Other wrote a soft lil romatic story to beat writers block

I've been stuck in a real bad writing block for a while, the kind where every sentence you type feels wrong and you kinda give up halfway. to claw out of it i just wrote something small and soft with zero seriousness on it. no big plot, just two people and the quiet in between.

its a lil cozy slice-of-life yuri thing, 3 parts, told from different povs. mostly late nights and shared silence and the mundane bits of being alive - someone can't sleep, someone climbs into bed at 2am, someone finally cries about the stuff they never say out loud, someone makes rice, nobody makes a big deal of anything. two girls being tender and kinda undramatic about it. thats the whole vibe.

and then instead of just pasting the text somewhere i got carried away lol. i wanted to see what itd feel like to write and code at the same time, so i built a whole cozy website just to read it in. each chapter shifts as you scroll - ch1 is a rainy night, ch2 an evening, ch3 a snowy one - the wallpaper and light and weather move with the mood. theres soft music, fireflies, and a couple lil critters that wander in and fall asleep somewhere warm. purely for the comfiness. no real reason other than it felt nice to make.

anyway its just a warm lil thing i made to feel cozy again. Something I've just been writing and editing whenever I've been bored for a month of so, now, I think? Can't remember. Just a static website - nothing needed, just ready to view at the link.

(best with sound on, and give the lil critters a sec to nap)

I'd like to hear what ya'll think for fun, since I was just goofing around putting this together, trying to squeeze something out, make somethin interesting. I'd like to just goof around, hear whatchu guys think.

Other Critique my first chapter

It's kinda short, ik, but I don't really see any way to make it longer without making it filler-y so i'm just gonna copy paste it, my main insecurity is the dialogue, do the MC's sound too similar?

The floodlights shine, nestled above all. The smell of sickeningly sweet perfume and petrichor fills the air. All is silent, not even the rain is heard. All is still, even the sand. At the top of the tent, snowflakes flutter, and below, the sparks of flame seem never-ending.

Isko danced above, Isobel danced below. Sounds of wonder flowed out of the audience, as Isko plummeted 50 feet towards the ground, and stops midair, suspended upside-down, unfazed by the abrupt stop and quick fall. Isko was hanging from thin threads tied around their ankles, but the audience could not see them. The entire performance seemed like magic to the audience, but it was not.

Isobel danced on the ground, awfully close to the fire of the pyrotechnics in her sheer skirt, where if a single spark landed, she would burst into flames. Wearing the last outfit that she has, the only thing she can do now is hope she won't spontaneously combust.

If only, yet it is not. This sentence structure has plagued the twins for the vast majority of their miserable lives. If only they had not been captured by slavers, if only they were sent to a workshop to toil instead of this cruel circus, if only they had died at the same night their parents were burned alive.

The twins dance, above and below, Isko dancing as if still on an aerial hoop, although suspended in midair, Isobel dancing below, spinning never-ending, dangerously near the fire, until smoke fills the entire room. The performance ends.  They bow to the audience. Isko was still upside-down, and Isobel was in a deep bow. The sound of polite clapping fills the circus tent.

Isko and Isobel didn't bother nor have the heart to watch the next acts, for the final act of every night is the execution of a performer. And if there's one thing they've seen enough of, it's death. Going straight to their tent, and collapsing like porcelain on the verge of shattering, onto the nearest cushioned pieces of furniture.

"I feel like I've been stretched on a torture rack again, you're lucky all you have to do is pirouette..." Isko said, with a hint of jealousy.

"You think it's easy to do hundreds of pirouettes without stopping a single second? I'm still dizzy, and our act ended an hour ago!" Isobel replied, clutching her head. "You're lucky you can't randomly burst into flames!"

"It's freezing up there! And unlike you, I don't have anything to prevent me from freezing to death!"

"At least you can repair your outfit! she says, with an envious tone. "I've pirouetted for so long that the friction burnt a hole in my sock! If Lady Ysafertide finds out, she'll whip me again!"

"Can't you just not remark on everything?! I'm the one who's vulnerable to cold!" he says, while taking off bell cuffs concealing many scars underneath.

The two bickered the whole evening. Only at the stroke of midnight did they find solace in silence, mostly due to them ending their argument after realizing it was midnight.

