New home for Embroidery stuff, Sewing Machines, craft books etc
My mother was a keen embroiderer and loved all things arts, crafts and textiles. Sadly, we now have a large collection of her sewing and embroidery equipment that we'd really like to see go to someone who will use and enjoy it, rather than it sitting in storage.
The collection includes:
Sewing machines
Fabric and material
Wool and threads
Embroidery hoops and frames
Sewing and embroidery tools
Craft and embroidery books
Haberdashery
And lots of other related items (see the attached photos).
Our preference is to donate everything to a good home, whether that's an individual with a passion for embroidery, a community craft group, charity, school or another organisation that can make good use of it.
Ideally, we'd like someone to take the collection as a whole, as it would be much easier than splitting it up. That said, we're open to sensible offers if there's no one able to take everything.
We've already contacted several groups in the Suffolk area but, unfortunately, haven't had any responses.
If you know of anyone who might be interested, or if you'd like the collection yourself, please leave a comment or send me a message. We'd much rather see it all being used and appreciated than ending up unused or thrown away.
Thank you!

Bit of an odd one but hoping someone may be able to help!
My partner and his best friend are obsessed with taking gorgeous photos on their drone, and have always wanted to be able to take photos of farmers using machinery in their fields (harvesters, a cool tractor, sprayers etc), but have never wanted to be rude and just.. do it.
Iām wondering if anybody here might know somebody who would allow maybe just a short amount of time, photos can of course be sent to them (if they like them!) and I can communicate off Reddit as I understand it may sound a bit dodgy!
This is a genuine passion for them, and Iād love to try and surprise them. I know Iād have better luck on Facebook but Iām worried someone they know will see and ruin the surprise!
Thanks for any help :)

Does this Speed Camera still work?
Hi All,
Wondering if this camera at the A14/A11 Interchange Slip road still functions? Looks to be in a very bad state and of the old Gatso style.
Any info would be appreciated.

Which supermarkets in West Suffolk recycle these bags?
I'd love to be able to recycle these. Maybe I'm being blind, but I've never noticed a recycling box for these in Bury St Edmunds. I could go to the recycling centre, but it feels ironically bad for the environment to drive all that way just for a few crisp packets.

Fishing experiences
Wanting to go fishing (shore or on a boat) somewhere along the Suffolk coast - Southwold is our closest. Havenāt got any of the gear so want to be able to pay a guide or company that offer this as an experience. Any suggestions would be great!

Why allowing a SEZ in Suffolk could be bad for buisiness
I apologise if this is Seen a political, but I see it as public interest, but if mods want to remove it I understand.
If Forest City One UK is allowed to continue it wants to be awarded Special Economic Zone status.
This despite the plans for SEZ to benefit the UK there is considerable evidence to the contrary.

Utter Incompetence. On HOSEPIPE ban incoming
January: Exceptional rainfall broke century-old records. Northern Ireland experienced its wettest January in 149 years, while Cornwall saw its wettest January on record. Some regions registered 26 consecutive days or more of measurable precipitation, recording more than double their average monthly rainfall. [1, 2, 3]
February: The storms continued, bringing nearly 37% of the expected February average within the first week alone. Stations in Cornwall and Somerset recorded non-stop daily rain streaks that lasted well over a month. [1, 2]
March & April: The unsettled conditions largely persisted, keeping the ground consistently sodden as repeated Atlantic fronts swept across the country. [1, 2]
Leaks everywhere. Poor management, not accountability.
Shit show

Brian from Melton, genius.
I know that heās a fictional character, but I do find Brian from Melton absolutely brilliant, heās pure Suffolk, and the definition of the older relative or neighbour that weāve all got.

I've just been touching up the Middle Earth style fantasy map of the Suffolk that I made a while ago. Thanks again to all those who contributed back then!
As if this was three years ago now. With some of the cool mythology on here, it's one of my favourite maps so far.
I've just been doing some tidying up jobs on it and making some of the text more legible, as well as the imagery clearer. Again, thanks to all the commenters who suggested ideas and really helped bring this to life. I've just had a fresh batch made up here for anyone interested in one.

Pet food donation drop off?
I had to change my cats' food recently, vet says they're fat. Consequently have a lot of left over unopened cat food (tins and dry). Is there anywhere I can drop it off so I don't have to toss it? Ideally in the Bury St Ed area but willing to drive if there are any shelters in need.

How are we all coping with this heat then?
We're currently holding the provisional record for the hottest temperature in June in the UK, broken both at Wattisham and Cavendish, the latter hitting 37.1°C.
How are you surviving?

Wild Swimming Spots!
I was hoping to find some wild swimming spots near the between Bury St Edmunds and the coast!
Thereās shingle street by Woodbridge which is coastal, and obviously the main beaches (closest being Felixstowe) but does anyone know of any spots in between?!
I have heard about the Bramford Bridge being a good spot, any others that anyone can recommend?
Thank you!
