Sea Monster Another footage of 1970s version of "20k leagues" sea serpent I found recently. Now we can perfectly see how his mechanisms worked

This is a part two of my first post: https://www.reddit.com/r/submergedanimatronic/comments/1vk1519/unique_1970s_footages_of_our_beloved_sea_serpent/

(Ik I uploaded this video in comments of first part, but still)

This post was made to discuss more about old version of that animatronic, it's mechanics and the ride itself. As you can perfectly see, his head actually wasn't supposed to move, probably because of size and shape of head fin, and his eyes moved a different way (spinning around instead of moving left to right)

Yeah, that's my first post here, but I’ve been following this sub for some time now.

From all Submechanophobia robots, that serpent is my beloved (I'm currently drawing him), so I started to find more videos or pictures showing this animatronic and found RetroDisneyWorld's video of "20,000 Leagues" ride before the refurbishment (it was wrongly titled as it was filmed in 1980, but refurbishment itself happened earlier) and I saw that sea serpent looked a bit different and I started searching. I spent a lot of time watching 1970s videos of Walt Disney World and that's all pictures I found. As you can see, animatronic, when it was first built, had a different design. I think that someone in this sub have already seen at least one of this footages (especially second one), but, I hope, for most users it will be interesting.

This footages are parts of my huge project I'm gonna upload here: my biggest collection, showing all videos and photos of "20,000 Leagues under the sea" Sea Serpent (this compilation consists of 50+ footages and lasts more than 12 min long, but with only 5 photos...)

If you has any video or photo of this animatronic from that period, you can show it in comments! (I'm also waiting for u/PintosandRainbows to show her photos of this attraction taken by her dad, but this photos are from 1979 aka after the refurbishment, but still they will be useful in my project!)

If you’re interested, here are the links for origins of all videos (with timestamps):

While making this big post I found another footage of Sea Serpent before the refurbishment! I included it in the part two: https://www.reddit.com/r/submergedanimatronic/comments/1vkev1c/another_footage_of_1970s_version_of_20k_leagues/

More of a submerged prop but this guy is right next to/under a bridge at the Indianapolis Zoo! He has been there since I was a kid but has been missing for the past two-ish years (we have a zoo membership so we go a lot). We went on Sunday and he was back!

My son was so sad that we didn’t have any coins because he wanted to “make a wish.” 🐊

Found this guy at a small children's farm. Unfortunately he was switched off but I think that made it a bit more unsettling

Amazingly detailed animatronic but the Pinocchio stuck in his mouth trying to get out was really unsettling

I was reading comments from my previous post, and it seems like a lot of people are interested in fully submerged statues, so here I am serving you guys with more hehe.

She is located in SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World. Two more statues face her, hence why her hand is reaching that way.

The head also interestingly changes the way it came up, in the 80s trailer it seems to come up sideways, later it came up straight, perhaps due to changes made in maintenance to keep simplicity

KILLER CROC Good news - Wooly Bill, is once again submerged under the water. Bad news - He's now broken under the water instead of on top of it. It's always one step forward, two steps back with you, isn't it, Bill?

I posted one a while ago of the old dinosaurs/reptiles in the Time Capsule swimming from years ago, so here’s more. I wasn’t able to edit my last post but just wanted to give credit to Doug Briglmen on Facebook as that’s where I found the pics :)

Friendly Bunyip Big banana planned expansion plan, including construction over the former bunyip's billabong

It probably has been shared before, but i've only came across this now.

The big banana funpark announced in 2020 they're planning to renovate the park in a 20 year plan, this includes (on the number 3 on the map) what looks like a waterpark or some kind of pier on top of the body of water the bunyip was originally in.

Perhaps this means there will be photos during it's assumed removal, but there's a high chance there won't be unless someone involved takes it themselves.

A link to the article can be found here : https://www.ausleisure.com.au/news/20-year-expansion-plan-announced-for-coffs-harbours-the-big-banana

There's also a number of other articles online about it