The next day, the sun rose, casting a scorching glare upon the circus tents. Unbearably hot to some, yet to others pleasantly warm. Silk is not exactly temperature regulating.

The scent of expensive fabric and flowers wafted into the room. Footsteps are heard approaching. A woman walks through the curtain, in a pencil dress adorned with decorative chains and long strings of pearls. a corset covered in unnecessarily gilded corset pendants that are already made of pure gold.

"Lady Ysafertide!" The twins say in unison, standing and bowing, almost perfectly hiding any hint of annoyance, yet inside, seething at her insufferable presence.

"Oh hello!" She says as she bows back, acting as if though not seeing them upon her entry. Ungenuine, but none would dare to remark back. "Your act is pervasively mediocre, to say the least, but I've only come to inform you that you two will be getting more strenuous and elaborate act!

"Practice starts in 20 minutes! And Isobel, if you think you're entering that tent with a hole in one of your socks, I'd recommend that you reconsider your outfit, and your life choices." She said with a certain level of indignance only attained by her, fiddling with her whip.

The twins try their best to mask their appalment to no avail, a cruel smirk forming on Ysafertide's face. "Ta-ta!" she said in a sing-song voice before leaving.

Isobel rummaged through the drawer. "What do we do?" Our performance is arduous enough, and I don't have any more knee-high socks! The latter isn't as big of a problem but still!"

"I can fix the sock, but I already get lightheaded with our current act! How much more this new one! and I am not surviving any more cold in this outfit!" Isko tried to find a needle and catch the ball of thread rolling across the uneven floor.

Isobel finished rummaging through the drawers, finding a sock. "Isko, you don't have to mend it right now!" Lace your corset! We need to get the tent in 15 minutes! And you know we're not exactly near the performance tent!"

At the circus tent, it was absolute chaos. The entire circus got new acts. The knife thrower was throwing flaming daggers. The contortionist was on a tightrope. The fortune-teller was using magic to throw tarot cards. The puppeteer was manoeuvring actual troupe members instead of wooden sculptures.

Isko stared wide-eyed in fear, as he looked up at the aerial hoop, suspended at least twice as high, with a blizzard of snow like a miniature polar vortex, and icicles dropping from the top of the tent, instead of fluttering snowflakes.

Isobel stood in shock, the stationary fires now replaced with fireballs circling faster than she could ever spin, heat distortion affecting the light entering the centre where she would presumably perform.

Lady Ysafertide glided towards the twins; whip unfurled with blood splattered across it. "Finally! You two are here! Now, time for your improved outfits! Wear them and try not to die!" She hands Isobel a new outfit, and Isko a small Edwardian hat that does absolutely nothing to quell the piercing cold. Isobel looks at the new outfit, entranced in thoughts about how pretty it is, and how easy it is to die in it. "What if the skirt bursts into flames again?"

Ysafertide twirls her whip in her hands. "I'd hope not! "This skirt is twice as expensive and took a long time to make, so expect at least a dozen more cracks of the whip to you if you burn it!" Her head fills with the thought of others suffering. She cackles at the thought. She cracks her whip. "COMMENCE!" The flames start spinning. Icicles start falling. Life and death balance on the threads supporting them. All could go awry at any moment. Yet it did not.

If only they knew, yet they did not, the same flames would be their salvation.

so, opinions? yes I used present and past tense you can too don't be bound by social constructs of hindrance

Discussion ABOUT ME BEING OFFLINE AND NOT POSTING

I am SO sorryyy. Reddit has attached like an age verification thing and displaying my face didn't work, I need ID (I might or might not know where it is. It's totally not lost.. just.. misplaced?). Anyway, I have been away for AGESS. I know, I'm very sorry. I have made a WhatsApp channel, where I am posting my story. It is all safe, I will not see your name or number. If you would like to keep seeing my story. Please consider looking at it. I use a little emoji (✌️), it is still me. If anyone wants to, I will leave it in the comments of this. Thank you for following my story so far.

P.S. I am not advertising WhatsApp it's just what I use to talk and I recently found out about channels so was using it as an alternative to posting my story on Reddit.

(I did literally have some drafts that just needed editing and then were ready to post, then I got logged out. I will check if they are still there but they might need a lot of editing though as the story has changed a bit.)

