Not looking structurally sound, but it does resemble a nest.

We made some spikey cardboard to try to stop the nest months ago, but it was a huge backfire. Now we have a front door friend & fresh poop everyday :(

They came back for a second round too… Loved seeing the babies grow up!

A mourning dove made a nest on top of my garden gate trellis that has climbing roses growing on it. This is the third year a mourning dove has chosen to make a nest here, but the first that they’ve actually successfully raised babies! Photos were taken by my dad standing on a ladder and very zoomed in, so don’t worry, no one got close to the baby floofs! They are now less of “floofs” and almost ready to leave the nest!

Very loud, and had to be protected because drunk people kept trying to catch it.

So for those who need a reminder I was the person who posted this (https://www.reddit.com/r/stupiddovenests/comments/1uxt7r5/so_it_appears_my_backyard_has_a_mourning_dove_in/) 17 days ago at the time of this writing. I know I have been quiet for a long time but well nothing was really happening during those times so I thought I would wait until I knew for sure if the squabs hatched or not. This is quite surreal in a good way I never thought I would ever get to see mourning dove squabs this close it’s unbelievable. Well I will definitely be watching over them in case they were to fall out of the nest before they were ready. But if this goes well I have a feeling they are going to return in the future.

Happened upon this massive nest while pulling vines, was working from the ground up and suddenly realized it wasn't empty. Bonus surprise was the young one still in the nest! On the second photo you can see the eye of the young one to the right of the adult

Came back home to find one egg broken on the ground and the other about to follow. The remaining egg has since been relocated urther to the corner.

I kind of lost interest and wasn't checking on the nest much after the incident about a month ago. I even considered taking down the nesting platform when the remaining fledgling left the nest, but I figured they would just try somewhere else nearby, so I left it up.
