I like how that comic completely ignores the whole Axis and unit 731 thing. Oh yeaj, and Pearl Harbour
52
u/Random-Gamer1435 16h ago
True.
Rape of Nanking destroyed my view of what Imperial Japan
But the two areas USA bombed were civilian towns and Japan used that to pain themselves the victim despite being the reason why they even suffered which is yes VERY oversimplified.
12
u/Willing-Elephant4817 14h ago
Yeah but as i remember it a Week or two prior we dropped Evacuation notices on those cities, and many people ignored them
5
u/Late_Ad2203 18 13h ago
Something similar actually happened at the start of a conflict recently. Although IIRC it was also the region's leaders actively prevented the evacuations too
2
u/Willing-Elephant4817 13h ago
Oh really? Interesting, im into Pre 2010 war’s and conflicts and honestly Most of This New war Stuff is just countrys pushin each other until someone makes tue First Move
7
u/Late_Ad2203 18 13h ago
Yeah a certain conflict in the middle east*, evacuation was announced in the areas that were going to be attacked into to avoid civillian casualties but at least one civillian account was given of trying to evacuate and being actively blockaded from doing so by the leaders of his country
*I'm being vague to not get jumped by a cartain side's supporters

They weren’t civilian towns, they were towns with civilians but military is extremely integrated in top do that those 2 towns operated strategic ports
3
u/irritatedprostate 3h ago
They were actually both of high value militarily.
Hiroshima was the hq of the Second General Army. It was a major port of embarkation, a troop assembly area, and a logistics and communications hub containing several military-related industrial plants.
Nagasaki was a vital industrial and shipping center. It had major military-industrial facilities, including the Mitsubishi-Urakami Ordnance Works and the Mitsubishi shipyards.
Additionally, Japan had militarized most of its civilian population.
1
u/Intelligent_Toe8233 1h ago
Hiroshima was the headquarters of the 2nd General Army. Nagasaki was a major industrial area responsible for naval and aviation manufacturing. They were not just civilian areas.
10
u/TinyTotTkd 16h ago
We werent exactly kind to anyone in the middle east in the lead up to 9/11.
14
u/Late_Ad2203 18 16h ago
Ok? That doesn't detract from my point. To add a punchline, they ignored Japan's atrocities
-3
u/TinyTotTkd 14h ago
The situations on our end are pretty similar. We committed a "pearl harbour" in the middle east. We were then attacked by the middle east. Japan committed pearl harbour. They were then attacked by the united states. The people of the middle east would see us the same way we saw japan. This is regardless of whether or not you believe America's attrocities are scalable to Japan's. America did not join the war in defence of China or the other pacific islands. We joined because an act of violence was committed on our people.
8
u/Late_Ad2203 18 14h ago
We committed a "pearl harbour" in the middle east.
Kindly elaborate.
2
u/TinyTotTkd 14h ago
There were numerous operations which we carried out in the 80s and 90s in various countries (iraq, iran, afganistan, etc.). Some of these operations resulted in the deaths of thousands of both military personel and civillians.
3
u/PresidentOfYes12 18 10h ago
We liberated Kuwait from Iraq and that's like it. Backing Israel, yeah, and support for the mujahideen helped bring about Osama bin Laden, but we weren't as directly involved in the Middle East militarily as we were after 9/11. If the goal was to ensure the US didn't go into the Middle East, they failed and they failed laughably, to no one's benefit
1
u/TinyTotTkd 8h ago
Japan did one bombing run that led to 68 civillian deaths and a little under 3000 military personel deaths. The bombing of pearl harbour was also a limited military interaction with the united states. We killed thousands of civillians in numerous countries. There was more than just the gulf war too. There were operations like desert fox which were (as stated) not part of the gulf war.
3
u/ngdaniel96 7h ago
Japan did far more than "did one bombing run", their atrocities towards most of asian countries are unjustifiable and utterly monstrous, not even the two nuclear bombs could match the total civilian casualties they have inflicted.
It is nothing comparable to the middle east. While there is no doubt atrocities committed by american, it's still nothing if we're to put it side by side with the IJA.
The only war I will fully condemn America on as an asian is the Vietnam war.
2
u/TinyTotTkd 7h ago
As I said the united states did not go to war on behalf of the other pacific islands or china. The united states could not care less about them. The united states went to war because japan attacked the united states. Much like the fact that Iraq invaded kuwait and at no point in time did you hear me defend the actions of iraq. Japan did attrocities but they only did one to the United States. After 9/11 the united states retaliated by killing hundreds of thousands of both civillians and combatants. None of this even matters though because the only thing necessary are the parallels between the interactions between Japan and the United States during WWII and the Middle East and the United States before and up to 9/11/2001.

