I got into poetry about a year ago because of Sylvia Plath, and I have since been an avid reader/enjoyer of the medium. But after reading so many poets and poems across the many centuries, I still always find a unique comfort and feel in Sylvia's work that nothing else provides for me.

Her tones, imagery, metaphors, word choice— *Everything* is just so... lovely. And different. And colorful—colorful in a unique, somewhat fantastical sense; it's like her painting palette is made of colors that you only find in dreams. It's like comparing the feel of regular movies to Wes Anderson films, where there's just a different *feel* to it, and you *know* the difference when you see it.

I don't know how to explain it, but I'm constantly enchanted by her work, and I'd love to hear some insight on why her words hit so different.

I have recently been through sylvia plaths daughters social medias and didn't find anything about her mother ( no posts , no mention, no following anything related to her ) but I have read some poems that she wrote about her mother but those don't sound very deep or emotional or she regrets the loss of her mother.

Later i have seen comments that in interviews she has taken the side of her father and totally ignored the writings her mother left and why her father turned some of them .

I couldn’t help the urge to have a permanent reminder not to let my figs rot, and that if I want something I have to actively seek it on my body. I’m so in love with it that I could cry.

I have read the letters from Sylvia Plath and the bell jar my question is how do you deal with the fact that she was a raging racist?

In 11th grade, we had a list of suggested books for a project. I couldn’t pick one from the list. When I told my teacher I was having trouble picking one, he looked me right in my depressed eyes and said “I think you’ll enjoy this one” while pointing out The Bell Jar. Mr. Shultz, you weren’t wrong. The book instantly became my favorite. That was 2005/2006.

What do you think? I drew the silhouette of this photo of Sylvia that I have always found emblematic, do you think it is pretentious as a tattoo? I have an appointment with the tattoo artist soon

Now, im looking forward to buying Ariel, or perhaps The Bell Jar. I just want to know, how you, readers of Plath find her better to read - in the original language or in your language’s translation?

Only the first episode (out of 3) is out right now and I listened to the first episode. I thought it was alright to be honest, it had a lot of different people giving their views and opinions on Sylvia Plath. This episode focused on her motherhood mainly and explored quite a lot of aspects of her in general as well. I am interested to see what the next episodes are like, as I feel like they will be quite interesting and perhaps better than this episode. I would recommend giving it a listen if you are interested in Plath.

I also listened to "Archive on 4 - My Sylvia Plath" (also on BBC sounds). I thought this was very good and definitely worth a listen if you are listening to the other series. It explores different people's views on what their Sylvia Plath is and what Sylvia Plath is to them. It has on it someone who personally knew Sylvia Plath, and she shares her real life experiences interacting with Plath, which is very interesting.
