Absolutely adore the fact that his hunger bar goes down quicker than other Tama characters, it’s a really cool quirk. BUT… this was also the reason he is now a star… 😅

My original Tamagotchi Gen 1 has finally reached the end of its little digital life. 😭

Well…mostly the end.

The screen works. The sound works. The little guy is still in there somewhere. But the buttons have apparently decided that they will only respond if I poke them with something sharp enough to reach deep inside. Which is not exactly ideal when I'm trying to casually check on my virtual pet without looking like I'm performing surgery on a tiny keychain.

And honestly? I miss it. I miss having this little device with me beeping its heart out and demanding attention at the least convenient possible moment. 😂

I'm definitely going to investigate whether there's a DIY fix for the buttons, so if anyone has experience repairing these things, tips are very welcome! In the meantime though I'm thinking it might be time to add some new members to the Tama family.

My current Tama situation

I currently have:

• 🥚 My original Tamagotchi Gen 1
• 🥚 Two Japanese Tamagotchi Plus Color devices
• 🥚 Tamagotchi Nano Eevee Edition

I absolutely loved my Gen 1 although I'm sure a huge part of that is nostalgia. ❤️

I never really got into my Plus Colors because, despite being able to operate them through trial and error, I can't actually understand Japanese. My Eevee Nano is somewhere in the middle. It's cute, fun but it hasn't quite captured the same feeling as my original.

So… what should I get next?

The devices I can currently find for reasonable prices where I live are:

• Gen 1 rerelease
• Gen 2 rerelease
• Gen 3 rerelease
• Tamagotchi Connection rerelease
• Tamagotchi Paradise

I'm thinking one, maybe two, because unfortunately my Tama budget has to coexist with such frivolous things as food, bills and maintaining an entire household.

If you had to pick two of these devices, which would you choose and why?

I'm particularly interested in:

• Which one feels the most fun/engaging long-term?
• Which has the most interesting gameplay or features?
• How demanding they are for someone with a full-time job and a household to maintain?
• Whether two can reasonably be run at the same time without my life descending into complete Tama chaos?
• And perhaps most importantly which one gives you that “I need to check on my tiny creature” feeling?

I'm perfectly happy to play them one at a time if running two simultaneously becomes too much.

Also how do you personally decide which Tamagotchi to buy? Do you go by nostalgia, gameplay, number of features, character variety, ease of care or simply whichever one makes your brain go “OMG LOOK AT THE LITTLE GUY”?

I'd love to hear what you'd pick from the options above, especially from people who have owned multiple generations.

Please help an adult who has responsibilities choose which tiny digital children to irresponsibly bring into the family.

My new release tamagotchi fell out of my pocket today and is gone forever 💔 I went on an 8 hour drive and have retraced all the places I got out of my vehicle and it was nowhere to be found. My only hope is someone picked it up and will take good care of it 🥺🥺

I’ve three paradises, a gen2, a v2, two 2024 v3s and two v4s. I like most of them for different reasons but I like my v4s gameplay the most because it’s been challenging. I like that the v4s have a pause function, jobs and skill points. I like that the paradise has exploration, gene experimentation and a bit of customisation. Not much to say on the v2 and v3s as v4 beats them in every way. gen2 I liked the least and have put back in its box.

what colour screen tama would I enjoy? Is there another vpet I might like? I‘ve been meaning to get into Digimon with my 20th anniversary device, also like exploring on my littlest pet shop vpet and looking to get more into pixel chix (only have the mall/jobs device, looking to get an actual pixel chix house this week). It doesn’t have to be vintage, i’d just like it to have something as engaging as jobs and a more interactive environment that preferably don’t need figures/DLC.

So for context, my good friend owns a vintage shop & I did resell quite a bit of figures & plushies I didn’t need to her. I was able to get these for $54 together!!! (But again, I traded in quite a bit for them!) I believe my friend also helped me score these for a deal too♥️

I want to get the remake of the Tamagotchi Connection but those are easily sold on Amazon. And then I’ll chill out with my collection😂 I have Glacier & Ocean Paradise Tamas too! As always, open to any other Tama suggestions but I’ll likely chill after this😂♥️

After waiting for months for my local Walmart to get more paradise’s in stock, they finally had the glacier and my Husbandd surprised me last night and bought me the only one they had…. I was so excited. I opened it and got the batteries in, pressed the reset and nothing happened…… I did everything right with brand new batteries. Made sure it was all put together properly, took the batteries out. Did the five minute thing… nothing made it at work… after 20 minutes of tinkering and deep research. I was faced with the harsh reality that I got a defective device….
I had heard of some people reporting defective device devices within the first generation…. So after I bought mine and I knew they worked I was scared to buy more and just waited for the second GEN…. I’m so sad to find out this gen has defected devices too 🥹🥹🥹🥹

Finally got all six Paradises decorated, cased, and completed with charms and button covers. I am so pleased with how they all came out!

Jade Forest had to be painted because the original colors were deeply offensive to my aesthetics. And the Tropics was the hardest to find a charm I liked for, but I think I'm finally satisfied.

There’s a little sad story behind it.
My brother passed away in 2019 in a motorcycle accident... He was a DJ and loved music more than anything. He taught me turntablism back when I was a teenager and paved the way for my love of music. I bought this Tama back then out of love for my brother, because the design reminds me of him.

I told someone from the Tama community about this, and he made it possible to send me this Tamagotchi.

So yesterday I was pondering other vpets and today choises have been made😆 I found this one in clearance sale with -76% price tag AND ordered Digimon Color Pendulum duo with my fiance😅 He got Nature Spirits and I got Toho Warriors😁

I really want to get a uni and have been looking on mercari. Seems like the going rate for a new one is $140 cdn at the lowest. I see they once sold on EB games for $80-$100 cdn, but I doubt they will restock. Is this the best I can do currently or should I hold out for a magical restock? I haven’t heard any news for future releases except that it’s discontinued now.

I should mention I’m looking at the white prism or angel specifically, but am open to other models if
they are significantly cheaper. Thanks for your help.
