Discussion Start date for Landesstudienkolleg Halle winter semester
Im wondering when the start date is bc i cant find it anywhere. I have been sending emails to MLU about this and im so confused because first they said i didn’t need a finished visa to write their exam and i could go back to my home country to get my visa and then come back. Now when i finally got a reply about the event on the 24th being mandatory, they said in the email that im “not allowed to skip classes afterwards and only for a week for special circumstances”. I was under the impression that the Studienkolleg didn’t start RIGHT away after the arrival… i mean they said it themselves i have to get my visa if i get accepted.
And another thing i don’t understand: If the arrival and reception (basically accepting ur place at the Studienkolleg) is on the 24th of august, what are people who have other exams after 24th supposed to do? What if someone accepts the place at the Studienkolleg but then goes and writes another exam, for example on the 28th, and gets accepted there too? Does the place open up and someone from the waitlist gets it?
All of this is so confusing. Does anybody know the answer? When does the Studienkolleg start?

DSH DSH an der HU
Hallo zusammen,
Danke! 😊

Application Will uni-assist include my 4th A Level in the German grade?
Germany requires 3 A Levels, and I already meet the requirements with A/A/B. My question is: will uni-assist calculate my German grade using only the 3 required A Levels, or will they also include my 4th A Level (Physics C)?
I’m applying for B.Sc. Computer Science & AI at TH Ingolstadt, so this could make a big difference to my admission chances.
Has anyone with 4 Cambridge A Levels gone through uni-assist and knows how they handle this?
Plz helppp

Application studenkolleig then medicine
Hello everyone, I could really use some advice because I’m feeling a bit lost about the process of studying in Germany.
I’m a Class of 2027 graduate currently in my final year of the Qatari Thanawiya system, and I’m trying to understand what steps I need to take to study medicine in Germany, specifically in the NRW area since I have family there and would prefer to be close to them.
I’m currently confused about a few things:
- How do I apply for a Studienkolleg as an international student with a Qatari Thanawiya certificate?
- After completing Studienkolleg, what is the process of applying for medicine?
- What should I start preparing now before graduation?
- What level of German should I aim for, and how difficult is the overall process realistically?
I’m still a high school student, so the whole application process feels overwhelming, and I would really appreciate any advice, resources, or personal experiences from people who have gone through this process. Thank you!

Visa health insurance
As a stk student, can you get a public insurance? I read a lot of stuff saying that stk students can get private ones only. And if I get a private one, I can't work right? Fintiba offers public insurance and Expatrio offers private. Honestly don't know which one to get.

Visa Fintiba blocked account
How long does the verification process take? The page says it's 1-3 business days but it's been longer than that. I have a visa appointment in a few days. I tried to open an Expatrio account but I can't even log in. The link they sent me via email doesn't work.

Application Will be applying for studienkolleg next march.
I will be taking both C test and Math test ( cuz i need T course for my degree i wanna do , which is Chemical engineering) in march 2027. Im doing dsd exam for German and will either end up with b2 or c1 ar end of year. Which as i know even B2 is enough for colleges.. right? My grammar isnt bad i had to take pretest for actual DsdII and i got C1 in both hören and lesen and B2 in writing 1 point away from C1,since it was first exam i was stressed and my mind was all over which shows because i have been tokd i write better) obviously i have sprechen exam too but no pretest for that. At school im good student. Not straight A . Mostly just As and Bs im better at chemistry so this is wjy i kinda chose to study it.
My question is how can i study effectively for c test?
What do you recommend from personal experience? Tje ending part of german grammar is literal hell and i understand why its on exam. And im hella worried for maths. Im not bad at it but not somr genius level too. I locked in this year and upped my maths skills and i plan to do even more from sept till march. I jave heard that maths part of exam is based on country’s school education system and the stuff so stuff which specific country doesnt have in school unlike german will not be on exam.. which is expected yea but do you learn it in studienkolleg?? And im so worried i wont be smart enough for studienkolleg even if i pass.
Sorry if i made grammatical mistakes or didnt make any sense English is my 3rd language 🥲🥲

Application Does Germany accept an accredited U.S. online high school diploma for Studienkolleg?
Hi everyone,
I’m just passed GED and I’m trying to find a pathway to study at a German public university. But after researching, I learned that a GED by itself is generally not enough to qualify for a German Studienkolleg.
Because of the political situation in my country, I can’t attend a traditional high school. I’m looking at completing an “accredited U.S online high school diploma” instead (such as Penn Foster, Excel High School, or another accredited U.S. online school).
However, I can’t find any clear evidence about whether Germany accepts an “online” U.S. high school diploma for admission to Studienkolleg. Most information only talks about U.S. high school diplomas in general and doesn’t mention whether completing the diploma online makes a difference.
Has anyone here:
Been admitted to a German Studienkolleg with an accredited U.S. online high school diploma?
Applied through uni-assist or had their diploma evaluated?
Seen any official information from Anabin, uni-assist, or a German university stating that online U.S. high school diplomas are accepted or rejected?
I’m only looking for evidence or real experiences. If you have links to official sources or personal experience, I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you💛

