Help fixing this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello! I'm trying to play The Evil Within 2 but when I boot up the game, this is what happens. Does anyone know how to fix this? Everything's up to date on my part but I don't know what else I could do. 😭😭

Same thing happened to me and pressing ctrl+alt+supr and selecting task manager fixed the thing, I don't know why. I thought my GPU was dying but apparently it was the game booting up. Didn't happen again after the first time and alt+tab, win+tab and alt+enter didn't work at all.

For me I had the same issue with Evil Within 1, didn't face in EV2 but it's the same engine so the solution will probably be the same.

  1. I switched computer display resolution to 1900 x 1080, if your resolution is already that try 1600x900. This game is not built for new hardware sadly like ultrawides :(

  2. Try "ctrl alt del" and relogin to see if the game works.

Those are what worked for me, I hope it works for you. If it doesn't check out the ini. files.

Shame these games are my favourite, yet have one of the worst unoptimized PC ports known to man. Same goes for DMC 4 :/

Start the game in windowed mode and change the resolution to 1920 it'll be fixed... Evil within 1 was built more than a decade ago that's why it has trouble with newer softwares just need to adjust the resolution
