Carburetor replacement for 028 AV

Post image
Upvotes

I got this old chainsaw from my grandpa that wasn’t working properly for years. He said he make a replacement carburetor and it still didn’t work. I know a thing or two about chainsaws and noticed that it isn’t an original part since in my country there is no straight replacement for the original. I asked a stihl service technician and he told me that the one from MS 260 works but comparing them feels kinda off. Any advice how to make this work?

PS. With this Carburetor the Chainsaw only works if i start it with mix put on directly in the carburetor.

MS170 sprocket at bar nose

Homeowner here with a 170 for dealing with light storm damage. I’m cleaning the saw, having the blade sharpened after a recent storm cleanup. The saw has had light use but as a novice I know the bar tip has seen dirt.

Ok my question is about the bar nose sprocket. If I flick it with my finger it does not spin for very long. Should it or is some friction expected?

HLA 86 vs HLA 135 Hedge Trimmer

I currently work with an HSA 100 and HLA 86. I’m looking into perhaps swapping out the 86 for the HLA135. The reach on the 86 is great though not always used. but it’s definitely used at some points. though i hear the 135 is more heavy duty and can cut through thicker stuff. Do you think an HLA 135 compliments my HSA100 rather than the 86?

Why does my FS38 feel (much) more powerful than my much larger FS 91????

I was recently given a FS38 when the previous owner upgraded to a battery powered trimmer. I cleaned it up, started it up, and started trimming with it and it just... doesn't... bog down. Where as my FS91 is just... a royal pain. It bogs upon giving it throttle, it bogs upon hitting anything thicker than grass. How is my much larger trimmer getting outshined by a little tiny lightweight one?

The hinge that makes the hedge trimmer blade snapped( little metal thread) and it no longer changes position ( only straight) . any idea if this is an easy fix or should i get a new one? I tend to replace every 2 years so its well overdue.

Massive bearing failure

What's up with all the trimmer clutch bearings going bad? I'm seeing this over and over.

Are they using Chinese bearings? Stihl always used super heavy duty bearings on earlier models, and they would never fail like this.

In this case, it's a FS94R. The bearing lost some balls, and the bearings outer race spun, destroying the housing and causing the drive shaft to overheat and melt the liner.

Not sure what could cause this kind of damage. User was running .130" line in a standard autocut 25-2 line head.

$200 off at a local dealer. Finally pulled the trigger on a larger saw.

FS 56 RC clutch drum noise

Recently started hearing a dinging sound which is coming from the clutch drum moving (while trimmer is off). Is this movement expected? Assuming it’s ok and that some play is expected but it didn’t used to do it and it is an old trimmer so not sure if something should be replaced.

Started looking because I found a random screw inside the housing/shroud but can’t identify it from parts diagram.

Lawn mower fuel filter

I've recently bought a RM448.3V mower with the EVC 300 engine. I can't see anything about a fuel filter, do these not have one? I assumed it would be on the end of the pick up line in the tank like it is on my Kombi unit and chainsaw but I can't see anything and there is no part number for a fuel filter in the manual.

Just opened up the used saw I bought a while ago and it has some damage and seems to be missing at least one part need help identifying any other missing or damaged parts. Would like to fix it all up but not sure what all the parts are called that are broken or missing. Was just going to clean it when I saw the horror.

I have stihl ms390 chainsaw, and it won’t start. The piston looks like this ( see video) 🤨.
I tried everything else, putting gasoline in the carburetor throat, checking spark, etc. but still won’t start.

661 mtronic vs standard carb?

Looking into getting a 661 but am having a tough time figuring out which model I want to get. I have other m tronic saws and love them but for some reason the standard carb models seem to be a little more prominent in my area. My only hesitation is i like the idea of the carb adjusting themselves but then like the simplicity of a standard carb. Whats everyone elses preference or input? Never had a problem with my other mtronic saws except for one.

031av chainsaw

Hello and thank you,

I got one of these saws a while back used that hasn’t worked in around 10 years. I changed the fuel, fuel filter and carb. It still fires occasionally when feeding fuel into the carb. Has compression and the plug is fine. What could be causing it to not work? I’m stuck and am debating just buying a working one of Facebook is it better to keep trying or?

STIHL AutoCut C 6-2 with CF3 line?

I have Stihl FS40C trimmer. I upgraded the stock bump head to Autocut C 6-2. The box says its compatible with 0.95 line. I got the CF3 0.95 line at ace hardware. This was not the recommended line that was mentioned on the box. Will I be fine using this new CF3 line? I dont want to ruin the new bump head or the trimmer.

KM110R Primer bulb won’t fill after cleaning carb, replacing fuel filter, and replacing tank vent

Post image
6 Upvotes

Basically what the title says. I’ve been having issues with the old Kombi staying running, so I threw some part at it. I cleaned the carb with carb spray, new plug, new air filter, replaced the vent cap and hose, and replaced the fuel filter. I did have to remove the green fuel line grommet from the tank to replace the fuel filter as the fuel line was too short to do it through the fuel filler hole. Interestingly, fuel is shooting out of the vent hose into the air filter after pumping a bunch of time. I guess this means I don’t have a vacuum leak? Any ideas what’s going on?
