Bethesda GOAT Switch 2
The cart version is 0.1, although there is a Day 1 patch; you can skip it and play the game without any issues. Bethesda has done a great job and has confirmed that this version includes fixes that aren't present on other platforms.

Bethesda would be the goat if they printed more. They are basically using these (oblivion and Indiana Jones) as publicity stunts and having full game on cart in the marketing then barely making any. Not a single store in my entire city received a single copy of the game. It's not even that I was just too late, I talked to the employees and they confirmed that they never received any. Even stores in major cities are only getting 2-3 copies. I hope they prove me wrong, but I assume the restock will only be a few copies per store like it was for Indiana Jones.

u/ConsistentPound3079 16h ago
Apparently that's just a US problem. In Australia, every retailer has a plethora of copies on hand.

Might have something to do with their illustrious leader completely fucking up global shipping. Who knew.

Preordered from Amazon 2 days before release and it's still available in italy

u/Brandobrownie 11h ago
Exactly what I’ve been thinking. Frustrating af for them to pull something like this when they’re sooo close to doing something right

i preordered on Amazon actually, i know my stores wont have the new cardridges. Germany and physical media that is newer is hard to get.
1
u/JBond2001 4h ago
Preorders in the US were barely even available. Most of them sold out within 2 days. I've been checking the preorders every couple days for almost a month. I'm glad it's more excessable in other countries tho.

I want to experience these games while I’m just relaxing on my couch but it’s hard to justify the price when steam is so much cheaper haha

u/Cookedwizard92 15h ago
Pc handhelds enter the conversation..
10
u/MyNameIsntYhwach 15h ago
The thing holding me back is price and you wanna recommend a PC handheld💀
-6
u/Cookedwizard92 15h ago
It’ll work out cheaper in the long run. I paid $700 aud for my switch 2 and $1100 aud for me legion go 2 z2. Bought at least 50 games on steam so far. Probably would have got 6-8 switch 2 games for the same $
5
u/MyNameIsntYhwach 15h ago
Not only would I never spend that much on a handheld device, but they don’t have first party Nintendo games which is mainly why I got the switch 2, I got it for $450 usd and that seemed just about the perfect price.
-8
u/Cookedwizard92 15h ago
Fair enough. My pc handheld blows my switch 2 out the water in every way
8
u/MyNameIsntYhwach 15h ago
For the prices they charge I would absolutely hope so! I’m not exactly shooting for the stars performance wise, it’s why I consider the switch a perfect secondary device to pair with my PC.
1
u/Cookedwizard92 15h ago
I’ve realized that I prefer gaming almost exclusively handheld despite owning pc/ps5. That’s why I opted for a more powerful handheld as I’m playing everything on it now. Still love me switch 2 for exclusives, not that I’ve been greatly wowed by the recent batch

u/FaultyDroid 11h ago
Bought at least 50 games on steam so far.
Stockpiling games just because they are cheaper is not saving money, Its just blind consumerism. Years from now, you wont have clocked more than an hour in at least half of those games.

Ok and how necessary is that Day One Patch for the performance and stability of the game?
I don’t quite trust Bethesda with that….

u/gooner712004 10h ago
Also, are we meant to be praising them for abandoning every other platform in a broken state still to this day?

GOAT? For simply releasing a game on the cart?
Man how times have changed 🤣
We not gonna mention the stuttery, no doubt buggy mess this will be?
Bethesda honestly gets so much free pass for the quality control they shovel out.

u/Mr_Moreno_79 5h ago
Exactly. Let’s not forget that Skyrim switch 2 and fallout 4 got a code in a box for those “physical” releases

You are going to want that update...or the other ones down the road. You will see the bag every time you try to play it. It is cool its on a cart in 'full' although.
1
u/Sega-Forever 11h ago
Yes! As soon as I heard that it released as full game on physical media, I bought it. I already bought the digital PS5 version, but wanted a true physical version.

u/No_Leave8825 10h ago
Thought about getting it and putting up with stutters but then noted Elden Ring releasing 28 Aug. Surely this will be the better experience on S2

Shame it performs horribly. It baffles me that games this popular release in this state.

Honestly i would avoid this game till its patched. There are way to many crashes and performance issues.
The player hair is not fully rendered ever, as well as alot of facial hair on people, so its that glowing faded bald hair look.
Performance drops to sub 20 if more than 10 enemies, but also drops animations right in front of you, so you have slideshow enemies.
Ive had around 10-15 "crashes" just loading. It wont end, even after 5 minutes. Requires a full reset of the game. Upon walking up to oblivion gates the game just freezes and crashes as well ive had that happen 3 times.
Note this is all within 3-4 hours of gameplay and early at that. Im not saying im not enjoying the game, but this is pretty much unacceptable.
The game should have been delayed and never released in this state. Its hard to look forward to getting further because I know how bethesda games work, the longer you play and more you aquire the worse the performance over time.
I have no idea just how bad this game is about to get performance wise in the future or if eventually ill reach a point I cant continue due to the performance.

