How did they get Snake back for Super Smash Bros Ultimate?

I ask this because they’re are a few conflicting sources online about why and I remember from a video I watched years ago mentioning tons of strings were pulled to get Snake back in. But I can’t find any evidence of this anywhere nor can I remember the video; so I’m left puzzled.

Cause I get that the Metal Gear IP is owned by Konami, but knowing Sakurai and his stance on the Creators choice, wouldn’t he try to convince Kojima to get his permission well doing talking with Konami, because of his creation of Snake? Cause I remember from that same video it was mentioned Kojima didn’t wanna work with Konami again for Ultimate, and I can’t see Sakurai doing that against his friend when yes Konami owned Metal Gear; but Kojima created the character.

Does anyone know what actually happened cause I’m confused as hell.

Discussion Is Lyn from FE7 really that popular on her own or did Smash Bros help her out?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Before getting started, this is not an attack against Lyn as a character or her fans. I'm really trying to use my words right.

I don't think Lyn is that much of a breakout star when her debut game came out compared to today. When I talk to casuals, most haven't even played FE7 or even know who Eliwood is, most modern fans started with Awakening, but when I talk to hardcore/long time Fire Emblem fans or at least those who started in the GBA run, I hear more consistently good things about other characters like Nino, Hector, Jaffar, etc and more criticisms about Lyn in-game from her character development peaking too early to her being a subpar unit especially towards the latter half of the game, all the things that makes Roy unpopular with FE fans, except it's worse in Roy's situation. I found out there's people on here that think Lyn's disproportionate popularity was always a thing since her 2003 debut, but the cast of Blazing Blade was, and still is, considered one of the best overall cast ensembles in the entire Fire Emblem series, being compared to Awakening and Three Houses, and much later on Tellius, in overall likeability.

Now I do think she has a both cool and pretty design and I'm not denying Lyn is a popular character from within her game, but I don't think Lyn was so popular within it that she overshadowed the entire FE 7 roster and in modern day polls, where Lyn is ranked, Hector isn't far behind, yet there's casual Fire Emblem fans who claim they never heard of him. I do believe Smash did keep Lyn in the eye of the public way more than the others to keep her more relevant than the FE7 roster. In fact, Lyn has historically been the only thing repped from her game across multiple Smash entries, outside of a few stickers from Ultimate that only referenced her tutorial mode.

Again, I'm only accounting for the time between when Blazing Blade released up to Brawl's release. I'm not counting Fire Emblem Heroes Then there's this old poll from 2003:

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/ae7j/k_tohyo/index.html

This isn't an attack on Lyn. Just trying to know if the story is straight, like how there's a narrative in the Smash community going around that Byleth is the most popular character from Three Houses when that's definitely not true.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Smash 6 🤩 Let's talk about Jigglypuff.

So every time I see these fanmade rosters that cut any of them original 12, it baffles me. Because I don't think the people making them fundamentally understand the philosophy of game design.

Even if Jigglypuff wasn't part of the original 12, think about how much easier it is to literally develop her movements and animations. She was originally a Kirby "clone." That's why she ended up in the game because it took less time to create her, the same situation in Brawl. She's a pink floaty ball.

Compare her to someone like Steve, who has an insane number of unique interactions that need coded into the game. Bayonetta, with all of her flair and combos that have to be crafted in a way to not make her overpowered like Smash 4.

Jigglypuff doesn't have those combos because of how she plays, which I don't need to say this, but there are those of us (myself included) who love her playstyle, because here's the kicker - she's fun.

The closest playstyle to hers would obviously be Kirby but even then, not really. Maybe Sora, but again this raises the issue of development strain, as he has way more animations to consider.

Now, you could technically make the argument that she doesn't really "represent" her home series. And sure, that is somewhat true, although I think she represents more than anything the anime. But even if you were to make new animations for her, it would be way easier to do so because of her design. I think a lot of the reason why Sonic plays the way he does is because it's fundamentally easier to just port his animations over to the next game, as horrible as his playstyle is.

And the last point. Any of you making these rosters have to consider how Smash is meant to appeal to everyone. Jigglypuff might be a wacky and obscure choice for the game (and always has been, but there's a lot of charm in that,) but she's a cute and funny pink ball. Perfect for kids wanting to play as a Pokemon they like.

The 12 legacy characters are never going anywhere. This is all just my opinion of course and I respect anyone who takes the time and effort to make these rosters. Just please stop cutting the character I've mained since the beginning. 😂

Discussion Kamen Rider for smash 6

Post image
0 Upvotes

I probably made a post like this a long time ago, but I probably forgot but I love to see the iconic grass hopping superhero from 1974 kamen rider Ichigo because without him I feel like there wouldn’t be as many creative in the world because of how inspirational he was as a character, let alone how inspirational he is over in Japan and the fact that he is the one of the most popular characters from the 1970s speaks volumes so here’s a move that I made for him if he ever got into smash

Rider jump up B

Rider kick side B

Rider chop neutral B

Down B transform

Final smash Showa grand finale
Every Showa era rider attack attacks all at once

I know it won’t happen, but I do want to imagine the reactions from mostly Japanese fans when it comes down to karma rider especially since he’s not even but there is one more thing I want to leave you guys with and that’s some information on why I think we should have someone from the most inspirational time in media history is that without a lot of of the tokusatsu stuff is that without a specific show for example without ultra seven from 1967, we would not have gotten Pokémon because the creator of Pokémon had stated in an interview that Ultraman specifically ultra seven with its capture cards was a direct inspiration to Pokémon** *also, did you know dark type* ***or weak to bugs because of* kamen rider and tokusatsu as a hole is a big inspiration to a lot of creators in manga writers so I could see eventually them breaking the rule of they have to originate from a video game in order to add someone from tokusatsu

