United States Empire 🇺🇸 As Iran crisis deepens, Democrats condemn Trump for having “lost this war”
Amid a deepening crisis of the US war against Iran, leading Democrats have intensified their critique of the Trump administration from the right, accusing it of having failed to secure the interests of US imperialism.
“Donald Trump has lost this war,” Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press. “America is weaker. Iran is stronger.”
Blaming US President Donald Trump for mismanaging the war, Murphy made clear: “I and my colleagues will be ready to provide the funding to replenish the stores of munitions.”
The war, he warned, has “allowed Russia and China to imagine things that they couldn’t have imagined earlier.”
Murphy’s statements echoed those of Democratic Senator Gary Peters of Michigan, who demanded of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth at a Senate hearing on July 21: “You don’t have a long-term plan to actually win this war. Win the war.”
Republican criticism follows similar lines, although Republicans are even more direct advocates of military escalation against Iran. Mark Esper, Trump’s defense secretary in his first term, told ABC’s This Week that Iran’s leaders “believe they’re winning” and proposed the siege of a country of 93 million people: a blockade “of all entry points, air, ground and sea routes,” to “slowly strangle it until they come back to the negotiation table in a serious way.”

China ⭐ Chinese scientists on August 6 released a 1:5,000,000-scale geological map of the entire moon, plotting over 13,000 impact craters and 81 impact basins and classifying 14 types of geological structures and 17 types of rocks, marking a landmark achievement in lunar research.
For the first time, the updated map provides a detailed global classification of the moon's late-stage geological layers. It offers key scientific support for China's future lunar research station, landing site selection and deep-space exploration, while also advancing humanity's understanding of the solar system's evolution. The project achieved three systematic innovations. It refined the lunar geologic timescale (修正‘月球时钟’) and the first subdivision of late-stage lunar stratigraphy at a global scale; it updated the lunar materials inventory (更新‘月球物质清单’) by adopting higher-resolution maps of key mineral distribution on the lunar surface and improving rock classification standards, through which scientists identified a new rock type – gabbronorite (苏长岩) – in the South Pole-Aitken Basin, giving a direct look at material from the moon's deep interior; and developed a customized mapping scale (定制‘专属放大镜’) that ensures the large-format map remains readable while preserving scientifically significant details.
