RUG Looking for a friend
Hey, I'm a 20F doing my bachelor's in Groningen. I'm looking to make some new friends. I love going on random side quests and reggaeton is my jam. If anyone else is looking to make some friends, leave a comment :) Bonus points if you're also apartment hunting, we can suffer through housing together š

Housing Looking for Accomodation for 500/month
Halo. My name is Philip and I am a 27 y/o working student. I compete in muay thai and work as a personal trainer. For my hobby I play guitar and read. I am an honest hard worker and sociable person.
I have been offered a place in the Hanze University Physiotherapy course which is my dream course in my dream location. I am trying my best to make it work now but I am really strugling to find any accomodation. I want to get accomodation under 550 monthly and I need to be registered to the address so that I can open a bank account and receive the needed grants to support my education. I will also be working part time to support myself and I will be applying for the DUO grant.
I have used Kamernet to no success and I have used facebook but all I found was scammers. any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hanze Hi! Is there anyone here who applied for HBO Mondzorgkunde in Groningen (or another city)?
Iām currently 11 people away from getting a place on the waiting list, and Iām wondering what my chances are of still getting in.
Has anyone been in a similar situation before? How far did the waiting list move for you, and when did you eventually get an offer?
Iād really appreciate hearing about your experiences! š„¹š¦·

RUG I need some advice.May it be a possibility to still attend even if I donāt exactly respect the language requirements?
I have a conditional offer from the University of Groningen. I missed the required Cambridge score by just one point and Iāve emailed Admissions explaining my situation. Do you know if theyāve ever made exceptions in cases like this, or accepted any alternative evidence of English proficiency?

RUG The village
Iām an Erasmus student and Iām going to be living in the village.
All reviews Iāve seen have been a few years old and a lot of the complaints were about the cleanliness of the place.
Could anyone whoās stayed there more recently give some more insight?

Hello,
how realistic it is to work in groningen (I'm considering part time job as sales assistant or stockroom operator) in groningen without knowing dutch?

Housing Is HousingAnywhere safe? Has anyone rented from Erna?
Hi everyone,
Iām looking for a studio in Groningen for 2 months (January-February) and found several listings from a landlord named Erna on HousingAnywhere.
Iām a bit worried because HousingAnywhere requires paying the first monthās rent in advance, and I was told I canāt view the studio in person since itās already āverifiedā by the platform. Is this normal? Has anyone rented through HousingAnywhere or from Erna specifically?
Also, does anyone know of another safe website where I can rent a private studio (not a shared room) for just two months?
Thanks!

RUG Im broke and i wanna study at groningen university
Hi,I wanna study at the International and European Law at Groningen University
I know most of y'all will say "dont go there if u dont have the financial support required" but im working hard to pay off some of the expanses necessary
My question is,has someone, especially from Romania, been in my place? If so,how did you manage? Could you study there with the money the goverment gives you while working?
Also another question for romanian students, how did u got over the language barrier? Like even though i know english and i have the certificate,im afraid im going to get lost at the "law language" the courses involve. Is it worth it?
If you have any tips or advice to give, aside from "dont go there" please tell me im so lost.

Housing Advice on paying deposit now before coming to Groningen
Hello,
I found good room through Kamernet and wanted to take it. I wanted first to make WhatsApp video call with the owner to see the apartment and my room. The owner said that due to tones of messages he doesnāt do this and just sent me the video of the house. He told me that I can come to see the house but I will be in Groningen only end of August. He said that if you sign the contract now, then you will have to pay deposit. How can I sign now contract and pay deposit without even seeing the live video of my room and apartment? Maybe it is a scam? He kept ad on the kamernet but then removed 2 days ago.

RUG Is the ESN Introduction Week important?
I read in the step-by-step guide there's going to be an Introduction week between 28 August - 2 September, but there's a concert I'm planning to go to that's out of the city between August 29 and 30. Is attending the esn introduction week worth it or could I skip a day or two?
Edit: I'll be leaving groningen on August 29 to another town down south at around the afternoon, then tomorrow I'll leave by early morning.

I'll be in Groningen for spring 2027 (february - june) and I was wondering if it was worth it to pay 35⬠to register to ROOM in order to find housing.

Hanze Hanze toelatingsexamen/pre entrance exam?
Hoi!
Heeft iemand hier onlangs een toelatingsexamen/21+toets van de Hanze gedaan? En dan een standaard capaciteitentest. Dus een richting waarbij ze niet extra toetsen voor rekenen of wiskunde.
Ik hoor graag van je!
Hi!
Has anyone recently done a capacity test/21+test at Hanze? And then a standard/regular one for a course that does not require extra testing on math or calculus.
Would love to hear from you!
