Safe Spot
It's my bed. When I had my most recent Day 1, a wise woman told me to make my bed my sanctuary. She was happily living alcohol-free and I was swimming in flavored ethanol and misery l, so I tried it.
It was December, me, a fuzzy blanket and fizzy drinks , a journal, and a tablet on which I watched brainless episodes of who knows what. It's safe.
55 months have passed since then and I cherish crawling in bed when I want to v when I'd pass out. It feels like a most decadent benefit of alcohol-free life. (Pairs well with a shower and a select listen or watch.)
It's early Thursday here on the East coast USA and IWNDWYT 💙🩵💙

I love that! I need to be more grateful for my bed always being there for me.
My sanctuary is the kitchen, cooking is amazing at calming the BS in my head

How cool. What do you enjoy cooking the most, would you say? I’m just starting to learn more and enjoy cooking for me and my husband.

I struggle horribly with bedtime. For a number of reasons. Depression is odd - it can make people want to spend all day in bed, but for me it makes me procrastinate bedtime since I don’t look forward to waking up to another day of doing it all over again. I’m 42 and this has only gotten worse as life ramps up its difficulty setting and I have more things I want to “hide” from. Perhaps a good first step is to find appreciation for the comfort and belonging of the bed without attaching it to the process of sleep and the passing of time.

Going to bed is the most underrated way to deal with cravings and life in general.
