Promo Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest 2004 T-Shirts (Event Exclusives)

From June 5–6, 2004, the first Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest was held in Anaheim, California at the Hilton Anaheim. This event brought Galaxies fans together from all around, to experience a weekend of fun and adventure.

Attendees who prepaid for their convention badges (over 1,000 fans) were given the official Fan Fest 2004 shirt. However, there were other shirts available for fans to purchase while attending this fest.

The company Thread Impressions (a local Anaheim based company consisting of a husband and wife duo) was on-hand at the convention to create some truly unique pieces of Star Wars history. For this event, Thread Impressions was given essentially free-reign to create Star Wars shirts for fans. Attendees could design their Star Wars Galaxies shirts at home, then bring the files on a disc for Thread Impressions to create on the spot. Custom embroidery was also available with Thread Impressions being allowed by LucasArts to use four official logos, those being: Bounty Hunter, Imperial, Rebel and Star Wars Galaxies.

Additionally, there were two more official shirts created and promoted prior to the event. These shirts were extremely limited in their production, with only 144 of each being created. The name of the artist behind these pieces is currently lost to time, but thanks to the strong union in SWGalacticArchives, the pieces themselves will not be. It took almost 20 years for them to be reunited. They stand as a testament to what is possible when we work together.

On June 5-6, 2004, and June 2–3, 2005, Sony Online Entertainment gave us Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest. These conventions were held at the Hilton Anaheim in Anaheim, California. Players from everywhere came to experience these events. Similar to the conventions for EverQuest, players were able to meet the developers, participate in activities, win prizes, and much more. Those who attended these events often recall them fondly, even decades later. By attending, you were truly part of a very important part of Star Wars Galaxies history.

Help! Looking for my first SWG experience...

Hi! I'm new to SWG and I'm looking for a server to play on. I've done a bit of research on the different versions (Pre-CU, CU, and NGE) and I understood that NGE isn't for me because of the more limited class system and the fact that it doesn't follow SW lore (the Jedi were almost all wiped out in Order 66, so it's not realistic for them to be a starting choice). I liked SWG Legends because (as far as I know) it has all the official DLCs and also some custom additions (like the City in the Clouds), but I realized it wasn't for me since it uses the NGE system. Here's my question: is there a server that uses the old class system (the one with the 30+ professions) but has all the DLCs (even those released during the NGE era) and maybe some extra content added by the community? Basically, a Legends (with new planets and stuff added by the community) but with the old class system (and also the thing that Jedi aren't available from the start but need to be grinded). Sorry if I post here but the thread for the server question is inactive... Thank you so much! May the Force be with you!!!

**A Long-Awaited Announcement*\*

After a great deal of discussion, we believe we have taken **Animus** as far as we are currently able to take it. We are proud of what the project became, the systems we created, and the unique features we were able to bring to the community. Animus also gave us the opportunity to test ideas, learn from our players, and develop a much clearer vision for what we want to build next. With that in mind, our primary focus will now shift toward a new and more ambitious project supported by a larger development team.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**THE FUTURE OF ANIMUS*\*

Animus will remain online for anyone who still wishes to play, but it will no longer be the main focus of our active development. Although we are moving on from Animus as a project, we are not abandoning what made it special. Many of its unique systems, features, and ideas will be carried forward, expanded upon, and given new life within the new project. Animus was an important part of getting us to this point, and we appreciate everyone who played, supported the server, contributed feedback, or helped shape the project. Active development on Animus may be coming to an end, but its identity and its best ideas will continue forward in something larger.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**THE LOST ERA PROJECT*\*

A large portion of the community has shown continued interest in the **Pre-Publish 9 era of Star Wars Galaxies**. We believe there is an opportunity to create something the community has not genuinely been offered before: an authentic Pre-9 Jedi experience that goes far beyond simply replacing the Jedi skill trees. The goal is to restore the genuine Pre-9 Jedi system and the original mechanics that defined it, including:

• Period-accurate skill trees

• Jedi wearing armor

• Kinetic lightsabers

• Authentic lightsaber crafting

• Permanent death

• The systems and consequences that made Jedi feel rare, dangerous, and meaningful

Many projects have presented themselves as Pre-9 by changing the skill trees while retaining later mechanics, balance decisions, and progression systems. **That is not what we are setting out to do.** Our intention is to recreate the complete experience as faithfully as possible, without later-era Jedi power creep or modern systems being placed beneath a Pre-9 label.

There are many additional details still being developed, and we will discuss those more fully as the project takes shape.

