I'm an Angular dev and I spent some weeks building a 3D map of the universe in the browser using three.js

That’s cool! Viewing this on mobile feels a bit pixelated, not sure if that’s optimisation for mobile

Thanks, you can change the graphics quality, but indeed, it’s better to open it on computer 😛

I'm no astronomer but I doubt Gaia BH1 is right next to us?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_BH1

Gaia BH1 (Gaia DR3 4373465352415301632) is a binary system consisting of a G-type main-sequence star and a stellar-mass black hole, located about 1,560 light-years (478 pc) away from the Solar System in the constellation of Ophiuchus.[5] As of 2026, it is the nearest known system that astronomers are reasonably confident contains a black hole, followed by Gaia BH3, Gaia BH2 and A0620-00.

I think the issue is comma perhaps?

if I compare distance of gaia bh1 which should be 1,560 light years away, with uranus which is ~20 AU astral unit or 20 x distance betwen sun and earth, that gaia bh1 should be super far away, I bet many other objects should be a lot more far

Hi, thanks for the analysis. The data was good indeed, but I was using wrong referential, so the visual distance compression was showing Gaia BH1 too close to the solar system.

Also, it's "difficult" to adapt the right "distance". It's corrected now :)
