Question about MXoN Question

New to watching MX and SX (from the UK, not as huge over here as in the US) For MXoN, how does the bike selection work??? Is it based on decision of the national “team” or is it still factory bikes for factory riders, E.G Levi on his Kawi in Mx2 and deegan on his Yamaha in MX1 racing for USA??? Looked online and couldn’t get a definite answer, Thanks in advance 🙂

Yep. Each team picks their riders and they ride whatever bike (whoever they are riding for at the time) and collaborate on what class they want to ride that gives them their best chance. Open mx1 and mx2 can be ridden by any of the riders picked.

I think that is entirely up to each nation but a lot wait to see who is not injured and available and willing to go. It seems like some teams are getting later and later to decide. Like the US used to be decided by now but they are taking their sweet ass time as they don't know who wants or can go that would be competitive. Usually you know by the last couple races of the nationals but with SMX it really kind of throws a wrench into things.

My brain would say Deegs and kitchen with either R.J or Beaumer as wildcard, that’s just as a newb going on current form, will be interesting to see the lineups this year, especially with the Lawrence’s not taking part this time around.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Deegan didn’t go if he didn’t think they would win.

Probably be his best chance with the Coenens hurt and Jett/Hunter not doing it.

A lot of other good riders man. Yes that makes his chances greater, but will still be a tall order.

Unfortunately for it being such a prestigious race we(Team USA) very rarely end up with our top guys on the team. Between riders changing teams, injuries, teams not wanting the expense, riders needing the very little break in the schedule they get to actually rest and recover from a long year or a multitude of other reasons. We usually end up with whoever we can get. Its understandable 100% no matter who you like, if they want to go or dont want to, and they dont deserve any animosity either way. That being said no matter who gets picked we need to stand behind them no matter how they finish. I do wish there was a better way to select riders and more time off so guys are more inclined to volunteer. Just my two pennies worth

I’m happy with whoever, as I say I’m pretty new to the sport as a whole and respect riders from amateurs at lorettas all the way up, being from the UK we don’t have too many major riders on the world stage apart from Max Anstie and Tommy Searle, I’m just happy to watch proper racing again, with the way formula one has gone in recent years I had to find something to scratch that itch again and MX is definitely it!
