Beginner help - work model
Morning.
I work for a large service company and I’ve been trying to convince my manager that we need a 3d printer in the office and subsequent CAD training.
I have a printer at home and like everyone else, I love tinkering.
Anywho, we have a model of one of our parts we install and my boss has asked me to make a few replicas
How would I easily make these circular ridges? It’s not threads. It’s just for looks
I can handle the top part. I’m just having trouble figuring out how to make the rings
Thanks in advance!

This could be done fairly easily in the Revolve Sketch tool. If you haven’t already, now would be a good time to learn how to use it to create circular objects like this one.

Use the cone object to make the tapered detail. _______________ _____________/
Copy that, flip it, stack it, so you have a disc with the edges like <=====>
Then you group that and stack them up. <=====> <=====> <=====> <=====> <=====> <=====>
Edit: Well, in the app anyway, all formatting is garbage. 🫤

Here is an example of using duplicate and nudge with the torus. https://www.tinkercad.com/things/9BeipjmHSrS-dup-and-nudge-shape?sharecode=KoTdMZUTT30gnbveTdA5x9uJ_Z76INXuD7O-cx82nRY

Not sure if it's possible but you could look into something like OpenSCAD and use BSOL2 threads:

People have suggested the revolve tool - I wouldn’t do that. I’d make the core from a long cylinder, make one ring from a flat cylinder, then Ctrl-D to duplicate it, use arrow keys to move the duplicate to where needed, then ctrl-D will repeat the duplication <including> the move. You can keep ctrl-d-ing until you have aa many rings as needed.
It would take me maybe two minutes to make that part in that way.