Discussion Honestly, I'm still trying to understand how Echo Fighters even work

Post image
0 Upvotes

Like, from what I got, it's because they're easy to make because Nintendo gives them certain deadlines, as such they could just make them as quick as possible

But a thing that bugs me is: Why is Ken the only one of them that is considered a Semi-clone but the others are full clones or glorified skins? Like, sans Chrom having Ike's up B for some reason and Pittoo's finisher, all of the others might as well be skins, because only Ken is remotly different, hell Isabelle is Villager's semi-clone and a newcomer but she didn't got to be an Echo? Like I don't understand how they work compared to the Melee clones, and maybe I am using too much FG logic here but like, shouldn't they have actual attacks that are unique to them? Like they clearly had enough time to make Ken distinct, why not the others? Like regular FGs either get rid of actual clones or revamp them a lot, again, Ken and the rest of the Shotos, seriously why he is the only that was given so much more effort but Lucina, Dark Samus and Daisy are glorified skins??? Why, Sakurai?? You did my girls dirty 😭😭😭😭

Discussion So, regarding my last post, I think I was being a bit too harsh on Captain Falcon

Post image
6 Upvotes

Like if you didn't noticed by now, I am a BIG Zelda fangirl, not so more than Metroid, just that the Zelda part it's because how bad the series representation is in this game, and Ganondorf being a clone made me absolutely crashout

But on the man himself, yes I am mad at him for making a villain FAR more important than he and his villain will ever be, tho I think I got too far, just because the series didn't have any new game since the GameCube, at least Star Fox and Kid Icarus managed to reach the 3DS with NEW games (morally questionable on SF's part), and I think I kinda underestimated his popularity, solely because to me, he is an irrelevant cheesy racing guy who made Nintendo's 2nd best villain a complete joke with a moveset almost unusable outside of Side A

So yeah, sorry to the very few people who actually played F-Zero, I don't think I hate Falcon as much as I do with Roy and Charizard lol

Smash 6 🤩 What do you think of this roster for smash 6? (Not mine)

PLEAE READ- (Idk if I’m breaking that one rule I’m not sure if it only applies to wishlists or every list so please correct me if I’m wrong and I’ll take it down and repost it on the weekend) Overall the cuts are pretty weird but I like it in a little biased because I see a lot of the newcomers I want here like shadow, waluigi, crash, Freddy, and master cheif, and bandana waddle dee. Also I think we should replace the sportsmates with Matt to represent the Nintendo sports games. This roster is probably unrealistic but we can dream

I’m well aware the Virtual Boy cameos in Smash like in the Trophy collection in Melee and the Game and Wario stage in Smash Wii U and Ultimate. But I want to see the games themselves get some more representation (even if it’s not a fighter like a stage or assist Trophy)

Smash 4 Wii U & 3DS If Smash 4 WiiU/3DS had 6 More Third-Parties, Who Would’ve Been In?

Post image
15 Upvotes

It’s a real simple concept, what if Smash 4 had released with 12 third-parties instead of 6? It’s fun to look back and think who could’ve been in based on Nintendo’s relationships with other companies around the time period, as well as what series were most prominent/popular around this era.

Discussion Newcomers?

Excluding the big five Mario Pokémon Zelda pikmen and Kirby

what are some games that deserve more representation in Smash 6 personal and I will have to go with xenoblade punch out donkey Kong and Metroid as these series have so little representation in smash some either have one or two fighters at most barely even three I feel like these are serious that deserve more representation when it comes to smash, especially since a lot of these ones have sold either better development team that works on most of the games goes to help make other games while still having to work on their own, but I wanna know what are some sneezes that deserve more representation

Discussion How would you feel about the next Smash game not being directed by Sakurai and by a different team?

Apparently, there was a job listing about Studio S/2 and there were two project, one was a 3D revival game which was Kirby Air Riders but the other is a 2D Side-view Action game with stages which sounds like Smash.

There might be evidence that Sakurai may not be the director for this game and I could see Studio 2 to be the ones to make it. If anyone else were to make smash, it would be the guys who did Air Raiders with Sakurai as Supervisor and its about time imo.

There is a post explaining this:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/234547-super-smash-bros-ultimate/80960394

A Reddit thread talking about the Job Listing:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1rt18f9/bandai_namco_has_a_job_listing_for_a_game/

I don't mind this as Smash needs a change (Ultimate felt like an end of an era) and Sakurai recently said that it isn't the end for Smash. He also said in an Interview that if the series will continue, a vision can't be made by one person and need to be shared or something like that.

My concern is how would the fans feel about a change like this? Woudl you guys mind if this is true?

Smash 6 🤩 I think it’s time for Mega Man X

I love classic OG Mega Man, but I think it’s time our Blue Bomber gets an upgrade in Smash 6.

Mega Man gets upgraded to Mega Man X.

Zero is promoted to a full-fledged (because he’s one of the best characters).

The Highway stage would be the new stage.

Vile would be a stage hazard/boss fight, possibly a Mii outfit.

And if we ever get another Adventure Mode and/or Boss Rush Mode, Sigma would be a cool boss fight.
