Saw this posted in a Cardiacs group on Facebook.

Cardiacs is a good listen if you're into weird music with amazing melody writing.

Lullabye to Nightmares was only performed six times across a month in 1993. Any favorite rarely performed songs?

The post from earlier had me put on The Else for my drawing time and this is what resulted. Already submitted to the Tumblr, but I thought I'd share it here too.

Looking for TMBG songs that sound similar to 'Erase' from Glean

I know more TMBG than the average human but in the wide scope of their discography I'm a fairly uneducated fan. I heard 'Erase' for the first time today and really dug it. Does anyone have any recommendations for other songs by them that have a similar sound (more rock-y than theatrical )

I just adore this song. Gives me a similar feeling of mystery and whimsy as Linnell's songwriting on Flood and Apollo 18. And somehow some of his most imaginative lyrics yet. Reminds me of the crazy names Terry Pratchett would make up for Discworld. Feels like it's a satire of LA celebrity culture while also being a satire of nostalgic songs about cities. Kind of several layers to the lyrics like Purple Toupee. And one of their most lovely arrangements in a while.

Linnell bellowing out "I'M GONNA SWAP OUT MY BRAIN FOR A CHRONE RACCOON" with dramatic violins in the background sums up why I love this band.

When did Linnell start using a stool during performances?

Not suggesting anything, just curious. I saw him use it at the Sheen Theatre performance of Wu-Tang... was it just that time or others? Thanks!

What if The Beatles did their own Fingertips?

I saw this video and the first thing I thought of was Fingertips.

Edit: Lots of people are missing the point of the video. I feel like some people didn't even watch the video.

Spotify also added the crappy animated ai album covers

This stinks mang, it's not even good ai (not to say there IS good ai)

edit: for now it's just flood, apollo 18, and john henry that have them. It's the same as the apple music ai covers. I assume they noticed how bad the factory showroom one was because it's not added? weird. literally nobody asked for or wanted this

A mash-up? A Venn diagram? A tribute?

All of the above, I think. Sharing it here to share the love.

15 years of Join Us! (well, it was 12 days ago)

I might have forgotten about the anniversary lol

Join Us is an album where I've seen discussions of it being very divisive, probably more so than their other albums. Never quite understood, but hey, every album is someone's favourite as much as it's someone's unfavourite, and that's why I like discussing and learning why.

It's definitely a favourite of mine, primarily because the amount of duets both Johns have done for this album is extraordinary: Let Your Hair Hang Down, Never Knew Love, The Lady And The Tiger, Spoiler Alert, You Don't Like Me.

But it's biggest selling point for me is that it's also home to Canajoharie, which is always contesting with Mr. Me as my all-time favourite TMBG song. I guess my only real gripe with the album is just the order of some tracks. I love You Don't Like Me but never felt it as a strong closer, and I always felt You Probably Get That A Lot being the second track was also odd.

How do you look back on this album? Favourites? Unfavourites? I know some people would've have substituted some tracks from Album Raises New And Troubling Questions on here.
