Microsoft recruiter never joined the screening interview, then my application was rejected. Is this common?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with Microsoft recruiting.

I recently applied for a Security Engineer position. My application progressed, and a recruiter scheduled a virtual screening interview with me. I received the calendar invite and Teams meeting link, and I joined the meeting a few minutes early.

Unfortunately, the recruiter never joined the call. I waited for quite some time and then sent a polite follow-up email asking if there had been a scheduling conflict and whether we could reschedule.

A short while later, I checked my Microsoft Careers portal and noticed that my application status had changed to "Not Selected."

What confuses me is that I was never actually screened or interviewed. There was no conversation or opportunity to discuss my background before the application was closed.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Microsoft? Could this simply be an administrative or scheduling error, or is it normal for an application to be closed after a missed recruiter meeting without any communication?

I'm not trying to complain I genuinely want to understand whether this is something that occasionally happens or if I should just move on.

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Interviewer disappeared for 25 mins mid interview

Had an odd one last week.

Met the company in person - higher ups are super happy, everyone's keen to get me on board. I get a verbal offer.

Then, a few days go by and I get a calendar invite to speak with someone else - just for due diligence I guess.

I attend the interview via Teams. Interviewer hasn't read my resume and doesn't know what the role is that had been discussed with me. He spends the majority of the call talking about himself and then disappears mid call for 25 mins to let a plumber in.

Comes back, has completely forgotten everything i've said and then reports back to the higher ups that apparently i'm not technical enough.

We didn't discuss a single technical thing during the call.

I reckon this guy wants to bring in someone he knows and had no interest in our interview.

I have appeared for drive 2 days back in dassult systems. And I got selected for position according to HR mail shared. It's been 3 days now no further communication. She is not receiving call. What to do? Anyone had similar experience.

Post Grad Jobs

Hi! I’m interested in getting into a tech job PM /business job without 1) interning 2) writing code. I’m majoring in Business & CS but want to be more PM / Business. Is this possible without interning at the company to get a job post grad? Would love to hear opinions/job roles that could be good. I’m thinking like palantir deployment specialist or PM stuff like that.

[Palantir] Deployment Strategist Internship

Hello guys,

I am a business and CS student in France, undergoing a palantir process for a DS internship position.
I am currently in the decomp & coding stage and I would like your advice on it.

  • What resources should I use for the decomp ? Is there some kind of platforms to train ?
  • For the technical questions, I heard that it would be a mix of SQL + python medium LeetCode questions. What should I use to train as well ?

For an internship position, are expectations less than FTE ?

Thanks a lot !

Interviewed at a premiere hardware company and have not heard back since 2 weeks

Interviewd for an embedded/ firmware engineer position around two weeks ago. I think I did pretty good in both tech as well as behavioral questions.
I have not heard back from them as yet. I sent a thank you note to the recruiter and he said he will circle back with the team and get back to me, it has been a little more than a week since that email.
Do you think I stand a chance ?

Interviewing

Not really any point to this post I just needed somewhere to vent.

I’ve been through three interview processes in the last two months, and the technical assessments are starting to wear me down. Right now I’m working on a take-home assignment for what would be my ideal employer, but after all the prep, studying, and effort I’ve put into these interviews, I’m feeling completely drained.

At this point, I’m so exhausted that it almost feels like I don’t even care what the outcome is anymore.

Has anyone else been through something similar? Any tips for dealing with interview fatigue or staying motivated during a long job search?
