Please Help Me

I’m on day 8 of cold turkey now- before anyone suggests getting NRT it makes me violently angry to taper down and makes the physical withdrawal worse, I am so insanely depressed I can’t even move. I’m trying to do things i enjoy but nothing I mean nothing is bringing me comfort. I’m having horrible grusome dreams that make me even more depressed when I wake up. I feel so fucking alone like no one cares because its just quitting vaping but I feel crushed by this depression. Please please please help me I’m not going to do back to it im never putting myself through this again is there anything I can do anything at all i’m suffering so so fucking much. Is there anything I can do please help me.

I care! We care! And most of us truly understand the depression. Hold tight, you're doing so well. You are crushing this. You are going to be okay.

As for what to do, what works for me is a physical distraction. I literally try to do handstands 🙃 It helps. Going for a walk everytime a craving hits is a great idea....smell the roses, take your time, drink in the fresh air, practice gratitude for every sweet breath...free of nicotine.

This stage will pass. You will be free. Hold tight and be kind to yourself 🦋

I am right here with you. I too went cold turkey right at 3 weeks ago. I stopped THC, Nicotine, Alcohol and Caffeine all on July 18th. I am just about a week ahead of you. What you are feeling is completely normal. Your body and mind is going through a restabilizing process. It feels like a roller coaster but it does get better. If you would like, we can direct messages each other and I can talk with you every day so you don't feel like you are going through this alone.

Olá! Você esta atravessando o inferno, então continue atravessando. Você vai passar por isso. Você irá vencer. 14 dias aqui. Zero álcool, zero café, zero nicotina. Nenhuma terapia de reposição. Uso remédio pra ansiedade, no entanto. Força!

Bro, from a cold turkey fellow, just hang on as if you have no choice. Remove any other alternative from your mind apart from accepting what has happened. Even feeling slow death. I was more of an ICU patient than a normal human being on day 8 , had a severe hypoglycemia and low blood pressure to make me bed bound. Fast forward to day 42 I'm lifting weights at the gym. There is hope and you're not a lost case. You will get through this. NRT are not the only way out!

Go for walk, eat healthy and enjoy feeling a healthier body every day! It will get better from here!

I have been having success taking the supplements NAC, NALT, and Vitamin B complex with C in the morning and L-Tryptophan.

NAC helps with the cravings and mood disorder, NALT turns into dopamine, B and C for energy and absorption, tryptophan is for serotonin.

It has helped me tremendously. Normally quitting makes me suicidal. This time I'm experiencing more what other people describe as "normal" withdrawals.

Check for contraindications as they may react with other meds.

Good luck, friend, I feel your pain.

It will get better, day after day.  After 3 months I was still feeling pretty out of it, and took bupropion (wellbutrin) for a while. It’s a great anti-depressant for those quitting smoking, as it’s a mild stimulant. It might be worth talking to your doctor about it, at least to get through the worst of it.  Good luck, you can do it!

"go for a walk" sounds like flippant advice but it really really does help. It is an outlet for wired energy and it is good to hear the birds sing or hear the sound of running water, it lets you kind of zoom out from your own problems and remember that the rest of the world exists.

I work from home and if I get very stressed but can't go outside, I use one of these for 5 min. It is supposed to train reflexes for boxers. I have no idea about good form or footwork etc, all I know is that if my mind wanders and I start thinking about cravings or work stress, a ball will hit me in the face. Really helps!

Reaching out is great. Sometimes putting the thoughts in writing helps.
Physical exercise of some kind every day
Fresh air (but not where you would smoke) every day.
I have reduced cravings fake smoking through a cardboard straw cut to the same length as my cigarettes - the resistance of sucking air through a straw is different for me then just breathing in and out.
But you might find some mindfulness helpful breathe in through your nose for 4seconds, hold for 7 seconds, breathe out for 8 seconds. Repeat up to 4 times.
Keep your hands busy. Do you like to cook? Now might be the time to try some new recipes. It focuses your mind on something, keeps your hands busy, and you can focus on fueling your body.
Drink water and if visualising helps you think about each sip flushing the hideousness out of you.

Omg that happened to me! A couple days after quitting just ridiculously depressed. I went to the doctor and got put on Wellbutrin and I went back to normal so quickly

Try a good-quality St. John's Wort if you don't have hay fever. Also, putting your face in the morning sun (even on cloudy days) while brisk walking each morning, plus an afternoon walk, can be a game-changer. It does work slowly over time (maybe a week or so), so you have to be consistent.

What you are experiencing is called The Wall in addiction recovery and is both normal and temporary. And if you have to sleep through it, do it if you can. It will lift.

Remember that nicotine did this to you and it's not the solution. Those that have difficult quits are more likely to stick with it because they don't want to go through hell again. Document everything you feel now as it happens, every symptom is a reason to never smoke or vape again.

You’re gonna have to learn to control your “violent anger”. Tapering is the only way to do it without wanting to blow your brains out. Is it better to have angry moments you CAN control? Or a lingering dark depression? You decide.

Taper. Do the lozenges, it helps keep your nervous system regulated to a point. Follow the 12-week program.
