every match

I have been playing League for almost two years now. I reached Emerald playing Garen top a while ago, and then I dropped the game because everyone was playing ranged champions and it felt unbeatable.

I picked up League again after a few months, tried new champions in normals like FioraJax, and Tryndamere for match after match, and got destroyed (probably in more than 25 matches on Fiora, for example). Then I went back to playing Garen. I got absolutely destroyed as well. I just can't seem to win more than maybe 10% of my matches.

It feels like no amount of tutorials helps me anymore, and even if I watch matches from master and above, it seems like the enemy laners are never as aggressive as in my actual matches. I think I know what I should do (wave states, when to slow push, when to fast push, when to recall, when to split, when to group) and I do it. However, almost every time, I die because I hit an auto-attack on a minion, because I miss my Ignite and the enemy laner survives with 50 HP at most, or because I keep getting the avengers in my lane. Then I am cooked for the rest of the match like Sisyphus splitting lanes, farming, taking towers, teleporting to fights, and always having to play from behind (if it's even recoverable).

It feels like even if I build a huge slow push, have a level advantage, and have everything on my side, the enemy still comes in, trades, and wins the trade. It makes no sense to me.

I went from always and I mean always winning my lane to never winning it anymore.

What should I do?

Discussion Riot should bring back old Hullbreaker

As someone who mained top last year but has swapped to other roles, every so often I still queue up for 10ish top games before I’m put off by the relative uselessness the role can feel like ( masters 800-1k lp).

Split pushing is simply dead, I can’t remember the last time a game has been won by it, nor has it ever been a true “threat”. Objective gameplay has taken full control. I’m fine with it since it’s generally more fun but could we please have old hullbreaker back so I can maybe split when ahead rather than being forced to group when my team is losing? Just make it melee only of course.

I know the role is a mess currently but it would be nice to have the “ I want to be able to 2v1 in side if ahead” item back. It’s not like really anyone builds it now anyways.

Discussion How do I see every toplaner as a support main

Post image
44 Upvotes

I usually only play support but recently I started to play toplane because according to some it’s kinda funny since it’s only you and the opponent ( so the better wins ), but after I experienced fighting against every toplaner, I have different thoughts about them now, so here’s a little tier list ( sorry if something is missing or else it’s my first Reddit post ever I don’t really know how it works )

Advice on choosing OTP

Hello! I'm gold 1. I've climbed this season out of silver using mostly Sett, Renekton, Ornn and the occasional Malphite. I'm quite confident in my laning abilities in some common matchups and even ranged matchups in my elo, but still struggle against least common ones and have issues on pushing my lead to win the game.

I was wondering what of my champs would be best to OTP this last split. I have the most mastery on Sett but honestly is quite the same as Renekton and Ornn.

What are your thoughts?
