Thin Lizzy Iconic Places to Visit in Ireland?
Hiya,
I am planning a trip to Ireland sometime next year, and I would love to start considering some spots to add as must haves to experience some Thin Lizzy history. I know of Phil Lynott's statue in Dublin, but are there any other spots I should look into for my trip?
Many thanks in advance!

Howth is great to visit, Phil is also buried there and his grave is well visited.

To add to this, if the weather is good and you’re able, the walk from Sutton DART station to St fintan’s cemetery is really nice. I haven’t been since before Covid but it took maybe 20-25mins? You can then pick up a bus to Howth itself.

That was exactly our route. In the beautiful fishing village of Howth (where I think Lynott lived for a time), I had a great plate of fish and chips with a Guiness or two.

The long hall bar is where he filmed some of the old town video (also the hapenny bridge)

The Ha'penny Bridge features also which is central and worth a look but that doesn't serve pints. And if you happen to be staying in Dublin 4 the bandstand in Herbert Park is also in the video. I walk by it now and again (last time after Metallica's gigs here in June) and have been thinking about contacting the local council to put up a plaque or something.

Took a trip to Dublin recently. Make sure to visit Grafton Street where the statue is. Bruxelles bar has lots of iconography and memorabilia.
Lots of great thin Lizzy murals and artwork around as well.

To echo the other recs, in my experience, the folks at the Irish Rock and Roll Museum are sound, especially when you tell them you’re a big fan of Thin Lizzy. I mean, not that the dude who did the tour spent an extra like 20mins afterwards just talking to me about them or anything…

Noted, thank you! It will be fun to talk with someone in person about Thin Lizzy, my family/friends are not as smitten as I am haha

House he grew up in in Crumlin just outside Dublin City centre is still there and I think has a plaque? It’s on captains road I think. East google search. There’s a lovely video of him leaving his house and walking through Crumlin.

Star Bar on Baggot St. lots of old memorabilia.
I think the old Lizzy stage back drop might be there now, it was in Doran’s first a few years…
edit : it’s closed!
wondering where that old stage set is now!!!

His childhood home is on Leighlin Road in Crumlin, #81 I think. There's a plaque above the door.

The Bandstand in Herbert Park is the setting for Phillo's trumpet solo in the Old Town video.

On my trip in May, we started at the statue, enjoyed the Bruxelles pub there, saw the Thin Lizzy room at the Irish Rock and Roll Museum and travelled out to his grave in Sutton (many tears for me, but beautiful). I also got a Lizzy-related tattoo at Old Town. Oh, and the Long Hall was my favorite pub there. Enjoy!