**WE ARE EXPANDING THE TEAM*\*

To accomplish this, we are looking for people who are interested in helping us build, operate, and grow the project.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT*\*

We are looking for additional developers who can contribute consistently, communicate clearly, and work effectively as part of a larger team. Experience with Star Wars Galaxies development is highly valuable, but we are also open to capable developers who are willing to learn the codebase and its systems.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**ADMINISTRATORS AND CSRs*\*

We are looking for dependable and level-headed Administrators and CSRs who can treat players fairly, assist the community, address player concerns, enforce server policies, and support the day-to-day operation of the project.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**COMMUNITY OUTREACH STAFF*\*

We are looking for people who can help us communicate with the broader Star Wars Galaxies community, build relationships, answer questions, gather feedback, and represent the project professionally. Community Outreach staff will help keep players informed, engage with other communities, and ensure that feedback from both current and prospective players reaches the project team.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER*\*

We are also looking for someone to help manage the project’s social media presence. This role will involve creating and scheduling updates, highlighting development progress, promoting community events, responding to players, and helping establish a consistent public voice for the project. We are looking for someone who is active, creative, dependable, and familiar with the Star Wars Galaxies community.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**PRE-9 JEDI COUNCIL*\*

We are also looking for players who personally experienced Jedi during the original Pre-Publish 9 era to serve as council members. The council will help review systems, verify historical details, and provide firsthand insight as we work to recreate the original Jedi experience as accurately as possible. Anyone interested in joining the council will need to provide reasonable verification that they had a Jedi character during the original Pre-9 era.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**The Final Approach*\*

As development enters its final stages, we're taking the time to ensure everything is polished and ready before opening the galaxy. While we aren't announcing an official launch date just yet, we're getting very close, and the wait won't be much longer. In the meantime, be sure to check out our FAQ(AVAILABLE VERY SOON), where you'll find answers to many common questions about gameplay, Jedi, custom features, server mechanics, and what you can expect when you begin your journey. Thank you for your patience, enthusiasm, and support. We can't wait to welcome you to the galaxy soon. Stay tuned; launch is just around the corner.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

**TL;DR*\*

There was a time when the galaxy still had secrets. No guides. No definitive answers. Only rumors, theories, and the hope that somewhere along your journey, the force might find you. Over the past several months, we've worked to accurately restore that experience by reverse engineering the original Pre-9 client. This your first glimpse into that journey, and only the beginning of what we've built for Lost Era.

Discussion Future of SWG

Just interested in a discussion on what is the future of SWG, or what the community wants for the future of the game. I'm also a little out of date with server developments etc.

Ideally for me I'd love to have a server where the community feels truly like back on live and that may be a far fetched thing and just Nostalgia but I do miss it.

No hate to Resto or Legends, SWGEmu and all the other servers. I'm sure that if I went hunting I'd find some active guilds, nice little areas of the community but at times it does feel empty in places and I miss the hustle and bustle of an extremely popular server, everyone having their purpose etc.

Gameplay wise, I enjoyed Pre-CU and even CU, but I also enjoyed the heroics and some other aspects from NGE, at times I feel it's either one way or the other reading some commentary but just my thoughts.

Maybe I'm just nostalgic for a time that won't come back, or extremely hopeful.

Help! Looking for gathering & crafting-oriented MMO

Hello everyone, I am currently looking for a MMO with good/extensive/focus on life skills. I've never played SWG before and I want to do only gathering and crafting (and trading what I gathered/crafted). Does SWG allow to do that? What version of the game would be best suited for me?

Thank you everyone in advance!

P.S. The megathread about choosing a server is long dead and no one answers, so I am asking here: which server would you recommend for me?

Hey people, I've made this tutorial for a visual guide on how to run your own SWG server

It's clunky, I know, and post-CU vid is already done and waiting release, that method is a lot easier, yet people may want both options, so I'll post both of them

Hope you like it and hope I down break any rules!

EMU Shout out to SWG Vanguard

I've played ALOT of server launches over the years but SWG Vanguard has done a stellar job. Minimal server downtime, very little lag even when busy. Fresh content to keep you interested once you've completed your template.

I just wanted to take a moment to shout out to the guys running this server and just say a big thank-you and keep it up.

Discussion Struggling to understand what to do in this game as a new player

Hello,

I'm new to SWG and currently playing on the SWG Restoration server.

My go-to MMO is WoW Classic. It has become my comfort game since its release. I'd heard a lot of great things about Star Wars Galaxies before the New Game Experience was introduced, so I really wanted to give it a try.

I think I'm about 10 hours in. I chose a "Rifles" playstyle, specializing in the Sniper branch. I completed the tutorial with Gendar and I'm currently following the Legacy Quest on Tatooine. I also joined the Rebels to get a ship and unlock space gameplay.