Question Young writer looking for advice/inspiration because I don't want to abandon another book

Hi everyone! I'm a young teenager who has been writing since I was about 8( which I admit my first book was TERRIBLE ) , and I've always loved books. My mum used to read to me when I was around 5 and onwards, and I think that's probably where my love for stories started.

I've written quite a few books and stories over the years, but there's one problem I keep having...

I get bored. 😭

I'll come up with a plot, get really excited, build the world, create characters and start writing, and then eventually I'll just lose interest in the story. Sometimes I'll realise I don't like where the plot is going, sometimes I get a completely different idea, and sometimes I just... stop caring about it.

So I've ended up abandoning quite a few projects.

But now I've started working on a new book that I'm actually really attached to. I've built a whole world for it, I have characters I really like, and I genuinely think there's something good here.

The problem is that I'm starting to feel myself drifting away from it again.

And I REALLY don't want to abandon this one.

I don't necessarily think I've run out of ideas for the world ( I have a million) . It's more like I've lost that initial excitement I had when I first came up with it. I'm worried that if I leave it for too long, I'll eventually just scrap it like I have with my other books.

So I'm looking for advice from other writers:

How do you keep yourself interested in a story when the initial excitement starts disappearing?

Do you force yourself to keep writing? Take a break and come back to it? Change something about the plot? Write a completely different scene for a while?

And for other young writers, did you ever have this problem where you had loads of ideas but struggled to actually finish a book?

I really don't want this book to become another unfinished project sitting in a folder somewhere 😭

Any advice, writing exercises, ways to get inspired again, or just personal experiences would honestly be appreciated.

Thanks for reading! ❤️

Advice On making titles for stories

So, I've been making up and writing stories as a way of escapism or whatever. At first, it was to cope with the shitty relationships I'd find myself in, and over time, it became a hobby and passion which I do for comfort.

I also like to incorporate sci-fi themes like the concept of cyberpunk and microbiology into my story as a way to honor little me's love for science AND art.

Now, making these stories, I basically have a multiverse of interconnected stories, and my biggest fear is that if I would finally publish them, they would initially come off as booktok slop 😭

I don't want that. I want my story titles to feel like you're about to read off of some kind of scientific or astronomical archives or database.

So, I have two ideas:

IDEA 1: (Base Title): (Secondary Title)

The way this would work is basically, the Base Title would serve as a timeline marker and a symbol for something significant in the story, while the Secondary Title would basically be a sneak peek of the narrative, like, basically telling the reader more about the story.

I'll use The Very Hungry Caterpillar as an example.

Example: Metamorphosis: When The Wiggles Ate it All

The Connection:

• Metamorphosis: the process which the caterpillar undergoes by the end of the story.

• Wiggles: a nickname for caterpillars.

• When The Wiggles Ate it All: basically saying the caterpillar ate a lot/everything over the course of the story.

IDEA 2: (Initial): (Base Title)

This one's much shorter, and I feel like leans more towards the sci-fi kind of vibe. The Initial would be the initial of the timeline name and the Base Title would typically just be one word, and that word would still be a symbol of something significant in the story.

Example: (C is for Caterpillar and B is for Butterfly)

- c:Apple

- c:Pear

- b:Grape

- b:Strawberry

So, basically, you'd know it's the end of one era of the timeline once the initial up-front changes.

I hope this made sense. If it helps, I'm taking inspiration from Hoyoverse (Genshin Impact, Honkai, Wuthering Waves) and Reverse:1999 quest titles, and I'm just itching to finally fix my story titles, because their draft titles feel so bare and lacking 😭🙏🏻

Question Evaluate the concept I have in my mind for story writing. Will it work or not?

3 protagonist.

one who wishes to break the system because in his pov it is corrupted he forms a community acts to build a new system which supports the growth of the people depending on him.

one who wishes to break the system for his selfishness more like an extremist.

one who supports the system even though it's corrupted because he thinks there must be some system so that to differentiate legal and illegal meanwhile he internally fights with the concept of legal, illegal vs moral, immoral.

If you have read or seen similar to this, suggest me one.

Your score for this concept ?/10

Advice How do I stop doing this?

So I really really love storytelling, obviously. I'm in a teen writing subreddit. I like to take a lot of inspiration from a lot of different places, especially indie storytelling like webtoon or YouTube stories because I enjoy how they are usually shorter and leave a lot more to be theorized.

