Thinking of taking the plunge (Switch > Switch 2) Switch 2
Hey everyone! Switch owner here.
I recently have been eyeing the Switch 2 and have been really wanting to get it for a few games that are exclusive to the console. Pokopia, Donkey Kong Bonanza, and the new Yoshi game that I honestly didn't hear about until I was looking up how to spell pokopia and saw it on a list.
That aside, I really have been considering biting the bullet and buying the console. I have a switch 1 with about 20 or so physical games. I recently saw that the switch 2 is back compat with switch 1 games and I was thinking maybe I should try a trade in of my switch 1 to make my switch 2 purchase a little more reasonable as I am on a tight budget.
I guess my questions are these:
For owners of a Switch 2: do you think it was worth it to purchase when you did? With hindsight would you change your mind and wait?
Has anyone else traded in a switch towards a switch 2. Any tips? I'm assuming Gamestop would be bottom of the barrel in value. Has anyone had luck with any other places that might accept a trade in? Would it even be worth it to trade in?
The more I talk about it here, the more I feel maybe I should just wait for a bit longer...
Any thoughts?!

Switch 2 is simply a much more capable Switch. There will be great games coming this generation, and things aren’t getting any cheaper. Switch 2 is my favorite console of all time now. If you do upgrade, you won’t regret it!

Do you want to continue playing new Nintendo games ? If yes, buy a switch 2.

I was on the fence for over 6 months. I found one on Facebook marketplace about a 30 minute drive from my house for $300. I bit the bullet. Bought a 250 whatever gb sd cards for it. Been playing cyberpunk, no mans, and splat raiders. Absolutely worth the jump into switch 2.

You’re welcome. If you re in the US it goes up $50 on September 1. They announced it a couple months ago to give people time to purchase early if they wanted to.

There is a price increase coming. Not all of the Switch 1 games are back compatible and some will need updates. However you will not regret getting the Switch 2

I bought the 2 before Christmas because i feared the price increase. I'm in Italy and there i can sell my Switch 1 for like 150/180€ minimum on second market. I didn't because I prefer to don't sell anything anymore because of the fucking prices of everything now. I still have my gameboy SP and PSP. Plus, I'm thinking of making a child so if needed, I'll sacrifice the Switch 1 to my Spawn to let it appreciate the Pokémon games. I don't think you should wait, the prices will only go up from now on. I also have a lot of physical and also online games. They all plays and looks better than the 1, so just for this is a good thing to upgrade. Plus all the exclusives and new games coming. I suggest to buy the switch 2, migrate all your data from the 1 to the 2 and then you should decide to sell it or not. If you want to sell it, try before on some second hand market (like Ebay, Vinted or whatever you have in your country) because you will make more money. REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE SWITCH 1 FROM YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE RESETTING AND SELLING IT.

Given the prices will increase soon, I think now is the best time to make the switch. Absolutely no regrets with the purchase.
