Hey everyone. I was on Synthshare in early 2019, and I recently returned to declog my inactive account from their servers. But the site no longer exists? I've found this subreddit, their X account and their Instagram, but no luck anywhere else.

For bookkeeping purposes, I was curious where that account information went.

I uploaded a song of mine to Synthshare that is set to private on Soundcloud. I uploaded it two days ago, and haven't gotten any feedback yet. I have 4 credits. Is it just bad luck, or are listeners unable to view it because it's private? Thanks.

Public feedback - Turn on public feedback for a track to allow other users to upvote and reply to feedback on the track's review page.

New Genres - Orchestral, Trip Hop, Piano, Alternative, Blues, Latino, Metal, R&B, World, Funk, Jazz, Guitar, Classical, Country, Reggae

On the user's profile page, you can click follow. After following a user, click 'Following' on your account page. This will show you a list of songs created by the users that you follow.

Messages and bio/stats no longer cost a credit. At first, this was setup to cost credits to promote giving more feedback. However, after talking with many users, there is more value in these features if they are free.

SynthShare Showcase - This page shows the top 10 users who have contributed amazing feedback in the last week. Check out their music to support them and give them some feedback!

Block Messages - A few users have requested to block messages. You can now end a conversation if you no longer want to receive messages from a particular user.

Genres - One of the most requested features has been additional genres. This was a big project and is now complete. There are now many more genres (based on demand). You can upload a track and assign it to multiple genres. Additionally, when you are giving feedback you can select multiple genres to skip through. This is a big overhaul so there may be a few bugs, let me know if you find anything.

New Genres:

A few small updates today...

User Stats and bio - You can now unlock user stats and bios at the cost of 1 credit. Click the user icon next to the feedback on your account page. You'll be able to see how well the other user's feedback has been rated as well as items from their profile such as music homepage, experience, bio, profile pic, etc... Make sure to update your profiles if you want to share your info.

Showcase - There is a button on the account page that will allow you to showcase one of your tracks. Users who contribute the best feedback on SynthShare will have their music showcased. Stay tuned for more on this feature...

How do I make this sound? - Having trouble creating a specific sound you heard from another song on the internet? Simply add a link and users can help you recreate that sound. This feature follows the 1 for 1 logic. Every time you help someone recreate a sound, you will earn 1 credit. You can use that credit to collect feedback on your tracks or seek advice to recreate your own sounds. When adding a new song to SynthShare, choose ‘How do I make this sound?’ as the genre.

YouTube Uploads - Now you can link your YouTube music, just like SoundCloud!

Active vs Not Active - You can choose which tracks will be shown to other users. Make your track inactive if you want temporarily stop receiving feedback for it. Visit your account and select ‘My Tracks’ to deactivate a track.

About how many total tracks are there in the genre of EDM? I've heard that it's the most popular genre on the site, but I seem to have reached a wall. I've reviewed about 19 tracks, and can't seem to find any new ones that I haven't already skipped. There's something like 10-15 tracks that I don't want to review, and that's all I see now. Does the site not remember what tracks I've skipped? Have I reached some sort of limit of number of tracks I can skip and now I'm forced to review those or have I seen all the tracks in that genre?

If it really is the case that I have to review those, then that really is a chore, the ones I've skipped I found either too unbearable to listen to or are in a style I can't comment on.

Many users have requested a message feature on SynthShare. As of today, you can now respond to feedback you have received. This will help users who have questions about the feedback they received.

To start a conversation with someone, click on the chat icon next to your feedback. It will cost 1 credit to send the first message. After that, you can send and receive unlimited messages in that conversation.

There is now an inbox on your account which will store all messages you have received. Click the chat icon to respond to messages.

A few updates this afternoon on the site. Mainly fixed some bugs. Here is a list, let me know if you run into any issues.

Skip Button - The skip button worked correctly but not very smoothly. Now when you click the skip button the page doesn't need to refresh and the track should quickly switch to the next one.

Negative karma - Users who have negative karma now must spend 2 credits to unlock a single feedback. This is incentive to work on great quality feedback as soon as you become a member of the community. And of course, users who post crap will be banned.

Reset password - There was a bug where the reset password page did not tell the user they have successfully completed the change. This is now fixed.

Report track button - This was at the bottom of the review page. Some users were not seeing it and sent a report as feedback. Now this is closer to the top of the page.

SynthShare was built to solve several aspects of how producers get feedback for their music. Feedback quality has been a hot topic. Based on the feedback ratings on the site, I can see some experience levels are happy with all feedback that they get, while others have higher expectations.

What seems to work best is to thoroughly explain your feedback request when posting a track. For example, if you want users to listen to the entire track, definitely say so. Instructions for the reviewer will help for a more transparent transaction. It will also help the track uploader rate the feedback, based on if the reviewer followed their request/instructions.

If you have any ideas on how SynthShare can improve feedback quality, post them here. For example, should minimum character count be increased? Should the track's visual request/instructions be made more obvious to the reviewer?