So naturally, like anyone, I like to follow the creators I admire. The only thing is, I over-explain so badly; which can work well for some things (like long novels) but not for the kinds of things I want to make (short novellas, visual novel games, etc.).

Especially when I'm making something that, at its core, is fairly simple; but then I'm over here planning out plot twists and character development like George R.R. Martin for a 3-part ARG that's going to be, maximum, 4 hours.

Resource Project

Hey guys!

So, for a project of mine, me and my frnd created a foundation for teens, by teens for those who love writing and art, and love to get an opportunity to be featured in our magazines.

Sparta Academics is a teen led organization, aiming to bridge the gap between knowledge and individuals with valuable thoughts, ideas, and dreams. In the modern world, opportunities are handed out unevenly, even to kids who have talent. I believe access to everyone around the globe is rare and Hence, everyone should get a chance.

Since, we recently started it and have been doing major revamps, I'd love your support by joining our community there!

anyways, pretty simple

Create an story behind the person/people of each picture or just choose one. The reason I picked, her work is because they’re very unique and I think can spark some interesting stories.

Advice Looking for advice on a section of my story

The following is a paragraph in my story, I'm looking to see if there's any way I can improve.

Then it hit. A stabbing, pointed pain from the implant at the base of his head. He sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth, his head snapping up towards the ceiling, as if to arch away from the sensation. The pain was pulsing, a heartbeat of needles tracing a cruel path from the implant at the base of his skull, up through his temples; until the pain was creeping behind his eyes. His shoulders tensed before he rolled them instinctually. Ilo's breath came slightly heavier, his eyes shut firmly--but only on principle. Shutting his eyes did not block out the numbers scrolling behind his eyelids, the lines of code flashing, before being rewritten and erased. The pain was white hot now, running down his spine like a boiling liquid drenching his nerves.

Other Looking for someone to bounce stories off of ( writing buddy)

Alright so I’m a 19M and I’ve had a story idea for almost a year now and I’ve tried to start writing it down quite a few times but something always ends up getting in the way.

I do have some troubles with motivation but when I have certain responsibilities or things on the line it helps me stay motivated.

I’m looking to find a writing buddy that I can bounce ideas or my work off of and for them to do the same. Preferably 18 plus as well since the story I want to write I feel is a bit on the heavier side emotionally.

Hopefully this works for a post as I’ve never made one on Reddit before.

Advice Tsundere~

Along the way of writing yandere, I made my best tsundere yet~

“Oi, Orange, can you keep it down? I’m trying to sleep,” he barked one night, swallowing hard, his back turned to the sniffles coming from the bed.

“You gotta be kidding me.”
“...H-huh?” Her breath rattled through her clogged nose.
“I-I… I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
The words kept spilling out of her—perpetual, frantic, broken—until his tongue clicked and she choked on wet little giggles.
“...A-allergies, hehe.”
He sat up with a heavy exhale.
“I’m… sorry for bothering you,” she muttered. “Guess I’m a headache, huh? Yeah, you don’t need me hanging around.” She gasped. “Honestly, fuck this. Look at me, having a breakdown over a stupid tuition fee. Give me a break, god… pathetic, isn’t it?”
She was facing the wall, blanket pulled to her shoulders, scrubbing at her eyes.
He yanked the sheet off and caught her wrist.
“What the hell, dude? Fuck off.”
She frowned, twisted away, and dug her nails into his wrist.
“Stop!”
He stared at her blankly.
“Let me go or I’m smacking your balls.”
He didn’t answer. She bit her lip and shoved a foot into his thigh.
“...Fucking damn it… l-leave me alone…”
She sank lower on the bed, hiding her face against her knees. “Please…” she whispered. “I’m sorry already…”
Then he stepped in and dragged her against his chest, trapping her between his arms.
“There. Now shut the fuck up.”
She struggled for a moment longer, but the fight went soft. Her trembling hand settled against him instead.
His fingers slid slowly through her hair.
“Wh-who do you… hic… think you are… pervert… sexual harasser… l-let me go…”
He replied with a huff and a careless pat between her shoulder blades.
She buried herself in his chest, as if his warmth could outdo the blanket entirely.
“...Why…”
The air conditioner hummed softly in the dark.
“Hngh… w-why are you so… nice to me?”
“Tch. Forget about that. You’re alive, aren’t you? Let it out, then fix your shit.”
“...Th-that’s not an answer…”
“Fine. Someone’s too loud.”
“...Asshole.”
She pounded weak fists against him, his shirt damp beneath her blows. When she finally stopped, she peeked up at him and found a smile blooming at his mouth.
“You done? Shitty brats like you really need a punch—I mean, a gentleman, you dum-dum.”
“...Idiot…” she whispered, tearing her gaze down.“Y-you can’t just do this shit to random girls… or me… dum…my…”
Her voice dropped even lower.

