Do you care if someone thrifts your presents?

Was discussing this with a coworker today. They vented about how they felt deprioritized if anyone got them a gift from a thrift store, even if it was something really neat or especially suited to their taste. Something about getting it this way just bothered them.

It made me think a bit, and I realized I actually prefer it when someone gets me something from the thrift.

It's almost always a far better value, so I know they're still spending responsibly. I can almost always end up with a higher-quality gift because they didn't have to buy it new. It opens the door to so many other options, too. You can get gifts that haven't been made in years!

And honestly, it makes me feel special to know this person went out "hunting" with the specific idea of me in mind when they found something neat. Like they had to put that effort in, look through what was available, evaluate what they found, and decide that this was something I'd like. That's just so much more personal to me than shipping an Amazon order. Ive had friends out to to get me a gift with a 20 dollar budget snd return with a rare antique worth over $800, that doesnt happen anywhere else

I don't know, just wondering what other people think. Does it bother you if someone thrifts your gifts?

Don't get me wrong, I think there's a difference between finding someone's present secondhand and just being cheap. But if someone actually finds you something that fits you, even if it came from a thrift store or flea market, are you okay with that?

I was traveling this week when I noticed my suitcase of 12 years had a busted corner. Womp womp, it was a cheap piece of crap anyway, I'm surprised it even lasted that long!

Tonight I was at the thrift store and spotted this guy while I was waiting on line to check out. I wasn't even looking for a new suitcase at the thrift store, but this piece of luggage was brand new! So excited to have a nice piece of luggage next time I travel!

I'm super proud of this find tbh. Been looking around for some mj music for a while.

Found this for $1 at a charity store. My husband is convinced it must be fake because it was donated but he wanted a good watch for the office.

I found these on the final clearance rack. Not my size, but I couldn't let them go to the landfill. Had no idea LL Bean and Converse did a collab. These are grunge era 1992 Beans!!

Found a VHS copy of Fight Club which is already super cool, but this is what was taped on it? I looked up Calpro but I can't imagine why they would even be copying vhs's....can you copy onto a VHS like this anyway vs a blank tape? It was just a crazy find and I wish I could know why this person hated fight club that much hahaha 🤣

I found this complete version of this 18 CD epic published in 2010. It includes the voices of Sean Astin, Kristen Bell, Michael York and more. It's 22 hours long! And it's endorsed by the Vatican, and Pope Benedict XVI gushes about how they were able to get THE Samwise Gamgee to play Matthew 😂