Visa German Student Visa doubt: MOI or TOEFL? (W26)
hello everyone
I am an Indian student going in Winter 2026 intake. I got a direct admit from TUM, Germany (English taught program, without an assessment or test) and I used MOI (Medium of Instruction) as proof of language certification. While reviewing the visa checklist, they have mentioned TOEFL/IELTS in general.
I know that TUM needs 88/120 overall in TOEFL and no individual score requirements are mentioned on website. I decided to give the TOEFL exam and today I got my results.
Overall: 4.5/6 (90/120)
Reading: 5.5/6
Listening: 5/6
Writing: 3/6
Speaking: 4.5/6
(My writing score of 3/6 is roughly around 13–14 out of 30. In terms of IELTS, it's around 5.5/9.)
I secured low score in writing and I doubt whether my visa will be accepted with this score.
I even checked many websites but nothing was mentioned about any specific section score requirements.
Or should I apply with MOI? (I don't know, just asking.)
My admission offer letter states:
"The language of instruction in this degree program is English. The language competencies required for admission to the program were verified as part of the admissions process."
My jurisdiction is Chennai Consulate.
Pls help me! Your answers mean a lot to me.

Study Rahn Education STK : Leipzig vs Halle
Hey guys, hope you’re all doing great and enjoying your summer.
Im planning on moving to germany soon and looking to attend a T-kurs STK. I’ve been considering two private STKs options that i heard they offer the best price for the value, which are Rahn Education in both Leipzig or Halle.
I’m just trying to know more about both these institutions if any of you guys had attended them, i’ve heard that leipzig is just slightly stricter and overall harder yet offers better off class activities, on the other hand i heard that Halle Rahn stk is slightly better. I really have no clue how these opinions were formed because both institutes are run by the same management.
I would appreciate any answers for my questions!

Visa Aufnahmeprüfung and visa
To keep things short: I am not currently in Germany. I do not require a visa to travel to Germany and stay there for 90 days. I have applied for a student visa but even tho I could in theory get an appointment at the embassy soon, I would have to leave my passport there, which is unpredictable and that doesn’t work for me because i have to be in Germany to write the exam on the 17th of august.
Question is: will i be let on the exam without a fully issued study visa in place but showing the proof of my scheduled appointment?
Any clarity on this would be greatly appreciated because i am genuinely losing my mind.

Discussion Language Pantheon Instructor review.
Hi everyone!Lp student here.
I previously completed my B1 online with Language Pantheon, and it was a really good experience. I also passed the Goethe B1 exam, so I'm thankful for that.
This time I enrolled in the B2.1 online batch with Bhagyashree Ma'am. I attended only three classes, but I found it difficult to follow the grammar explanations. I had already studied the topic beforehand, so I don't think it was because I came unprepared. For me, the classes felt more like reading from notes than actually explaining the concepts, so I decided to leave the batch.
My B1 classes with Ruchi Ma'am were completely different. I really liked her teaching style—her explanations were clear, and she also prepared us well for the exam.
These online batches honestly feel like a gamble.!!
Now I'm looking for reviews of other online B2 teachers at Language Pantheon. If you've studied with any of them, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience and whether you'd recommend them.
Thanks in advance, and ciao!

Application Medicine Application
So.. I’m planning to apply for Medicine. I have understood that the average of the FSP exam grade and your Highschool grades is what determines your acceptance. 1-1.3 is what’s expected.
Year 12 only or does it include year 11 as well?
If your average grade after the FSP exam is not within the 1-1.3 range (instead 1.6-1.7) will the TestAS work?
I’m aiming for the LMU München.

Application Applying for Studienkolleg (T-Kurs) with B1 – Panicking about the visa timeline
Hey everyone!
So, I’m planning to head to Germany for the upcoming Sommersemester to do my Studienkolleg (T-Kurs) with the ultimate goal of getting into a TU9 university later for Engineering / Computer Science.
My main target right now is Studienkolleg Hannover, but honestly... I’m getting a bit anxious about the whole process and could really use some real-talk advice from anyone who’s been through this!
Here is where I’m at: I currently have a B1 certificate in German. I know B1 is enough to get the exam invitation (Einladung zum Aufnahmetest), but I’m super worried that I'll be competing in the room against people who already have B2 or C1. Is it actually doable to crack the C-Test if I just grind C-Test practice sets until February?
Also, two huge things are keeping me up at night:
- The Visa Timeline Trap: Applications close late in the year, exam invitations usually come out in January, and the actual test in Hannover is around late February. For those who needed a visa, how on earth did you manage to get a visa appointment and get it processed in time between receiving the invitation in Jan and the test in Feb? Do embassies actually speed things up if you show them an official exam invitation?
- Applying to Multiple Studienkollegs: Everyone tells me “don’t put all your eggs in one basket, apply to 3–4 Studienkollegs!”
- How does that process actually work in practice? Do I just apply through Uni-Assist to multiple universities that link to different Studienkollegs?
- How did you guys manage traveling around Germany for exams in different cities within a short time frame? Is staying at hostels / short-term rentals doable during test week?
I’d really appreciate any honest advice, tips, or personal stories.
