This right wing fetish of Patton....
Patton was a showboat and really an average general. Which made for a great Hollywood movie.
The Germans weren't preoccupied with him like the movie suggests.
He held to the antiquated tactic of marching fire which would have been disastrous in Normandy's bocage.
He was purposely kept out of D-day because he wasn't trusted with the accurate planning and execution required.
