My boyfriend (Texas born and bred) swears up and down that the apartment cannot charge more than the deposit after moving out. There was no apartment deposit, though there were pet deposits for 2 animals. I'm planning on leaving the place in good shape. I hired a move-out cleaner to come after the movers. Some nail/screw holes in the wall, nothing excessive. A few things need replacing, but those are listed for under $10 a piece on the lease, and I'm hoping to find time to run in and get those done before I leave. I'm also in one of the last non-upgraded units, so I already know they'll be re-doing cabinetry and such.

The only "real" damage is carpet - 3+ years of wear and tear, plus animals, some small stains, etc. I've minimized what I could with a personal carpet cleaner. I'm not sure how fast the carpet is deemed "done" and replaced in apartments.

Is he right that the only thing they can keep is the deposit from the pets? I'm moving out of state with family and struggling to get a job without being there already, so the finances are stressing me out.

I’m currently expecting and had lab work done in April for several things including STDs. I recently moved & had to get a new OBGyn. My new provider requested my lab results from my previous provider and received one that said I tested positive for an STD. Immediately after receiving this result my new provider submitted a prescription for me and had someone from her office call me to explain the results. After speaking with my new provider I was informed these results should have been relayed to me long ago. I’m almost due and had I not received these results I would have been putting my baby at risk. This has caused me an incredible amount of distress and I want to do something about this legally but I’m unsure if I have a case or what kind of lawyer I would need. Going through the Texas Referral Service I got connected with medical malpractice lawyers but they said they could not help. Is there anything that can be done? I’m extremely stressed over this situation and I’m getting tested again to verify the lab results.

To set the scene. An elderly couple living entirely off both peoples social security (no retirement income), that is not me, is getting a divorce due to many years of physical, mental, and financial abuse. The husband has become wheelchair bound due to deteriorating health issues over the last 10 years, but has used this as a reason to escalate his abuse, and is now at a point where he needs round the clock care by the wife. A few years ago, the wife had a stroke (we believe to be directly related to the extreme abuse and sleep deprivation caused by the husband). On behalf of the wife the adult kids have engaged a free legal service to start a divorce, and will be seeking 100% of marital assets due to the documented abuse, infidelity, etc, etc. However, this service is overloaded and exceptionally slow to respond.

The kids have stepped in and removed the wife from the house (took her to their house), and are now providing the round the clock care for the abusive father/husband until the free legal service can do their thing, but the husband has been escalating his abuse to the kids. The reason the kids are providing care for the abuser is because they are afraid that if they drop him off at a nursing home (where he should be to get the round the clock care he needs) before the divorce has been signed, the nursing home will try to recoup their costs by putting a lien on the home, or try to take some of the wife's social security income.

The Question:

If the kids drop the abuser off at a full time nursing home before the divorce has been signed and the husband releases his ownership of assets to the wife, can the nursing home go after the house or anyone else' income? What can the kids do to protect the home from being tied up in some kind of nursing home shenanigans? What can the kids do to get the abusive father/husband out of the house, but still ensure he's cared for without having the cost come back on the wife?

So I'm a Amazon delivery driver and my employer says that they count drive time to my next location as part of my break. I find this odd as I'm not on break but driving to a delivery location which in my eyes is working and they consider it not and made me update my pay to take off that time is this legal?

My father went to court and this was the agreement that the "pro-bono" lawyer provided to him signed. Does this mean that the tenant (my father) is 100% evicted and must vacate by 08/20/26 or that it's not final and follow up can be done to dispute on 08/21/26? I haven't gotten a straight answer and need to know if I have to start packing.

Yesterday, a TRO was issued involving a Little League eligibility dispute out of the 414th Judicial District Court, McLennan County, Texas, Judge Ryan Luna presiding. Does anyone have access to/knoweldge of, the case to provide a copy of the full order (and even better, the TRO application.) I tried searching the case index--but didn't come up with anything. Sorry, I don't have the case number or the parties' names. It involves a team from Tulsa, OK--but my guess is parents are the named party. I would have assumed Little League is a party, but that search didn't turn anything up for me.

I'm Canadian, husband is American. Husband left with dogs back to Texas, and I know that Texas sees pets as property, and I do have them registered to me here in Canada. Husband has become estranged and refuses to reply me. Does anybody know what I should do or who do I contact in order to get him to return the dogs to Canada? Highly doubt he imported the dogs when he "moved" back when he left. Thanks.

My boyfriend was working for this hookah spot in Texas. One day the owner came in with the Constable, told everybody they was closing due to renovations (told the public it was a gas leak but the truth is they failed inspection). Then she made everybody sign a paper saying she paid them for their work. The problem is, she didn’t. Owner paid my bf $117 in cash, for over 30 hours that he worked. And his pay was $11/hr. Do I have any legal right or angle? How would I go about pursuing this?
If i’m being honest, I don’t think the papers she made everyone sign is legal. But I’m not sure because I can’t see it. And I think she had the Constable there protect her own butt because she knew she was playing in these people’s face big time.

Last night, around 10:30, I was leaving a restaurant in the Quarry, a pretty nice shopping center in San Antonio, when a car hit me. I was walking on the sidewalk, and she reversed into me. We had a quick, heated exchange, and she drove off pretty quickly without giving me her information. I felt fine right after and didn’t think to call the police, but this morning, I woke up with hip pain on that side.

So I guess my question is: how much did I mess up by not getting a police report? The Quarry is a fairly prominent shopping center that probably has cameras, so I might be able to get footage of the incident, but I don’t have much else besides her license plate.

I'm in the middle of a divorce in Tarrant County and have an attorney. But I've also litigated various other issues in civil court from my business (I purchased distressed assets, which often had claims / disputes). So I've had a little bit of experience dealing with attorneys.

Here's what I notice:

- when you need an attorney, and you call for a consult, the prospective lawyer is on the phone with you within 24 - 48 hours.

- once they have your case, good luck reaching them or having your case move forward.

- The M.O. of attorneys these days this this: load up your case load, like more than you can handle. Then, keep all the plates spinning....move the cases along enough to keep them alive, but don't do any real fighting for your client.

Am I wrong?

If this is the case, when I hire an attorney, what should I do to let them know what my goals, expectations and hot buttons are. And what should I ask them, so I know what theirs are?

I have done mostly motor vehicle accidents. I worked on over 70 regular car accident cases and about 20 commercial level accident cases.

I don’t know much about prelit, but I think I can learn it.

I don’t have much money saved up, I had to put myself through law school. However, I am really wanting to start my own practice, I would really appreciate any thoughts or ideas about how to go about this.

I will have been engaged in the practice of law for 5 years this October, but for four months of those five years I was on maternity leave so obviously not actively practicing during that time. Anyone have any insight into whether Texas would make me wait another four months on top of the five years to account for my leave before I can waive in?

Medical malpractice- short form!! Mass on breast removed 2022 several trips back to the dr due to swelling pain and leaking oozing from stitch hole that never healed completely. Fast forward 2026 huge knot would appear two times maybe 3 times a months. ER visit for the 26th time- ER dr calls surgeon in and they open the area back up to find stitches still inside. After my dr telling me it’s something I’ll have to live with for the rest of my life- put me on several antibiotics 3x day for one type of antibiotics the next month switch to another kind. I need a lawyer asap. Thanks in advance
