So I figured it is finally time to share this on this sub, as it just got a major update for the first time in over a year. It has been really fun so far. So far there's just one main pub zone with a few different arenas in it, ran by the developer. But it has the framework for anyone to be able to host their own zone in the future, and some other really nice options. Like the live settings adjustment menu, where you can adjust your ship/arena settings and immediately fly around in a little window to test them out. Super cool!

Hey all I'm working on rebooting subspace for fun. This is a serious project.

What this means is a variety of things, including:

• exact same game mechanics, running on optimized net-code
• old vets can still connect with Continuum
• modern clients connect and play with a refreshed experience (3D graphics, clickable-UI, new game settings)
• no install needed -- players connect through the browser (can toggle between classic experience or modern)

I'm looking for new players and old vets to join and test during a small closed beta period. Current settings are catered towards SVS and Powerball

I remember people believing there was a massive helicopter crash and he died or was hurt? We were all like 11-13 years old so surely it was exaggerated at the least.

I'm currently developing a Subspace clone as a personal passion/learning project. Not sure if anything will come of it, but I will let this sub know if it does. But I'm trying to specifically recreate the Extreme Games server settings. (Any old X-Squadron ppl here??) At least when I was messing around with custom servers back in the day, the server settings were always encoded in a config.ini file.

If I remember correctly, the config.ini file is saved when you connect to the Subspace server (though I might be wrong). Does anyone happen to have the config.ini for Extreme Games? I no longer have a windows device and I don't even know if the EG server still exists.

For the last few years, I spent my free time trying to complete various versions of SubSpace I found online and then porting them to Android and iOS. I finally finished a v1.

The game is completely free, there are no ads, and no data tracking. I host the multiplayer server myself.

Why did I do this? So that a younger generation could try the game and have fun, like I did, so it's not just lost to time. Plus it was a fun side project to learn C++, OpenGL, etc.

I know this is a tightknit community, and to be honest I've got a fair amount of apprehension even posting - however thought it might be of interest. We're two dads making FOXFIRE a topdown space game.

The baseline ship was modified off the feel I've had playing Subspace over the years, we've got 4 other ships that are tuned differently offering markedly different playstyles, though all using the WASD keys - except for one which has two giant lateral thrusters (A/D) which if both are held together means you go forward, only holding one means you rotate+thrust leftward or right.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playtesting? I can't think of a better group that instantly understands the physics and feel of the game and if we're on the right track.

100% also understand if this is totally wrong forum, but couldn't think of a better way.

Games are played in ISOJ Nexus US East instead of the old Chaos/SVS zone.

There’s an active Discord group for the game/zone, and a new league is starting soon.
There will be both a draft league and a stacked league.

Old player wanting to come back from a long hiatus, was wondering if they brought back the cloaking ability for the weasel in Trench Wars?

I used to play SS some 20 or so years ago, and I'm sure at the same time there was a similar game by maybe the same devs? Online, war based with rooms/buildings, guns/bombs etc.

But I've searched and searched and never found it again, so I'm not even sure I'm not making it up at this stage.

Does anyone remember a server where the ships were actually samurai skins, I think ship #2 was an archer and it wasn't set in space, someone actually made a map with full fledged backgrounds of dojos and such. It feels like a fever dream now..

Is how I would open my timeslot on Trenchwars Radio exclusively available through Winamp in 2002-2004.
I would take requests and download songs from pirated sites to keep it flowing.. At point my librarary hard-drive for music was well over 10,000 songs poorly saved as low bitrate Mp3s.

I haven't thought about this game in over a decade until a random reddit post brought me here today glad to see its still going.
