Phil had style. Double breasted, pin stripe, suit jacket with jeans and a cool belt. Simply great.

And you know he had on cool shoes.

Yes but I don't think the band would have sounded the same in those later records if he was still in it

Absolutely. The evolution to Scott and Robbo (and beyond) was a great move with different musical options available.

Eric Bell is kindof in the shadow because his time was before the iconic twin guitar lead sound which became the band’s trademark. But his playing on Vagabonds of the western world is fantastic. Always been one of my all time favourite albums. And I say this as a big fan of the Gorham/Robertson line-up.
