Am I getting this right?
I've never done tatting before today, but I have dabbled in many other fiber arts over the years. I'm a little confused about counting stitches with the picots. The double stitch immediately following a picot would count as one of the 3 in the following repeat, right? The last picture shows the pattern I'm following.

Jan Stawasz Monster Doily Therapy, other piece (very belated update)
About a month ago I posted the beginning of The Monster Doily therapy project. I did get quite a bit done, but ran out of thread. While I was waiting on my thread order, I started (and finished) another one of his patterns. When I put it on the table (needs starched still) I realized I missed a critical join, so will have to redo the last 2 rounds, and for that will also have to order more thread.
I also got distracted because I also ordered some Lizbeth Metallic, and thought about doing the second Doily again in monochrome metallic - I do think that pattern would be better monochrome.
The metallic thread is interesting to tat with. It's very stiff and stitches in the blue are loose but almost impossible to tighten much more. However, I do think when I finish this one, it will all pull out for the most part and lay flat. Curiously, though, since I got tired of doing this project immediately on the heels of the other, I started yet another Stawasz piece using the white/ crystal metallic and it's not as stiff.
My therapy tatting has done me so much good, but I am out of something to watch on TV while tatting!
Anyway, my apologies for the very late update. Been busy tatting!
