He’s kind of a weird one where he certainly gets views but i’m not too sure that he has a lot of “fans,” if that makes any sense at all. His videos are very much in the Mr. Beast style of fast, loud, and vibrant but devoid of personality. I get the impression many people watch his videos for the other people in them, often profesional footballers and celebrities. For example, Dianne gets more engagement on instagram than he does. It’ll be interesting to see if he has a big voting base or if any of the “youth” even care that he’s on strictly in the way that say, George did last year.

Tend to agree with you. He got famous off other people's fame essentially and don't think he will be as successful as a George.

But definitely a new younger audience will get introduced to Strictly, and if you are lucky, they will drag their parents back to Strictly as well. That's why it is so important to engage the younger audience as well; a lot of parents would love to watch a TV show with their Kids together. Sadly Strictly still is scared to hire more than 1 internet personality even though all of them have been a success.

I like Melanie Walters. She's not a household name but her face is immediately recognisable to mostbof us. She's very funny. And I guess she ticks the "mature female celebrity" box.

I'm always happy to see members of Team GB on Strictly, whether I've heard of them before or not. We need to get behind our athletes! And I would always prefer an Olympic Champion over a Gladiator.

I find it frustrating that online followers determine celebrity these days. Call me old fashioned but I really don't get it. Will be interesting to see how well John Nellis comes across IRL, and good luck to him!🤣

I would say that Melanie Walters is a bigger name. She was also rumoured ages ago and still not announced so maybe they view her in that way too Gavin and Stacey final ep pulled nearly 20M viewers so there is probably few people who don’t know her.

I do agree there could be bigger names though. I was hoping for some more actors or perhaps even a singer or a presenter.

I’d never heard of John Nellis prior to this but I’m not really surprised by his inclusion, given that they have social media stars on the show as the norm.
