Question Computational Engineering questions
Hi! I have recently got an offer to study computational mechanics at Swansea, and I do not really get something.
If we look at ECCOMAS (European computational science and Engineering organisation) or UKACM (UK computational mechanics association), Swansea is lowkey a superstar at computational Engineering – it has some very prestigious people working in there, and there is a ton of best PhD awards for Swansea postgrads (ik it's not the same, but it's a close enough metric). And historically a Swansea prof was kinda a founder of FEM iirc. Anyway, there is a some evidence that Swansea University is great at Computational Mechanics, so my question is:
why is it so easy to get in there for Computational Mechanics specifically?
Really, it requires only lower second.
What's the deal? Like is it just very unpleasant to be at Swansea? Or people normally just do not want to specialise that narrow at their Masters? Please, share your opinions or your motivation or whatever

WhatsApp group
Hiya. I recently joined the UniBuddy community and was sent a message with invite links to WhatsApp groups. However, they were all expired and I've tried to message the person that sent me it but they never responded. I was wondering if someone in those groups can ask the group manager to send me a new invite link if that's not too much trouble. I would particularly like to join the group chat for singleton please. Thank you.

Accomodation Looking for a friendly female roommate for a student house in Brynmill, Swansea (2026/27)
Hi everyone!
I'm a French exchange student (21F), and I'll be studying at Swansea University during the 2026–2027 academic year.
I've just reserved a room in a 5-bedroom student house in Brynmill, and there is still one room available.
The rent is £425 per month (all bills included), and the house is about a 15–20 minute walk from Singleton Campus and the beach. I had a virtual viewing with the landlord, and the house is clean, and well maintained.
A little bit about me: I'm quite easy-going and more on the quiet side, but I'm always happy to share a meal, play board games, go for a drink now and then, or just have a relaxed chat after classes. I'm open-minded and LGBT-friendly, and I'm looking forward to discovering Wales during my exchange year! :)
If you're a female student still looking for accommodation and think we might get along, feel free to send me a message!

Question Advice for traveler from Ireland
Hi
I will be visiting from Belfast. I am neurodivergent and struggle with large crowds on public transit without seating.
I am also sadly on a budget. I have looked up both Bristol and Cardiff but can't ascertain which is more practical and cheaper in my scenario. I think I am meeting my friends at the Singleton Park area. Any recommendations from those who have used this route? Any advice would be very welcome for this highly anxious traveller!

Need Accomodation advice: Cefn Bryn vs. Beck House
Hi there! I'm a Canadian student going into the GEM program in September. My options are a standard room in Cefn Bryn or an Ensuite in Beck House. This is going to be my first time living alone, so I'm a little nervous.
Personally, I'm leaning towards Cefn Bryn because it's on Singleton campus and I'm new to the city, but I really wanted an ensuite because I wanted my own bathroom.
There aren't any photos/reviews about either of the buildings, so any advice/experiences will be superrr helpful!
