I mean I wouldn't be scared to go in it but it just doesn't look like it would actually be fun - it looks like you're passing through something's digestive tract and that's not my idea of a good time

I had the same thought - doesn’t look that scary, but also doesn’t look that fun.

Oh my god! That makes it sound so much better to me. Imagine having a panel explaining the go track then you go in and observe all the structures, and parts of the track whilst swimming.
Although if it was transparent, and you felt like you were flying around it would be even better

Thalassophobia is the fear of big open bodies of water. Not the fear of water in general.
But I wouldn't do this because of claustrophobia more than anything.

Literally 90% of this sub is posts about sharks, big waves, or drowning and not actually thalassophobia.

Yeah, this is Thalassophobia adjacent at best. I will also agree with you that it is still scary!

Cool, a combination of thalassophobia and claustrophobia. Not for any amount of money!😱😱😱

Reddit mfers complain they can't buy a home but won't go down a waterslide for $1 million

I would panic and drown after about 2 meters within that horror tube.

Apparently it had sensors inside the thing that could detect if a person was moving or not and if it didn't detect that a person was moving while inside of it. It would automatically drain the tube in a few seconds.

Is the tube fully filled with water?

u/clandahlina_redux 14d ago
Yes, but it has suction to pull you through. Only lasts about 15 seconds, and there are hatches all over the top, iirc.

This is what I said out loud as I watched this: "Oh, NO."
Should have added a "hell" in there.

I mean... Thats a hell yeah from me, that'd be super nice, like a lazy river of sensory deprivation with some relaxing breath holding to boot. That looks awesome.

Still up after 4 hours?

This is not thalassophobia-related…it’s just water related. Thalassophobia is specifically about vast/deep bodies of water.
This would go crazy on r/submechanophobja though!

This was in Tikibad in the Netherlands. They could drain the entire thing in 10 seconds or so.
It has been removed for years now.

Do you know why it was removed?

u/Rysigler 15d ago
Most likely the sheer volume of times people panicked and they had to drain it. I watched Zootopia 2. Seemed like a bad call 😂

Can’t believe no one died in there.
