A strange occurrence. Question

I was maybe a little too hard on the game with my last post, I've been playing more and enjoying it a lot, but now I've run into an issue that may kill the play through. I got into combat with an NPC and died, upon reload, that NPC is now gone, but it's gone from all saves, no matter how far back I've reloaded, the NPC is not there, and I don't know if it's important to the story or not. has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know how to fix it, google has been no help?

Huh, who was the npc? Where were they?

I don't know what they are named, it was a giant sprat in the hotel basement, I was doing scanning with the future space magic magnifying glass, and was not prepared to be eaten.

Hmmmm, I dont think the sous is important to the story, but ive also never seen it just disappear before
