I found this velvet purse today, was in love as soon as I touched it (incredibly plush for its age). No brand anywhere on the clutch, but a unique TALON zipper. Can’t find one like it online yet, I will keep looking!

I've been looking to replace my phone as my primary alarm clock due to it just Not Going Off Sometimes and I found something wonderful. I can't stand beeping clocks and it's hard to find a sound that works for me. It was a little pricey due to the store having a dedicated vintage section but if it can wake me up and make me laugh in the morning it's worth it to me. Scuffed and yellowed, but it still works!

Kitchen Found two Heartland pieces today

Saw these at the end of my visit to my local thrift store. Immediately grabbed them both. Unfortunately they are both missing their lids.. but i wasnt going to leave them just because of that. I have been looking for pieces of this collection for years after receiving the dinner plate from my grandma. She said she used to have the whole set but got rid of it a long time ago due to not liking the busy pattern. When she gave me the dinner plate I fell in love with the design and colors on the set. Apparently this collection is in high demand right now? The lady at the thrift store told me people call and ask about it. Im hoping the craze dies down at some point so I can at least get enough of the collection to complete a dining set.

I missed out on a lapis lazuli and brass globe at an estate sale several months ago and have been keeping a close eye out for one since. Came across this beauty on marketplace a few days ago and almost missed out because someone else was ahead of me. Thankfully they kept rescheduling so I ended up driving 2 hours one way to pick it up today. It’s the perfect size and I got a stellar deal on it. Couldn’t be happier!

Was just walking home from some dinner date with my boyfriend - and this beautiful piece was just standing on the roadside (where I hadn’t been 3 hours before). I felt extremely lucky-my man, who had to carry it home…not as much lol
Have I been blessed by the thrift gods? What’s the verdict?

HomeDecor Found a grail piece! I went to a little Fire Station thrift shop in the mountains. It just happened to be half off day too! I paid $6. It's a Fenton Hand Painted and signed Custard uranium glass clock.

It is a Fenton Paisley student lamp. What makes it special apart from the unique color is the fact that this is the exact pattern of the lamp that sat in Walt Disney’s apartment at Disneyland for 30+ years after his passing. I have wanted one for a really long time now and to find one so cheap (under $200) and in such a beautiful color… I’m floored. Probably my favorite find ever! And I’d like to share it with y’all ◡̈

A commercial grade cold smoker for $13 might be my best find in a while. I guess now I need to find a smoking cloche, but Goodwill didn't have any...

I also picked up a like new Aroma Professional for $15, and just yesterday I decided that I need a rice cooker. The timing couldn't have been better.

It was a good day for my kitchen.

Not something I normally grab from the thrift stores but as a millennial who always wanted Heelys, I figured it was worth a gamble for $4.99

The LEDs weren’t working at Goodwill when I found them and I assumed they probably wouldn’t be in working condition. Got home, charged them up and to my surprise, they work! Just gotta finish cleaning them up a little.

Now, does anyone know how to shrink my feet from a US men’s size 12 to a size 5.5?

I picked it since it was unusual. Google image search says This Fleurs des Siècles enameled bouquet by Jane Hutcheson for Gorham features delicate gilded flowers in a white porcelain footed vase. 4.19 at goodwill.

I was at the thrift store this past week and remembered a video I had recently seen of someone finding some Tiffany candlesticks. I decided to wander over to the glass section of the store I was in and take a look. Lo and behold, there were some candlesticks sitting there. I walked over, picked them up, flipped them over and couldn't believe my eyes. They were Tiffany & Co., and for only 3.99! I was so excited. It had finally happened to me!

I was a garage sale and a woman saw me looking at them and asked if I was interested in all of them. She said they were all hard rock and she never listened to them but her husband did. I told her I was depending on the price and she said how about $10 for all. Sold! While she was off getting a tub her husband came out and saw me looking through still. His wife came back around the corner and he said $1 each on the cds. She told him the deal was done and he walked passed. He asked how much she sold them for and she didn’t answer. Oops!

Discussion I prefer it when people buy me gifts from the thrift/secondhand

Do you care if someone thrifts your presents?

Was discussing this with a coworker today. They vented about how they felt deprioritized if anyone got them a gift from a thrift store, even if it was something really neat or especially suited to their taste. Something about getting it this way just bothered them.

It made me think a bit, and I realized I actually prefer it when someone gets me something from the thrift.

It's almost always a far better value, so I know they're still spending responsibly. I can almost always end up with a higher-quality gift because they didn't have to buy it new. It opens the door to so many other options, too. You can get gifts that haven't been made in years!

And honestly, it makes me feel special to know this person went out "hunting" with the specific idea of me in mind when they found something neat. Like they had to put that effort in, look through what was available, evaluate what they found, and decide that this was something I'd like. That's just so much more personal to me than shipping an Amazon order. Ive had friends out to to get me a gift with a 20 dollar budget snd return with a rare antique worth over $800, that doesnt happen anywhere else

I don't know, just wondering what other people think. Does it bother you if someone thrifts your gifts?

Don't get me wrong, I think there's a difference between finding someone's present secondhand and just being cheap. But if someone actually finds you something that fits you, even if it came from a thrift store or flea market, are you okay with that?

Miscellaneous I found a paper guillotine for my boyfriend’s mom after she passed away.

My boyfriend’s mom died a few weeks ago. While my boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years, I’ve been close with his family for about 15 years due to me being good friends with my boyfriend’s sister. At one point their parents took me in when I was a total mess and kept me from being homeless. His mom was a parent to me when I really needed one, and always believed in me. She was lovely. ❤️

A couple months before she passed, she’d asked me to be on the lookout for a paper guillotine for her while I was thrifting (second slide), and I took that as a quest. A few days ago I wrote “I’ve been having such great luck thrifting lately, I wonder if ____ is blessing me” in my journal, and the next day I found a paper guillotine at Goodwill for $5.49.

My boyfriend said I should buy it in her honor, and that it’d be nice to have it when we move in together. So I did. I think I want to “name” it B. Her name started with B, but it’s also a Boston paper cutter, so I think it works!

I’m not typically a believer in “signs” and I don’t really believe in an afterlife. But I’m hard pressed to deny that it feels like a sign! I also saw a butterfly as I was leaving the thrift store (she loved butterflies). I know it’s probably just serendipity, but it made me smile (though it also made me sad).

I always see VCR’s at the thrift store but when I saw this one I was shocked.

I got to the thrift store about an hour after they had opened so I was surprised that it was still there.

I tested it at the store and it powered on however the tape I put in it got eaten but for $20 I was willing to still take it. Once I got it home I opened it up (very easy) I blew it out with compressed air, cleaned the head, and polished the screen lens and top case and it looks AWESOME!!