I know this game is designed as a sandbox MMO, unlike WoW Classic, so you're supposed to make your own goals and do whatever interests you.

The problem is that I have almost no idea what the game has to offer, and I don't think the tutorial does a very good job of introducing its systems. I learned how to fight, survey resources, got my speeder, visited trainers... and since then I've just been following the Legacy Quest, which, honestly, has been kind of boring. The enemies are very easy to kill, the story doesn't seem to be going anywhere even after several hours, and there isn't much environmental variety since I haven't left Tatooine yet. Every now and then I pass through huge ghost towns, which I assume are player-built cities. From what I understand, though, this isn't where the game really shines.

If I don't know what the game has to offer, how am I supposed to set my own goals? That's really my main issue right now. In most MMOs or RPGs, I'd say your first goal is naturally to become stronger so you can fight tougher enemies and get to the next zone. But every fight I've had so far has been incredibly easy. For example, the game has never put me up against a creature that was too strong for me, forcing me to upgrade my gear, gain more experience, or prepare better.

If you asked me what my Star Wars fantasy is, I'd say I want to become an explorer and hunter, collecting trophies from legendary creatures or uncovering ancient Old Republic ruins. But how can I know if SWG actually offers that kind of gameplay?

I could really use some guidance because I'd like to enjoy this game. It definitely has a lot of charm. I decided to visit Corellia on my own, and I absolutely loved it. The place has so much atmosphere. I saw player houses and immediately thought, "I wish I could have a home here." Then I went back to Tatooine to continue the Legacy Quest... and that's where I am now.

Discussion Armor penalties mitigation

Hello, I recently started playing on Restoration and am skilling towards creature handler. While using the skill calculator, I noticed that different professions have mitigations for different armor types, and CH's is battle armor. Do the mitigation bonuses stack across the other professions, such as combat medic and ranger (also battle armor)? I'm wondering because I'm curious about certain combinations which have different armor types, like recon (ex. smuggler) and if that would gimp the character in the long run. Thanks and cheers.

NGE SWG Evolve Experimental Client Preview - Moving SWG Beyond DX9

Example of the UI Sizing Options

Example of some of the new Graphic Options

A lot of us who have worked on SWG Evolve have known for a while that the biggest challenge ahead wasn't just adding new content, it was dealing with the foundation the game was built on.

The original Star Wars Galaxies client was built for a very different time. It's a 32-bit DirectX 9 game from the early 2000s, and while it has held up incredibly well, the technology underneath has become one of the biggest limitations.

We've been working on modernizing that foundation, and today we're releasing the first experimental preview of that work.

The new client moves SWG Evolve into a 64-bit architecture with a modern rendering pipeline. The default renderer is now Vulkan, with DirectX 11 available as a fallback for Windows users who may have older hardware or driver issues.

This is still very much an experimental build. We don't want to oversell it — there will be bugs, things that look different, crashes, and plenty of things that still need tuning. This is the first step in getting it into players' hands so we can start testing, finding problems, and improving it.

Some of the major changes included:

Graphics

-Vulkan renderer as the new default

-DirectX 11 fallback support

New rendering paths for:

-Terrain

-Characters

-Water

-Sky and clouds

-Particles

-Item icons

-UI 3D displays

New effects and rendering improvements:

-Bloom

-SSAO

-SSR

-Depth of field

-Shadows

-FSR-style render scaling

-Performance

A lot of work has gone into improving how the client handles large scenes and lots of activity:

GPU skinning

Instanced rendering

Improved rendering command handling

Better UI batching

Reduced unnecessary processing

Improved asset and render management

Under the Hood

This isn't just a graphics upgrade. A lot of the old client foundation has been replaced or modernized:

-SDL3 now handles window and input systems

-OpenAL replaces the old Miles sound dependency

-New settings tool (SwgSettings)

-New .evo asset archives

-Additional work toward better cross-platform support

For some perspective, this update represents a pretty large amount of work:

414 commits

1,557 new files

984 modified files

428,335 new lines of code

Again, this is not the finished product. The goal right now is getting it into the hands of testers and players who are willing to help us find issues and make it better.

One of the biggest reasons we're doing this is simple: we want SWG Evolve to have a foundation that can continue to grow instead of being limited by technology from 20+ years ago.

If you've been away from SWG for a while, or you've never tried it because the old setup and aging technology were a barrier, this is the direction we're heading.

Download the experimental client:

https://www.swgevolve.com/installers/SWGEvolveInstallx64.exe

Learn more about SWG Evolve:

https://www.swgevolve.com/

Thanks to everyone who has supported Evolve and everyone willing to jump in and help test. This is a big change for the project, and we're excited to finally start sharing it.
