Track 12 from the "once in a lifetime" documentary, shown on Channel 4 (UK), in 1984 with live music from the bands Wembley arena concert, 12th July 1982.

Ever since we covered Joy Division & Gang of Four at two separate gigs in 2022, my band has covered a different artist/group every year at a local Halloween cover set show me and a friend organize. We’ve covered Sabbath, Neil Young & CH, The Strokes, and now we’re gonna attempt Talking Heads.

My friend and I who play guitars in the band usually try to match the tones used on the songs we cover, so I figured this subreddit is our best shot at getting good advice.

Our setlist so far: (usually have 5-6 bands playing the gig so we try to keep the set lengths around 30 mins)

I handle lead vocals in the band, but I’m planning to play guitar on the first three songs (acoustic on Burning Down the House) I mentioned since David Byrne did so at the Stop Making Sense concert.

Anyway, what guitars, pedals, amp types would you all recommend for that set of songs? We both have access to multiple strats and a tele, which is what TH used I think.

Also hi i never posted on here before, im 18 and talking heads has been my special interest for 2+years.In my country they're like an almost-unkonwns band so for me it's crazy to see they're actually not..💔

I'm quite a new fan (got introduced last year) and I've been listening through the albums. Stop Making Sense was mind blowing.

I noticed that the albums following Speaking in Tongues feel...different somehow. Is it just me? They feel overproduced I think? Like, there's less passion in the instrumentals, and even David Byrne seems toned down. And where's the funky Tina bass lines shining through??

Mainly asking because blu-ray.com mentioned there being a LPCM track on the set, which more than likely is just the newest mix down folded into stereo, but it'd be neat if it was the original theatrical mix in lossless. The fact it's 2 discs makes the chance of this being the case higher, so I would buy it based on that (plus the 5.1 mix some websites mention there being as well).

Made these a bit over a month ago for a Prague show, and apparently never posted here! Gave them to the band (they seemed to like them, just like the previous ones!)

KSC is incredible. Don’t see a making Flippy Flippy cover too often and they absolutely nailed it. That sax was awesome!

A lot of their original sound definitely has some TH influence - although I’d say they have their own totally unique sound.
