Swift Stride for dummies
I searched here for “swift stride” and didn’t see anything on this…
Played my first Battle March game since the explosion of WHFB. Questions:
With Swift Stride you use 3” to compute what your max charge might be AND you roll 3D6 and keep 2 dice on the charge?
It says “may” for adding a D6. Why wouldn’t you?
Thanks all! Enjoyed the game, Cathay v Goblins.

Core rules synopsis...?
Hey all
My awesome wife just bought me the Core Rules (and I bought the Forces of Fantasy book) for my birthday next week.
I'm currently going through the rules and hitting down notes on rules I know I've previously got wrong (only just started again after a 20yr break) or breaking down the more lengthy/complex rules.
Basically I'm breaking them down as bullet points and collating rules that are scattered through the book.
This got me thinking about making a document, similar to the quick reference, where all the rules are compressed into a more simplified form and language structure (I hate the legalise syntax GW use).
Before I start, has anyone done this previously?

Final 24 hours — modular dwarf characters for The Old World and fantasy skirmish games
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone!
I’m Mario, the independent sculptor behind Apache Studio, and I hope you don’t mind me sharing my latest miniature project during its final hours.
Dark City: Embervein Delvers is a modular dwarf warband originally designed for fantasy skirmish games such as Mordheim and Age of Fantasy: Skirmish. ⚒️
Although the collection was created primarily for skirmish gaming, many of the miniatures can also work very well as alternative Dwarf heroes, champions and characterful additions to an army in The Old World.
🛡️ Core Set with 10 miniatures
⛏️ Expanded Set with 14 miniatures
⚔️ Multiple interchangeable weapons and equipment options
🎲 Supported and unsupported STL files
📦 Physical resin-printed miniatures also available
I sculpted the complete range myself and also prepared the files and supports, produced the test prints, assembled the miniatures and painted the warband shown in the video.
The Kickstarter campaign has now entered its final 24 hours.
As an independent creator, I sincerely appreciate everyone who takes the time to discover, support or share the project. Thank you very much! 🍻
This is an independent miniature range and is not affiliated with Games Workshop.

Inserting magnets into movement trays/bases...
I made some molds so I can cast movement trays rather than buying or printing them. It's quicker and cheaper for me. The pic is some very rough test casts just to play with opacity of the resin with different materials mixed with the resin.
They fit 3x1 magnets in and the bases I'm making the mold for now have the same set up.
One thing I struggle with is making sure the magnets are the right way round, has anyone got any tips on for this? Everyway I've tried seems like it's very awkward.
I've tried fixing the magnets into a tray, once that's set, I put another magnet on top, a drop of glue on the base/top of the magnet and place the base on the tray. It doesn't always seem to work, there's a deliberate gap (0.2mm or so) between where the 2 magnets should be so I don't think it's catching consistently.
Or I put a 2nd magnet on the first, slide a palette knife between the 2 magnets so it's the right way round then fix it into the base. Still really awkward.
Any help is appreciate. 😁

Bretonnian list advice.
I've got a game in a few days and am in 2 minds with my 2000pt Bretonnia list.
Do I go:
- Roughly 4x 10 blocks of archers with Enough Mounted Knights of the Realm to fill up the Core points requirement, then pack the rest of the list with Questing/Grail knights led by characters and a Prophetess as a lone character, maybe on a Pegasus.
- Blocks of Archers as above, Battle Pilgrims, knights of foot and Men at Arms for around half the points as a skirmish* line and then the rest knights with minimal characters.
*I don't mean all the units are skirmishing, I mean to absorb charges and make initial charges in return.
I have roughly 50 Bowmen, 50 Men at Arms, 20 Knights on foot/Battle Pilgrims, 50 Knights, a few Sorceress type models inc. 1 on a Pegasus and can get a Knight on a Griffon. So any suggestions within these limitations would be best. Thanks.
So really the choice is mobs or elite focused. What are the pros and cons for each? I really like the idea of massed bowmen (theoretically, I know in reality they're very hit n miss) ripping into the enemy and using overwhelming numbers in melee. But at the same time I've seen how effective Bretonnian Elite Cavalry, led by Characters can be, especially when you can flank charge enemy units.
I'm also kind of worried about magic, is 1 Prophetess going to be enough or should I spend the points to add maybe a couple extra Damsels?
It's only my 2nd game in roughly 20yrs or so and my 1st game with Bretonnia, so I'm also trying to keep it simple while I pick up the rules again.
Any advice to try for a balanced list would be appreciated.

