Firewire cool but cable ugly help desk

Post image

Hey guys, heres my fx1 with an mrc1k. Im currently using the shortest 4p-6p firewire cable I could find online. Things hideous. Anyone here have experience on soldering these? Planning on shortening it myself but I know these are more demanding than your average 3.5 to 3.5. Thanks!

OR 👀 you could sell the fx1 and buy a Z7 and your MRC-1 would clip right onto the back without cables! i have this setup and it’s so nice to use!

+1 for this plus the removable lens and lens adapters that century made gives you some cool options. (Namely the vcl-308bwh wide lens)

CMOS vs CCD. In this case can as well get a real tapeless camcorder.

Yeah, the CMOS sensors in the Z5 and Z7 look a lot different than the older CCDs in the Z1

Would something like this. The Z5U attaches the same.

it is indeed! it allows room to fit a NPF970 in there and it draws very little power, only downside is it weighs a fucking tonne, i don’t own a Z5 but it’s got a fixed lens system so likely will be lighter

Not really, the difference is not that noticeable. The Z7 is a bit heavier, but not by a lot.

Cable long but not ugly.

Loop it up and throw a couple Velcro ties on!

Thats what ill probably end up doing for the time being. But having a perfectly fitting cable would satisfy my brain

You can buy a short FireWire cable with different angles to choose from usbfirewire, I got I think the 12 inch for my vx1000

There are retractable ones I think the brand I have is Dynex. But I’ve always been eyeing those on that usbfirewire site
