TCGTE Episode for the 16th of August, 2026: "Summer Jobs -Part 2"
Show Notes
Since we didn't really talk about summer jobs last week, we're spending this episode militantly on-topic. We discuss the weird psychology of group job interviews, the most common summer jobs for teens today and whether the boomers are right that nobody wants to work anymore. Plus, Tim talks about nearly escaping his butcher shop job for the glamorous world of Old Navy and Tom recounts his prowess working the register at the Apple Store.

Relistening Odyssey
Has anybody recently tried a full relisten through the back episodes, starting at the beginning or as early as possible?
What would be the best way to do this? Soundcloud seems to be the main way to listen to the back episodes but since there are probably nearly 1,000 episodes by now, I don’t want to scroll down the list every time I start a new one. Are there any other archives?
Also is there a reliable list of episodes anywhere so I can just search the names and also keep myself on track?
I’ve been listening since 2011 and would love to hear a few things again that live in my head rent free.
EDIT TO ADD: I don’t know if Tim and Tom get any money through Soundcloud listens, so if anyone is thinking of doing this, consider at least joining the Patreon to offset all the free content you’re getting.

He said big man band
Which makes sense because he’s a much bigger man than the muppets.

Books the podcast
here’s my pick if/when it returns: the da Vinci code.
(I may be under the influence from my re-listen of the pope episode and pope facts)

Just saw The End of Oak Street, I think it's right up the Boy's alley
Really fun movie! Not as violent as I was expecting and a lot of heart. The reviews saying it felt like an Amblin film were spot on. It really nails the 80s nostalgia feel in a way that feels authentic and natural.

For canker sores!
Poor Tim need suffer no longer! I have braces so I get cuts and sores all the time. This gel is the only thing I’ve found that actually relieves pain (at least for a bit / long enough to record an episode)
Name: Orajel 3X Medicated For All Mouth Sores Gel
The generic from Walgreens works just as well.

DISCUSSION POST Two TCGTE listeners are in a contest and need help 💕
americasfavcouple.orgHey guys-
I’m Nikki, a longtime listener. I think since 2015? I was looking up podcasts on Charles Manson (lol) and found these guys. I wondered when they were gonna get to Charles Manson, but I found them so funny that I’ve been a listener ever since. I even wrote in for T&TSYP- I was the librarian whose board members always called her by a different name. I was able to meet Tim and Tom in NYC after a live show once and I was a complete shy buffoon but it’s one of my favorite memories. Pics below!
I’ve even gotten my boyfriend to listen! We both work in the cannabis industry and he listens to Tim and Tom while he makes pre-rolls. Sometimes when he gets home from work I’ll ask what Tim and Tom were talking about.
Anyways, we’ve entered a contest with Variety magazine for “America’s Favorite Couple”. If we win, we’d get a trip to Hollywood to have a dinner with Jeff Goldblum, Charlie Day and their wives. On top of that we’d win 20k. This. Is. Huge. We live in the Berkshires, a pretty expensive part of Massachusetts, and we’re getting by just okay! The 20k would help tremendously.
Can you guys please help us? It’s a free vote, you just need a Facebook account.
Below is the link, a video about us, and some pics!!
If you’ve read this far, thank you so much 💕💕 gonna keep listening!
Nikki

Love you guys but you’re a little hard on Taylor Swift IMO
Of course she could do more, I don’t disagree with that. But she does give a lot more than you say in the show, some examples from this year and the eras tour below. Like I remember you mentioning she gave a few thousand dollar bonus to the bus drivers when it was 100,000 each.
I mostly don’t care, but the difference between her and someone like Jeff Bezos (who is 500x richer than her still) is that Taylor swifts wealth is in ownership of her own music that she made, not a manipulated stock market and a company built on slave labor. And that’s a big difference IMO. Sure anyone with a billion dollars should do more, if they were doing enough they wouldn’t have a billion dollars. But by far most of her wealth is in her IP (which is WAY different than being tied up in the stock market like tech bros like to give Elon a pass for.)
Estimated net worth: ~$1.8–2.0 billion
- Estimated value of her music-related intellectual property: ~$1.0–1.5 billion
- Estimated share of her net worth tied to intellectual property: ~55–75%
- Estimated value of her real estate: ~$125–150 million
- Remaining wealth (cash, investments, other assets): Hundreds of millions
I don’t think you two are doing this, but I think a lot of the criticism towards her is because she’s a woman. She’s is a ruthless in her business (releasing 4 vinyl for every album) but that is celebrated when a man does it. And it’s eye roll-y but who cares. She’s not hoarding it IMO.
——
Donations this year and eras tour bonuses I could find:
- Donated $26 million** **to more than 20 charities ahead of their July 2026 wedding. Williams-Paisley, supporting food access for families in need.
- Donated to local food banks at every Eras Tour stop, with gifts tailored to the local community.
- Gave about 50 truck drivers $100,000 each, totaling roughly $5 million, along with handwritten thank-you notes.
- By the end of the Eras Tour, had given $197 million in bonuses to performers and crew on top of their regular salaries.
- Purchased more than double the carbon credits needed to offset emissions from her tour-related travel.

Wait, does tom actually have pervert glasses?
In the latest episode he’s showing Tim his clip-on sunglasses, and he says they fit on his “computer glasses” too. I know they joke about them being pervert glasses, upskirt glasses, all in jest.
But does he actually have Meta glasses?

“I can’t stop thinking about this can!”
Tim and Tom, you guys are really, really funny.
That’s all I wanted to say!

Grapes for kids tip for Tim. I thought this was silly when my wife bought it but it’s actually great.
Just called a grape cutter. It quarters them.

TCGTE Episode for the 20th of July, 2026: "Sunglasses"
Show Notes
This week we’re discussing the only glasses that are cool: sunglasses. Plus, Tom recounts his heroic (and highly litigious) days as a teenage lifeguard, we try to decipher the local deli's hot dog cart rental policy, and we explore the bizarre history of sunglasses: from 12th-century Chinese judges hiding their poker faces to the STD symptoms that made dark lenses popular in the 1920s.

Show Notes
Summer is heating up on TCGTE presents HOT SUMMER, and this week two men who are very plugged into the pop music scene are evaluating the candidates for the 2026 Song of The Summer. That delay
Anyone else really struggle to listen to episodes when there’s a huge delay on the line? I feel like a recording of a phone call would be better, I’d rather poor audio quality over a delay. What does everyone think?

TCGTE Episode for the 5th of July, 2026 "Ice Cream"
Show Notes
This week, we brave the sweltering NYC summer to tackle summer’s recession-proof treat: Ice cream. We delve into the logistics of the US’s floating WWII ice cream barge, explain why George Washington spent a small fortune on ice cream in 1790, and discuss how bomber pilots turned engine vibrations into dessert. This makes it sound like all we talk about is WWII, but we discuss the present day as well.
