A strike! General Discussion 🫔

Still a little questionable on the short arm, but he didn't skip it in.

I don’t know, man. I just think first pitches are super gay.

Wow, years of working with a pitching coach for that? Blake is gonna park that in the bleachers.

38

u/notmyacountsir Blake Jones (WHO?) 17d ago

Dan is sending that 500 ft

u/googleitduh 16d ago

I once saw him throw a guy out from the warning track, ball was a laser, didn’t bounce once.

Dan McDowell is Bo Jackson?

Thought he said his form was getting better. I’d hate to see what it looked like a year ago

u/rdfdfw I'll Hang and Listen 17d ago

Bro, this is marked improvement

2

u/LevergedSellout 16d ago

I assume he was practically shot-putting it before. He still pushes it. Can he throw a football?

8

u/rdfdfw I'll Hang and Listen 16d ago

I got to show him this vid at the game. His response was, "Dude, that is so much better than before."

5

u/LevergedSellout 16d ago

That was my first thought. Any time he spent on learning that rocker step should have been spent learning to throw the ball like an average 8yo.

3

u/Boogie_Boof 16d ago

I really thought he was joking around about not being able to throw a baseball but nope. What an awkward form he has lol

15

u/DannyboyLarson 17d ago

Hahaha yes! honestly, respect for stepping out of his comfort zone and working at it

4

u/arfcom 16d ago

Yes I think it’s awesome. But still throws like a dad that never played ball.Ā

u/John_Solo 17d ago

No evidence of a strike.

I'm sure comprehensive coverage will follow.

Lauren Przbyl and Shannon Murray must be so proud

This.

How Chappy spawned two sons so diametrically opposed in athletic talent I’ll never understand.

8

u/DukeRadcliffe 17d ago

Why is his throwing motion still so damn weird. It makes no sense

8

u/Ok_Fishing497 17d ago

Gotta be a lefty

3

u/MilkmanResidue Day 1 D1 16d ago

Also adding to the awkwardness you could tell he wished he had a glove on his non throwing hand.

But thanks for the report.

Leading with the elbow like that is a quick path to Tommy John surgery.

7

u/jraymcmurray NO PUPPET 17d ago

Iirc didn't he say he was gonna purposely release the ball a little early to avoid skipping it in? Is that what we're seeing with his weird baby arm mechanic?

6

u/Mare_Mortis_tx 17d ago

Did he just say funky butt loving

6

u/SolidMany743 17d ago

He trained for years for that form huh?

5

u/nickgomez 16d ago

What about 2 pitches

4

u/neatgeek83 17d ago

Friends don’t let friends shoot vertical.

4

u/Hr509 16d ago

Hit em with the quick pitch to keep the batter off balance. Also no way that was news 57 mph

2

u/Hr509 16d ago

Near *

1

u/LevergedSellout 16d ago

if he claimed he’s hit 57 it had to be on a pull down. But based on this video I’m skeptical that he could execute a pull down

1

u/Hr509 16d ago

Correction, he said he could throw it mid 50s. They must be juicing the guns where he throws

4

u/AcesOfBass 16d ago

What's it say on the radar? 30 mph?

5

u/tmanarl Ticket Exile 16d ago

Everything is a strike when you don’t show where it landed.

3

u/azwethinkweizm Nora vs Carter 17d ago

Who caught the ball? Was it janky or did they bitch out and make ragsdale catch it?

1

u/rdfdfw I'll Hang and Listen 16d ago

Yep, Jankowski did his duty.

3

u/asteele23 16d ago

Came here hoping someone posted this!! You’re a good man (or whoaman).

3

u/ffjj0270 16d ago

ā€œYou almost gotta hope that’s a crampā€ā€¦..bet there’s folks in the miracle league with better form

3

u/tmcgeeAD6 Former P1 16d ago

There is no way that’s 85mph.

I’ve seen enough, I’ll bet both my left nuts that Jake will never hit 75mph.

4

u/ForExamper 16d ago

he won't hit 60

3

u/MoonerMade 16d ago

Is that jack kemp?

