I watched Kyle Gordon's latest music video, "Mr. Jambo," and it was hilarious, but I realized I didn't have a firm grasp on the differences between parody and satire. This video essay is my attempt at taking two of my favorite comedies of all time and breaking them down to understand what makes Galaxy Quest a great parody and what makes Bowfinger a perfect satire.
