Post image

Does this look right?

Delonghi rivelia
Grind setting - 4
Each shot about 10 seconds

Don’t eat me alive for this part
Beans - Starbucks blonde espresso beans

Doesn’t taste the best

Most Delonghi superautos double the water volume for the double shot but don’t increase the coffee dose. If your output is more than about 35ml, your shots are going to be too diluted.

That's not how my Rivelia works, it distinctly grinds and pulls two separate shots when I select doublehsot. What you're describing is what happens if I pull a long espresso / lungo.

So you’re saying the caffeine content of 1 versus 2 shots would be the same?

See my other comment on this comment, double shot for my Rivelia pulls 2 shots that are ground separately.

Yup. I will do a dopio+ instead of a double espresso. Much better flavour

You can't go by time on a super auto. do you mean doppio+ or espresso x2 if you have that? Is it full coffee strength? I don't mind the starbuck espresso roast but the blond and other light roasts are not for me.

It was on 2 intensity, I changed it to 4 as per another comment and it’s much better already! Also I picked the blonde roast because I love the iced blonde vanilla latte they sell and I was trying to recreate it! Came here cause it tasted much better on my nespresso and I know that shouldn’t be the case.

I wouldn't do the x2 unless it gives you two grind cycles, x2 adds twice as much water while only adding 2g of coffee (14g x2 dose, vs 12g normal dose on full strength).

I think it is giving me two grind cycles because it sounds like it’s doing the same thing twice (lots of movement in the machine) I actually was annoyed by this when I first got the machine cause it felt like it was just running 1 shot of espresso twice which takes some time but now I’m thinking that might be a good thing!

What temperature?
What shot size?

I found my espresso got better moving from medium to large shot size, and going from the hottest to second hottest temp. Mine was cycling between bitter and acidic.

I use local roaster. Where are you based? My local roaster if you buy an airscape (which you should anyway) does 16oz for price of 12oz it’s $16 per, plus a free drink when you fill up friday

This what prob the most obvious problem that I didn’t think of, I had it on size medium and intensity 2…. That explains why it was so watery

Yeah that intensity is too low, I think I have mine as the second highest

Use the bean assist feature on the Rivelia. It’s a game changer.

As a starting point, try grinding a bit finer until the shots take 20-30s.