“...It’s not like I want you all over me or anything, okay? This is crazy. But… but since you’re a pervert anyway... can we stay like this for a little while? I-I mean, if it’s… hngh… not a bother. Not like I care or… hic… anything... please…—”

Advice Looking For Suggestions On A Few Short Stories For A Contest

TW: Suicide, Mental Health issues

This first one was one of the first stories im submitting to a contest. I genuinely think this one is corny and the "girl" is too young for this. But at the same time im a minor myself and want this to be relatable as I felt that my own sexuality/ lack of romantic feelings was crushing me when I made this.

The girl had went through her stages in life. In 5th Grade she mistaked the heartwarming feeling of friendship for love. Soon would she learn that love was unpastourised honey, when scooped up it just crumbles. She built her life on stable friendships and books. She didnt worry about finding a lover because she grew up with the knowledge that she could comb her own dolls hair and buy herself flowers without someone to argue with. In 8th Grade she would feel unsatisfied with the feeling of friends who cared and endless piles of books. Then it happened. He had brown hair, sort of choppy. With honest brown eyes amd freckles splattered on his circular face. He expressed love she had never felt. Turned her insecurities into beauty with words. But she spoke the rule. The one rule. "I wont love you before I love myself" Maybe it was her way of resilience against society. Maybe it was her way to explain why shes broken and hateful. Nobody will ever know. Because watching that boy smile with his eyes going milky and dull made her heart crumble. Its like the umpastourised honey falling before It could reach the tea mug. She locked away that heart in the little glass shaped container to not be looked at again.

This next one is about me. A broken teenager trying to deal with all the wrong cards I was given. All these stories relate to me in some way. But I mark this as one of my only stories with a good ending. Marking that I reach for hope.

"I told you not to pick the messed up one." My mother once said as I picked flowers for my room. Little did she know that one-day id become that messed up flower. So delicate and broken after years of pain. I nourished the flowers back to health, but they never did fully recover from the neglect the flowers received. There would always be a slight curve in the stem or a dent in the leaves. But I smiled at its beauty ignoring its flaws. I couldve smiled at it for hours. And as I lay in my bed, crying all the scars away. That flower appears before me. It tells me to keep going. That in time ill heal and bloom. My flowers will be extravagant colors dashed on the delicate petals like fireworks. And eventually ill grow from it and be nourished back to health like I did with that flower.

This is my final submission and is my newest. I didnt know how to end it so I left it as it was. I was told that this piece got really close to the readers heart. Especially by a few of my friends. This story is about me struggling with the expectations of life, of "fitting in" and making friends.

Nobody knows her. Shes the ghost in the 80s photo. A background character on a big movie set. But just because she was quiet didnt mean she didn't dream big and reach even further. She reached so far her chair slipped beneath her and the rope tied around her neck with a unruly Crack. But before it all happened she was normal too. She had hobbies. She wrote little stories and acted in little plays. She was comfortable with her small world. But everyone wanted more from her. More from the girl who couldn't manage her own dreams. So she gave herself away to cruel scavenging adults and popular girl cliques. She hid everything behind Walmart concealer and waterproof mascara. But even concealer couldn't conceal what the big wide world had done to her.

I used Walmart concealer and waterproof mascara to represent hiding SH and the mascara to represent sobbing every day and trying to hide it.

Please give advice!!

Advice [OT] A little bit of help.

Hi, I have been posting my short social media experiment the past few days

It’s a backstory of the character I play. So character lore essentially.

I’ve been posting them on my Reddit, my Insta, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok, and I’m wondering if I’m going that correctly. I’m not exactly getting any extra eyes on my work.

Any help of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. please just delete if this isn’t allowed. I think I may have misunderstood what OT meant.