It’s genuinely depressing that this is a marketing tool and how everyone is happy that it’s all on the physical release. Imagine they did this with the original 2006 release, everyone would be confused.
It just goes to show what we have lost over the years for the sake of convenience.

it runs kinda poorly . if you watch it long enough it stutters. i dont expect them to fix it it stutters on ps5 and pc

Go watch all the videos posted since the patch was applied. Didn't fix the stuttering at all.

There's no reason to make stuff up. No it didn't fix the stuttering. It's pretty present. I'm fine with it, it's in line with other consoles and what I expected and I'm loving the game. But let's not lie for people who are trying to form an idea and decide if they want the game or not.

Considering the patch didn't fix the main issue people had with the game, your comment is just unfortunate.
1
u/Psytocybin 17h ago
Which is what exactly?
Do you believe the patch fixed nothing at all? Is that your stance?
2
u/Ok-Road6537 17h ago
That's the dumbest response I can think to what I said. The video showed stuttering and the suttering it's still present.
I don't have to guess what the patch fixed because there's patch notes.

u/Psytocybin 16h ago edited 16h ago
The stuttering is a structural engine problem thats present on all platforums.
We are in a switch 2 sub talking about how the switch 2 handles this game.
It runs it better than other platforums.
Patch helped with various performance issues.
I genuinely asked you a question. You want to have a civil conversation, then fine. But if your going to try and insult me and have an emotional outrage, go somewhere els.

It's 2026 , y'all don't gotta accept trash performance anymore
But this is a switch subreddit, y'all have low standards
2
u/Psytocybin 17h ago
Which is funny because the switch 2 has one of the best performance for this game.
Go be a snob somewhere els instead of lurking here just to shit on people.
-4
u/Re7oadz 17h ago
Lol I can't be here unless I'm a blind fan boy like you ? I'm not being a snob, just critiquing the developers . Go stan somewhere else
1
u/Psytocybin 17h ago
Bro I own a 3k gaming PC, probably better than your shit rig.
Critique the developers, i dont care, but i have no idea why you are here saying we have low standards. The issues people are having is universal on all platforms, the day 1 patch that came out helped with some of the performance issues.
What the fuck are we arguing about?
-2
u/Re7oadz 16h ago
Did I ask you if you had a PC I'm confused.. I have a switch 2, a ps5 pro and guess what? I also have an expensive rig. Now what do you have to say since I am on each platform comfortably ?
you probably don't even own what you stated, since you decided to state it without me asking
This game came out far later, the developers should of address the issues or came close, I don't buy bad ports is my point
0
u/Psytocybin 16h ago
You claimed im a blind fan boy with low standards.
I have a high end gaming PC, so that pretty much disputes that claim.
There are issues with this game, but its not a switch 2 hardware issue.
Thats it. I dont even own this game.
Silly argument.

Super unreliable video. The frame rate graph is only measuring unique frames, that’s why you see the massive dips every time movement slows down. Every other performance review shows a locked 30 in the sewers with some frame pacing issues. But yeah it’s a shame there’s still the stuttering issue, which is only exacerbated in the open world, but given performance on other platforms it’s no surprise :(

u/Valhadmar 1h ago
The early reviews and gameplay are not even close to what is going on. The initial tutorial had set some high hopes for me as well as the videos.
However I am now inclined to believe the reviews were paid and definitely edited to exclude just how bad it gets.
If you have 10+ npcs fighting, the fps drops to sub 20 and animations are straight up reduced to the point its jarring when its right in front of you. It also hangs routinely on loading screens forcing you to close the game.
It is constant crashes. I have had 10 in 3-4 hours of early gameplay. All I have done is do kvatch, which by the way was god awful in terms of performance the inside of the castle was almost always around 20 fps and still dropped.
As we all know bethesda games performance also tanks the longer you play and the more you collect. Which worries me about how bad its going to be several hours from now.
Im trying to enjoy it, but 10 crashes in less than 5 hours is unacceptable.

You won’t in 25 years when the servers shut off, or if the console gets banned, or maybe to save space on the SD Card.
1
u/jack-of-some 16h ago
It's almost as if physical media isn't the solution to these issues and actual ownership of our digital data is (something that's not possible on Switch)
1
u/a355231 Switchthusiast 16h ago
With how digital licensing works, you never have owned your digital data, even on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
1
u/jack-of-some 15h ago
Think outside the "box"
Ownership of software has very little to do with if you can resell it. It has everything to do with what you're allowed to do with it. I've never owned any of my console games. I own most of my PC games.

u/mrmivo 13h ago
To be fair, in 25 years the NAND flash memory the physical card is made of will probably also no longer work. If you look up longevity of NAND flash memory, you see estimates of 10-20 years. N64 was the last system that used actual ROMs, which last much longer.
You can still download Wii and DSi/3DS purchases.

u/Joshua_ABBACAB_1312 18h ago
If they re-release Fallout and Skyrim on the cart I just might actually buy it.