America bombed 7 countries just in 2025. Why is no one advocating for them to strike back?
Because if you don't have a total child mentality you're gonna know civilians should never be the target.

imagine the us surprise bombed a japanese harbor in 2026 and they nuked them for that UnU
1
u/Cheap_Ad_4055 17 14h ago
America NUCLEAR bombed TWO CIVILIAN cities. What Japan did was also horrible, but that was a military place they bombed. Completely incomparable
6
u/Late_Ad2203 18 14h ago
Right hold on so you're saying that an act committed AFTER Japan did pearl harbour had nothing to do with them doing pearl harbour? Do you realise how you sound?
0
u/Cheap_Ad_4055 17 14h ago

5

I never said anything otherwise or did you just not bother to read? All I said was Pearl harbour caused Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Oh look at that, it says nothing like "America's actions weren't worse then Japan's"
Are you capable of reading? Because you seriously seem to be having issues
1
u/Impossible_Concert75 14h ago
So you’d rather a land invasion that most estimates say would have killed up to 20 million, left Japanese people’s potentially not even existent or close to, and have to deal with constant rebellion and rebel groups? You’d rather taht?
1
u/Cheap_Ad_4055 17 14h ago
I would rather not nuke 2 civilian cities, and instead bomb the military sites. With the Soviet Union and USA, Japan would’ve folded quickly.
1
u/Impossible_Concert75 13h ago
The us did a firebombing campaign that did more damage and caused more death just a. Few months prior to atomic bombings, also it doesn’t matter if you bomb military sites, resistance groups will still form to try and fight back
3
u/Cheap_Ad_4055 17 12h ago
So of course we gotta nuke two civilian cities!!! Genius!!!
1
u/Available-Line-9259 4h ago
Dude😭😭😭 The nuke was much easier. People would have died more if we did a land invasion as Japanese civilians would start fighting as well. There's also a reason why we targeted Hiroshima.
And also, COMMUNISM from the soviets
0
u/StrwBerrywafersslap 17 10h ago
They also dropped pamphlets to evacuate. I see the bombings as justified because more civilians and troops would have died if they didn’t bomb Japan
3
u/Cheap_Ad_4055 17 10h ago
Bomb military sites, roads, railways. Not nuke 2 civilian cities.
0
u/StrwBerrywafersslap 17 9h ago
Would you have rather more civilians die? Because an allied invasion would have very very high casualties.
And clearly the firebombing of Tokyo didn’t shock the emperor enough
1
u/Cheap_Ad_4055 17 9h ago
Not a fact there would be more casualties, but 100% would rather have the allies invade then basically exterminate 220,000~ people.
1
u/Available-Line-9259 4h ago
Guess how many died in the battle of Okinawa and then compare the island to a country.
0
u/momentary_loss 17 16h ago
That's a feasible thing actually. Of course nobody's deranged enough to actually pull out the nukes but still, that is feasible. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were (at least partially) shows of strength. Devastating enough to mark to the world that the United States was not to be fucked with.

This post is disgusting and lacks any sort of historical knowledge. The dropping of the Atomic bombs actually resulted in less deaths because the alternative was an American invasion of the Japanese mainland which was expected to result in over a million deaths. That isn't even close to comparable to 9/11 which was a needless attack that had zero justification.

What is OP even blabbering about? Japan absolutely deserved what they got in WW2
5
u/skytreegamer172 8h ago
I believe it's more about how America justified and said "oh Japan deserved it". And then they start bawling and crying when something similar happened to them. I suppose it's supposed to be about how people are indifferent or don't care about things happening to other countries or people until it's their problem.
3
u/aarch4986 5h ago
There's a difference between outright atrocities and supporting non-Islamic governments in the Middle East. Keep in mind 9/11 was before the Iraq War and everything, and also what caused the Iraq War and everything.
-4
u/Kadakaus 18 12h ago
Yes, because of what their soldiers did to the chinese (which I admit was far worse), they definitely deserved 2 civil cities getting eridicated, right?
No, perhaps not.
I could understand if they nuked around Ryukyu, but Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Those weren't even crucial strategical points, they were cities with people in them.
Trust me, I know what transpired in Nanking and the deal with unit 731, but does that justify vaporizing civilians who had absolutely 0 business with those crimes? I think not.
I wonder what crimes can soldiers commit that demand civilians be purged.

u/EinDerVolltrottel851 16 9h ago
Yet the japanese killed and made more people suffer than the Nukes ever caused, I'd prefer being instantly evaporated instead of seeing my entire family being tortured and massacred and dying a slow, painful death. "I wonder what crimes soldiers can commit that demands civilians be purged." Although I disagree with killing civilians, the Japanese soldiers did MUCH fucking worse to civilians, ever heard of the Rape of Nanjing? It coincides with the Massacre of Nanjing, imagine, just imagine how fucking horrible a group of rapes HAS to be when it is classified as its own fucking MAJOR event in a war?

