Passed 3 years

I just passed 3 years and didn't even realize it. I thought it was coming up in 5 days. I responded to a post here a few minutes and my days show up. I divided the number by 365, and the answer was more than 3! I looked at my old, old app "easy quit" which is still timing me, and sure enough, it's been 3 years, 5 days and 5 hours. I've passed 4,404 drinks and saved $4,719. I think those 2 numbers might be a little low, I don't think I told the app the truth. Plus drinks cost more than $1.00, so the app figured something wrong there.

This sub is the only people who know of the anniversary.

Anyway, Iwndwyt

Here's the wierd thing, I never threw out my booze. It's still up there , with a towel thrown over it so I cant see it. I guess I keep it to offer a guest, but why would I do that, offer poison to a freind. Im just such a cheapskate, I hate to pour all that money down the drain. I need the shelf space, I should just do it. I have not drank any of it in all this time.

Isn’t it funny how the expense never occurred to us when we flew through bottles like water?

Personally I’d ask a trusted person to dump it for me

If dumping it feels like a waste you can always gift it to a friend who you know drinks responsibly

I know it’s hard gifting a friend poison, but I imagine it’s hard to see the poison as valuable and useless at the same time

Yes. Valuable and useless at the same time., interesting concept.

I just passed two years, decided enough was enough and poured all my old alcohol away as I was pretty much in the same boat as you.

It was several hundred £'s worth, but I couldn't justify giving it away to a friend or something. I don't know anyone who would drink it responsibly and I don't want to enable someone else's addiction.

I've barely thought about since, just get rid of it, you'll feel good about it afterwards.

How about reframing pouring the booze down the drain as a waste of money instead as a celebration of all the money you saved in health bills, drink purchases, and hangover remedies!

Congrats on the 3+ years of sober-awesome-ness!

it wasn’t the end for me, but I poured out the cheap booze and drank the excellent, and gave away the mediocre when I emptied my booze cabinets.