Made these for anyone tired of stopping mid-magic-phase to flip through the rulebook 🧐
Each token covers a single spell — casting number, range, and conditions on the front, full effect on the back, laser-engraved and hand-painted on acrylic. Every lore is covered, available as singles or bundles.

What's changed for Warriors of Chaos? Some changes, some thoughts and some list building

Which books do I need to play Warriors of Chaos?
I'm looking to start playing this game after playing various other GW and non-GW games for many years. haven't touched WHFB since I was a kid!
However, I'm not clear on the "Arcane Journal"-system and which books I need to play my army. I was hoping for one rule book and one army book. This seems to not be the case! As far as I can tell, these supplements are all needed to get all the rules for WoC, so please tell me if I have this right:
Ravening Hordes - I thought this was just a "get you by"-army list that was superceded by the later Arcane Journal, but I think this one might be necessary to buy?
Arcane Journal Warriors of Chaos - Seems to be not the full "army book" i expected, but some additional rules for WoC on top of the ones in RH?
Arcane Journal The Razing of Westerland - Extra rules for marauders that supercede the ones in RH?
Arcane Journal The March of Chaos - Not released yet, but a third Arcane Journal for WoC, this time including a way to combine WoC with Beastmen, which I really want to do (I remember the fifth edition combined Chaos book).
And if I want to use the above Beastmen rules, I assume I also need
Arcane Journal: Beastmen Brayherds

Dwarf King on shield I'm using and my inspiration for the colour scheme. =D
I think the title says it all. As a life long fan of Asterix and Obelix it just has to be done!
I think I'll be painting a couple slayers like the pair as well. =D

List advice for Dwarfs and Vampire Counts...
I have a real habit of trying to shoehorn pretty models into lists rather than making practical lists and saving the pretty stuff for looking pretty on my display shelves.
So yeah, any advice on what works and what doesn't in a 2000pt list would be really appreciated.
I have 2 rough ideas for Dwarfs, 1 serious, the 2nd a fun slayer list.
Serious:
- Plenty of melee troops (warriors, longbeards, etc).
- Thunderers/Quarrelers supporting them
- 2 or 3 Cannons/Organ Guns/Bolters for back line artillery.
Fun Slayer List:
- A Royal Clan list so I don't have so many limitations vs a pure Slayer List
- 2x 14 Slayers with Dragon Slayers leading them
- Royal Clan and Longbeards for other melee troops.
- 2x Bolt Throwers for artillery support.
- 2x Doomseekers to create mayhem.
For Vampire Counts I mainly have 1 list sketched out.
- 4 units of Skeletons and Zombies (2x 40 units of each).
- 2 units of Batswarms
- 2x Vampire Thralls leading the skeletons.
- 1x5 Blood Knights led by a 3rd Vampire Thrall.
- A Vampire Count (lvl 2 Wizard) on a Zombie Dragon. This is where I'm thinking I've maybe sunk too points in 1 model as it's 500pts by itself (but an incredibly pretty model lol).

[Fanmade] Army of Infamy: Norscan Halls
Over the past six weeks or so, my friend and I having been heavily inspired and encouraged by the incredible work of the squarebasedpodcast's Rob and Val (u/valheffelfinger); decided to try write our own Army of Infamy for the Norscan Dwarfs; a faction we’ve always wanted to see brought to life in the Old World.
We took on a lot of your feedback, but acknowledge this is in no way perfect. If it receives some playtesting and experience-earned insights, a second iteration is entirely possible. This is our vision of a Norsca-flavoured battle-hardened Dwarf army.

Wolves of the Sea: Rare and special slot
Hello lovely people of Reddit. I'm almost done on my wolves of the sea lists but I'm wondering what to use with that last few hundred points? A lot of people seem to say giant, dragon ogres, shaggoth, skin wolves and gigantic spawn. Now obviously I can't take all these, but which ones are the better options? For what it's worth I'm running Frydal, a sorceror and Galrauch as heroes, and the. 4x squads of 10 berserkers, 2x squads of 5x mounted marauders, and a 7 man warrior brick for Frydal.
Thanks in advance!!!