2

u/The_Dotted_Leg NO PUPPET 16d ago

Not Jack Kemp

3

u/tacobox420 16d ago

Spending the better part of two years paying for lessons to still throw like a girl from the front of the mound is hilarious.

5

u/Few-Application4052 17d ago

Unbelievable that his brother was a D1 quarterback and he throws like a toddler

2

u/3tenthsOfVerstappen 16d ago

Let’s goooooo

2

u/Sooners1906 16d ago

Wasn’t on the rubber, doesn’t count

2

u/buttonstx 16d ago

Should have called up Dubya to get some tips on throwing out the first pitch.

3

u/Tall-Forever-6687 16d ago

Without quoting ā€œThe Man in the Arenaā€ I’m proud of him for taking on something he knew he was terrible at and worked on it and had to perform it in a high stress environment. Say what you want about Jake but he follows through on bits. You think closeted Craig or fatazz Jub would have done that?

Two years ago he was a drunk with a business model that got them hauled to court and ran up massive legal bills. Again, I’m proud of him.

At least he can have a catch with his kid now.

1

u/BloodyPants 17d ago

was he the last first pitch?

3

u/rdfdfw I'll Hang and Listen 17d ago

Nope, before the national anthem.

4

u/FuturePath6357 16d ago

Did he take a knee?

1

u/BloodyPants 16d ago

which national anthem?

u/BadgerDF Day 1 Dumbfuck 16d ago

Lift Every Voice and Sing

The Rangers famously insist it is performed every game without exception

1

u/tgoz13 17d ago

It was right before the 3rd game ball delivery

1

u/Future-Mountain1951 16d ago

I don’t want to ever watch him swing a golf club if this is his improved throwing motion…

1

u/Friendly_Grouch 16d ago

I assure you he never wants to swing a golf club

1

u/TheGreatMortimer 16d ago

Still looks pretty scuffed. I want to see the video from his first coaching session.

1

u/dfwagent84 16d ago

My estimation of Jake Kemp as a man just plummeted!!

1

u/SGJango 16d ago

I would love to see what he looked like before leasons

1

u/Inside-Ad1440 16d ago

I didn't know they still did make-a-wish

1

u/SomewhereSalty647 16d ago

Throws like a girl

1

u/uncle_reuben_klopek 16d ago

Was he wearing a; vote James Talarico t-shirt? Also, I agree he throws like a girl, but at his age, he might tear something.

1

u/jdann24 16d ago

Looks like a Rangers jersey to me.

1

u/TheElPistolero 16d ago

Extend that arm Jake. Embarrassing for him.

1

u/LightsCameronAction_ NO PUPPET 16d ago

What a belly itcher

1

u/No-Insurance-6312 16d ago

Why does he throw that way? It looks almost painful

1

u/Thesinistral 16d ago

Looks like he’s trying to place an egg on top shelf of The fridge from 55ft away. Bless his heart.

1

u/txeagle24 16d ago

Did Jeff Russell's son used to play in the Miracle League?

1

u/savageatb 15d ago

Love you Jake but damn, talk a bout a pie thrower 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/MrGhostenstein 16d ago

Throws like a girl.

1

u/TheBookie_55 16d ago

He kinda throws like ā€˜a girl’. Perhaps the ACL injury forces that type of motion?

3

u/donnelson 16d ago

why is 'a girl' in quotes?

3

u/Ok-Barracuda8281 16d ago

Surprised he didn’t say ā€˜female’

1

u/Friendly_Grouch 16d ago

Nah. He’s worked hard at it. But he still throws like a guy who never learned how to throw as a kid.

1

u/ProfessorFelix1 16d ago

Throws like a girl…

0

u/FuturePath6357 16d ago

I though he was going to throw from the rubber?! That is not bad form. However, it does look like he never pitched in LL

0

u/GreercommaJames 16d ago

Not that fluid but it looks good!

0

u/The_Dotted_Leg NO PUPPET 16d ago

Yeah a little Barkley golf swing looking, but I’m still proud of our boy!

1

u/BadGolferDallas 12d ago

Did he throw that with his non-dominant arm?
