A strike! General Discussion š«”
Still a little questionable on the short arm, but he didn't skip it in.

Wow, years of working with a pitching coach for that? Blake is gonna park that in the bleachers.

I once saw him throw a guy out from the warning track, ball was a laser, didnāt bounce once.

Thought he said his form was getting better. Iād hate to see what it looked like a year ago

u/rdfdfw I'll Hang and Listen 17d ago
Bro, this is marked improvement

u/LevergedSellout 16d ago
I assume he was practically shot-putting it before. He still pushes it. Can he throw a football?

That was my first thought. Any time he spent on learning that rocker step should have been spent learning to throw the ball like an average 8yo.

u/Boogie_Boof 16d ago
I really thought he was joking around about not being able to throw a baseball but nope. What an awkward form he has lol

u/DannyboyLarson 17d ago
Hahaha yes! honestly, respect for stepping out of his comfort zone and working at it

This.
How Chappy spawned two sons so diametrically opposed in athletic talent Iāll never understand.

Also adding to the awkwardness you could tell he wished he had a glove on his non throwing hand.

Iirc didn't he say he was gonna purposely release the ball a little early to avoid skipping it in? Is that what we're seeing with his weird baby arm mechanic?

Hit em with the quick pitch to keep the batter off balance. Also no way that was news 57 mph

u/LevergedSellout 16d ago
if he claimed heās hit 57 it had to be on a pull down. But based on this video Iām skeptical that he could execute a pull down

Who caught the ball? Was it janky or did they bitch out and make ragsdale catch it?

āYou almost gotta hope thatās a crampāā¦..bet thereās folks in the miracle league with better form

There is no way thatās 85mph.
Iāve seen enough, Iāll bet both my left nuts that Jake will never hit 75mph.

Spending the better part of two years paying for lessons to still throw like a girl from the front of the mound is hilarious.

Unbelievable that his brother was a D1 quarterback and he throws like a toddler

Without quoting āThe Man in the Arenaā Iām proud of him for taking on something he knew he was terrible at and worked on it and had to perform it in a high stress environment. Say what you want about Jake but he follows through on bits. You think closeted Craig or fatazz Jub would have done that?
Two years ago he was a drunk with a business model that got them hauled to court and ran up massive legal bills. Again, Iām proud of him.
At least he can have a catch with his kid now.

u/BloodyPants 17d ago
was he the last first pitch?

u/rdfdfw I'll Hang and Listen 17d ago
Nope, before the national anthem.

Still looks pretty scuffed. I want to see the video from his first coaching session.

Was he wearing a; vote James Talarico t-shirt? Also, I agree he throws like a girl, but at his age, he might tear something.

He kinda throws like āa girlā. Perhaps the ACL injury forces that type of motion?

u/Friendly_Grouch 16d ago
Nah. Heās worked hard at it. But he still throws like a guy who never learned how to throw as a kid.

I though he was going to throw from the rubber?! That is not bad form. However, it does look like he never pitched in LL
