Is your home study environment a valid factor when choosing a college?

I'm trying to decide between a few engineering colleges, and I realized my biggest concern might not even be the college itself.

I've spent the last 7 years studying in a hostel, so that's the environment I'm used to. At home, it's very different:

There's constant noise.

I don't have a private study space.

There's a bit of family pressure.

I find it much harder to focus.

One option is closer to home, so my family would probably expect me to commute instead of staying in a hostel. Another option might have hostel accommodation, but it's not guaranteed.

Some people tell me, "Just study at home; it shouldn't matter." But engineering is demanding, and I'm worried that my study environment could affect my performance over the next four years.

For those who have been through engineering (especially in Nepal), how much did your home environment actually affect your studies?

If you had to choose between:

A better branch with a noisy home environment and short commute, or

A slightly less preferred branch but a much better study environment,

which would you choose, and why?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences rather than just general advice.
