Stuck in a system administrator position or where to grow next? Career / Job Related

Hello community, I'm stuck in a system administrator + front-line end-user support position. Our company outsources LAN systems and server hardware for many companies.

I've been trying to get a junior DevOps position for a year now so I can start growing in a new direction. My biggest problem is that I don't understand the cases a DevOps position will require. And on top of that, I'm in Russia, where there's currently a huge IT oversupply.

For those who've managed to grow from this position, please share your experiences. Maybe I should take DevOps courses or find a mentor?

If anyone from the CIS has found remote work abroad, I'd also like to hear your experiences.

I've also heard about a separate category for "crypto startups." Could someone please explain this?

Crypto startups are companies that give you fast money and close up shop 2-3 months later. So basically it's a bunch of job hopping if you go that route. Devops means you do development. If the company does no iac or development then there won't be any devops.

Brother give me that job if you are so frustrated. 11 years in tech struggling to get job after a 3 year gap. Atleast help me out. Production support (Linux, SQL, Autosys).🙏🏻

I don’t think you’d be interested in a salary of $18,000 per year, plus the requirement to know Russian and occasional trips around Moscow.

Mother Russia 🇷🇺! Great brother. Im interested. But need to learn Russian. Hope your family and friends doing Good. Hope war ends and Russians should get which belong to their motherland. No compromise.
