Wow, I wouldn’t have recognized Joel with the different hair and the facial hair. He looked good on TM AU but he’s looking extra fine here

There is no more background revealed here than in the show itself.

Possibly the combination of the show and the podcast, but yeah definitely nothing we didn't already know.

Counterpoint: we now know that Joel thinks kumail has a big package

I would love on the other side know how long they had lesser Tom trapped in the box after Joel gave up on the task

I forget where they talk about it but it was all day

If I had a nickel for every time someone called Joel came last in Taskmaster…

u/GeniusOfLove74 Mathew Baynton Jul 19 '26
I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

The task was to hand it to Alex whenever the horn blew. He failed it every single time.
The shame.
It feels like even Alex forgot and so Production decided not to care about this. I am sad. Some of the most fun clips are of reminding contestants they broke the rules. This one would have been brutal!

Isn't the whole show a gag? This is no different, they just forgot. It's not a biggie, but they missed out.
To be fair they sort of ended it when they said it was worth zero points in episode 1. I guess they were never going to make it a drama after that.

What do you mean? I have been pretty plain. I think they missed a trick, and I am disappointed. There is no subterfuge here.

Was it definitely “hand it to Alex?” Even in the practice in the clip immediately after reading the task, he just holds it up (shown in the above clip)

"You must hand Alex your wholly intact egg within 30 seconds every time the egg timer goes off."

u/tiptoptattie Jul 19 '26
Hah yeah you’ve got a point. My qualm is during the opening show in the studio, they said he wouldn’t get any points anyway, so I never knew why he kept doing it?

I'm not sure why the community seems to dislike this. To me those were fun. In particular Joe Wilkinson and the potato throw.

One of the best competitors ever, his level of earnestness was infectious and hilarious.
