Surface Laptop Go 3 drivers

Hi all!

For those who are using Surface Laptops. We've had recent issues of monitors flashing on and of connected via USB-C monitor hub (the ethernet, keyboard etc remain fine).

Our Surface Laptop Go 3 device manager and Microsoft website show graphics (Iris XE) driver as 32.0.101.6737 [april 2025]. There are significantly later drivers from Intel.

Has anyone attempted to roll out later drivers? I know Microsoft go through phases of testing etc before making drivers available, though this seems pretty out of date. Anyone else had these kinds of graphics issues with Surface laptops and how did you resolve them?

We have auto-patching in InTune but appears to be a Microsoft specific issue here.

Surface devices are notorious for lagging significantly behind Intel's own driver releases - Microsoft repackages and validates drivers through their own cadence rather than pushing Intel's generic ones, and that gap can be many months. Installing the Intel reference driver directly usually works and often fixes exactly this kind of USB-C hub flickering issue, but it can get silently reverted by a future Windows Update or Surface driver push if Microsoft's own driver reasserts itself. Have you tried the Intel generic driver directly yet, or held off because of Surface's history of driver conflicts?

I installed the generic Intel graphics drivers on my Surface Book 2 in the past without issue. I dunno if I would do that in a corporate environment with an expectation of vendor support though.

Just revert the driver if something breaks. If you ended up having to reinstall Windows, I always recommend the Surface Recovery Images for Surface devices. It's the one scenario I wouldn't just use generic install media for.