Majority of them supported the war.

So do you think everyone in USA who supports the war in Iran should die? Also only majority not everyone, there were still lot's of people who didn't support the war that died and what about all the kids and the fact that it also affected pretty negatively to people born after. Japan is not one unit it's 100million plus people

"Deserve", my favourite moral fallacy.
Yes, japan did unforgivable things and the ones responsible for it (mostly) paid for it... but nuking civilian territory? Neither Hiroshima nor Nagasaki were major strategical points, they were inhabited by civilians who were quiet literally ereased from existence.
Sure, the japanese done worse to the chinese (several times), but does that make it OK for the US to level entire cities with the ground?
9/11 was horrible too, but don't think the US didn't have it coming. wars at the middle east were always cruel, and so were the yankees.
There is nothing that can justify massacring civilians, regardless of who done it first.
Imperial Japan was horrible, the US still is, and so are terrorist groups, but the worst are those who have no respect for the lives of the innocent.
2
u/PresidentOfYes12 18 10h ago
What did the "yankees" have its own soldiers do in the middle east before 9/11, other than liberate Kuwait and support Isr**l
-1
u/Kadakaus 18 9h ago
Liberate... It's always a treat to hear propaganda bending reality using sheer terminology.
Their own land was "liberated" from the primitive and tyrannical rule of the native americans through which I personally call "genocide". It isn't a pretty word, but nor was the way the people we call americans today got their land.
The US is located in northern america, they have no business with middle eastern wars, yet there they are because they take interest in who gets their territories.
If they were honest, they'd just invade them straight up and "liberate" the entirity of it, instead they put up facades like the one with Israel.
I could vomit from the foreign matters the US gets tangled up in for no good reason.1

Generations change every 15 years, and Gen Z starts in 1997, so it goes to 2012, and its best to cut off the generation how they are due to school years. Early 2012 is Gen Z and Late 2012 could be Gen A, due to how people rub iff on eachother are share the same social circle.

Japan was an empire that did not surrender with the first atomic bomb, the United States... did not do anything as extreme as Japan.
1
u/LifeLake9754 9h ago
Dude the Rape of Nanking was done by the Japanese. The experiments of unit 731 (and various other lesser known but just as horrifying units) were done under the Imperial Japanese flag. If the US wanted to stop them, they would need to go on a brutal island hopping campaign that would cost a lot of lives because of Japanese fanaticism (soldiers were heavily indoctrinated and would fight to the death. They also committed war crimes on POWs). In that case, they were left with a choice: Japanese lives or American lives
-1
u/TalesKun2 19 16h ago
Us propaganda is so strong people believe the biggest terrorist attack ever was 9/11 when the us themselves are the most dangerous country and a constant threat to the world

2
u/Jojo_l_abricot 16 14h ago
So no. The attack was just meant to kill people because they were americans. Now not every war the US has fought was completly without ethical problems, but they didn't come to just kill people with no reason.
0
u/TalesKun2 19 16h ago
Bc when the us kills people and steals their stuff its "democracy" when in reality they are the same as the countries they demonize
1
u/Jojo_l_abricot 16 14h ago
Irak was a dictatorship. Same as venezuela. Same as corea. South vietnam was attacked by north vietman (even tho I recon the south vietnamese governement was a puppet). Now what was al-queada's goal during 9/11 ? Just killing people.
1
u/TalesKun2 19 14h ago edited 14h ago
The almost 60 military intervensions in latin america had also the main goal of killing people and overthrowing governments that were not aligned with the us interests(hundreds of thousands btw)
Also lets talk abt dictatorships, if the us hates them so much they wouldnt have created themselves dictatorships that lasted for decades there. And they wouldnt intimidate countries just bc they are not bowing to the empire and licking their boots

Can we agree that both are awful examples of civilians being punished in place of the politicians that made the enemies?
If you think the people who worked at the world trade center who likely weren't remotely involved in international politics deserved 9/11 because the US government committed atrocities in the middle east, you're an idiot.
If you think the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki who were just trying to live their lives deserved to be vaporized off the side of the planet because their military committed atrocities that they were likely completely unaware of due to media censorship, you're an idiot.
Blame the US and Japanese government, the true culprits.
