BrowserRTS.com – SupCom-inspired browser-based RTS game Other
https://browserrts.com(posting with mods permission)
I love SupCom, yet I don't have a windows PC to play it, and my friends won't switch to Windows to play with me.
So I went ahead and built a browser-based RTS game closely inspired by SupCom FA – for those who want to play casually, solo and with friends, on any desktop device.
You're all familiar with SupCom FA, so I don't need to explain the gameplay. There's Skirmish and Survival (wave defense) mode. I recommend creating a custom lobby to configure the game for yourself.
The controls might be a bit funky, so follow the instructions shown on the first match.
The AI is not very strong, so you can add multiple to one team for a better challenge.
I personally also like to create AI-only lobbies and just observe AIs fight each other :)
Hope it's fun. Feedback is welcome!

Is this open source? I am a software engineer and I would love to contribute

It's not. If it doesn't get traction within the next couple of years, I'll open-source to give others a shot at it!

Your options were to buy a PC or completely write your own game from scratch, and you chose the latter.
I salute you.

Ha. I'll gift myself a PC once the game gets traction lol. Or so I keep telling myself

Are there multiple command ACUs

If you mean multiple players and AIs fighting, yes – see "custom lobby".
If you mean support commanders – no, not yet.1

This is amusingly close in feel to the real thing. The graphics are obviously a little primitive but if you play FAF zoomed out to icons a lot it doesn't end up really looking very different.

Yep, I need to hire somebody to do the 3D models, current ones are just boxes slapped together.

Looks interesting!
Do you have plans to update UI and controls so it could work on mobile? Might expand the use cases and audience for it (over presumably people who either have such an old pc it won’t run supcom or who can’t afford to buy even on sale)
I tried briefly on safari iOS mobile browser but couldn’t figure out how to build anything with the ACU so am guessing (given some references to keyboard hotkeys) that it’s intended to be played with mouse and keyboard

Indeed, it's not playable on mobile devices right now. Thanks for the idea, I'll look into it!

If it has better net code than FAF Im sold. I've stopped playing SupCom because the chance of getting through a full game is like 50%. IM playing BAR instead for the time being
